Fade Out: In “Fade Out,” Claire’s life gets a little bit more crazy… if that’s even possible. Caine has a wild imagination that she has translated into text for all to enjoy. Kiss of Death: Claire, Eve, Shane and Michael have been tested beyond what is normal for humans, but in “Kiss of Death,” the common vampire story goes to extreme quickly. Caine has created a page turner that makes you cringe each time you turn the page because you aren’t sure if you want to know what happens next, but yet, you can’t help yourself because you need to know what happens. Of all the books in the series, this one has the most suspense, drama and action — making it a turning point for Claire and her friends, and the future of Morganville. How much I have missed the gang no one will ever know. Okay, so I missed them loads and loads, and with so many other obstacles in the way I am so glad to get back on it. Or, at least as normal gets for that town. With the vampires, the crazy computer vamp, and of course Monica. But, there is something wrong with the town, especially with Amelie, who is not all herself. Seems like vamps want to break free from Morganville but danger comes in a form that is almost least expected, in a human. When Eve's good friend Kim begins a film project to document the lives of the Morganville vamps. With her sudden disappearance truths begin to come out. I actually had no idea what book number I was on since I'm reading these in volumes, two at a time. So, I was a little surprised to find myself already on book 7, and I was even more surprised with Rachel Caine. By this time I didn't think anything worse than Bishop could happen to the gang. Well, that's where people need to think again. What I absolutely loved is that there is never a dull moment. Myrinn is still as crazy as ever, though, less so, but now his crazy computer girlfriend Ada adds to the mix. And when a danger that is unexpected appears, the gang just cannot take a break. Like I said where one danger is gone, another appears. I am such a fan of the story continuing and the way things tie together the reader never forgets something. Somehow Caine is making this entire series tie together tightly, which makes me giddy with excitement. And as I fall more in love with the series, I was not at all disappointed with "Kiss of Death." The gang is back and this time they are on the road. Yes, that's right, they get to leave Morganville! With Oliver and of course they have to come back, but details, details, details. But with Michael going to meet a music agent in Dallas the gang hits the road for what they hope would be a restful but fun weekend. You'd think they know better by now. Danger has followed them out of Morganville, after the events that took place in "Fade Out" and this danger is not ready to leave the gang alone until Shane, Eve, and Claire are sucked dry and Michael goes puff. I don't want to give too much away but like always, Caine is in it to impress. She takes her characters from their comfy homes into the outskirts of Texas where danger both human and vamp is waiting for them. Sadly, I'll have to wait until the next volume is released, which will be who knows when, but the way things are going and what I've been hearing I know this book series is going to be a memorable one. Am I the only one that's thinking why this hasn't become a TV series already? Just a thought. It can happily join the ranks with TVD, but that's my opinion. Once again, Caine has written gold and I cannot wait to read more of what's to become of our gang.

I am seriously a big fan of Claire Danvers, her character grows so much in each book she is not the little scared girl she was in the first book (if she ever was that) in this volume we see how in control she is she is capable of solving big "vampire" problems without panicking, we know from the beginning that she is really smart but in this volume we see how freaking kick ass she is, she stakes a vampire with a pencil and she fires an arrow that goes through Morley's hands pinning them to his ch I am seriously a big fan of Claire Danvers, her character grows so much in each book she is not the little scared girl she was in the first book (if she ever was that) in this volume we see how in control she is she is capable of solving big "vampire" problems without panicking, we know from the beginning that she is really smart but in this volume we see how freaking kick ass she is, she stakes a vampire with a pencil and she fires an arrow that goes through Morley's hands pinning them to his chest.I mean..how badass is that?! Myrnin was as fabulous as ever still a little weird The only character that I really disliked was Eve,in the first book Fade Out she is a total bitch mostly to Claire and she wasn't that angry when she found out what Kim was doing. In the second book she is simply an hysterical bitch, she just sobs and after that Claire helps getting them out of a bad situation she calls her a coward.Claire who just saved their asses! And yeah for the rest she is sobbing and being very useful, not!Claire could have a better friend just saying.... Kind of annoyed how they made this big deal about going to Dallas, but then spend only 2 chapters talking about it because they just got into a whole lot of trouble in between the ride over to Dallas. Don't wanna spoil anything, but I guess I just was expecting more of shit to hit the fan in Dallas...so it was alright just got really annoyed because I was just reading and waiting for the whole Dallas thing the entire time. I really liked getting a better look at Oliver, away from Amelie and the push-pull relationship they have. I even started to like Morley at the end, and Claire is just awesome using her physics brain to aim and fire a crossbow. This series continues to be fun.

Fade Out In Fade Out, Claire and the gang are getting back to their normal lives…or normal for them anyway. There is a somewhat tentative peace between humans and vampires at the moment, but it could fall apart at any second. Claire is continuing her work with the moderately sane Myrnin and his crazy supercomputer, Ada. (It’s a really complicated, disturbing relationship. You’ll just have to read about this one for yourself.) Things are going well with Claire and her boyfriend, Shane. Michael is getting some serious attention for his music. And Eve has just been cast as Blanche DuBois in the town’s production of A Streetcar Named Desire. Seems super, right? Well, as I’m sure you’ve guessed by now, things are not quite as super as they seem. One of Eve’s co-stars in Streetcar is an enigmatic girl named Kim. Everyone seems to like Kim…except Claire, especially when she discovers that Kim and Shane have history. Claire just knows that Kim is rotten to the core, but she doesn’t want to seem like a super-jealous twit, so she keeps her mouth shut for the most part. Until she discovers what Kim’s been up to in Morganville. (No, I’m not going to tell you. That would ruin the whole book for you.) Claire knows Kim and whoever is working with her must be stopped, but how? And that’s not all folks! Remember Myrnin’s supercomputer, Ada? Well, she’s officially gone off her nut and is determined to kill Claire so that she can have Myrnin all to herself. Now, I know you’re asking, “How is this possible? Ada is just a computer.” Have you not been paying attention? Nothing is really what it seems in Morganville, and Claire and the gang will have to use all their wits, plus some dealings with a few unsavory characters, to get out of this mess in tact. Kiss of Death In Kiss of Death, the eighth book in Rachel Caine’s Morganville Vampires series, Claire, Michael, Shane, and Eve are facing the prospect of actually getting to leave Morganville for a while. Michael is finally getting his shot at becoming a rock star, and Claire and the gang just might get to go along for the ride. There’s one catch, though. Oliver–scary vampire with an attitude–is to be their chaperone. Even with this unwelcome twist, the gang just cannot pass up this opportunity. A chance for Michael to really make it in the music business and for them to get out of Morganville? It’s really a no-brainer. So, Claire and her merry band of misfits take off for Dallas, with Oliver as their surly companion. Surely things are going to be super-duper and all happy for them, right? Um, if you believe that, you might want to go back and read the first seven books of this series. Of course things aren’t going to go smoothly! Wake up! Almost immediately, trouble finds our travelers. They are nearly assaulted at what can only be described as a redneck hangout. (Shout out to all my redneck friends out there! I live in good ol’ South Carolina, so there are a few of them.) Next, Eve’s car gets burned to a crisp. Then, they stumble upon a whole different kind of trouble. Well, maybe it’s not so different for them… It seems a group of Morganville’s unhappy vampire citizens have skipped town. They’re seeking freedom from Amelie and the rules of Morganville. Well, they may just get more than they bargained for when they encounter Claire, her friends, and a new threat that no one really anticipated (or so we think). What will become of Claire and her friends? How will the “escapees” from Morganville deal with their new-found freedom? What is this new threat, and do our fine friends have any hope of battling something so much stronger than them? Will Michael ever make it to Dallas to finally record his music? Will our friends ever make it back to Morganville? Do they even want to?

This is a two-books-in-one volume so I have a review for each book. I do like this presentation of the books instead of the smaller single paperbacks. I like the larger books and you get twice the fun for the money. I'm giving this one three stars total. You can see that it's actually more of a 2.5, but I would definitely give the combo book a three instead of a 2 so there you have it. Review of each book listed. Fade Out - 2 stars I kind of wish this series had ended with the last book. At the end This is a two-books-in-one volume so I have a review for each book. Fade Out - 2 stars I kind of wish this series had ended with the last book. At the end of that one, Claire and Shane were in love, the evil vamps had been defeated, things were going to change in Morganville and all seemed well. It really was a good ending. But this one picks up a few months later and it's just odd. Claire is being pursued by a hundreds of years old steampunk vampire/computer machine that wants her dead and keeps attacking her. It's just almost too weird. Then there is a video voyeur who has disappeared after making some very private tapes of Claire and her friends as well as other private meetings and various locations. The friends have to track her down, not only to stop her from releasing the tapes, but also to save the town because if word gets out, all of Morganville will be destroyed. This sounds good and following the clues is interesting, but this plot kind of fizzles, other than leading Shane, Eve and Claire forced into making a life or death deal with some wild vampires. This one definitely isn't my favorite. Kiss Of Death - 3 stars This book feels like it pulls the story back on track from where it went in the seventh book. I like that this one is mostly the four friends, Claire, Shane, Eve and Michael, travelling away from Morganville. They are threatened by humans and vampires and you get all different levels of evil vampires and what happens to a small town when it becomes infested with sick vampires. Yeah, sounds confusing, but it all makes sense in that context of the series. One of the things I enjoy the most about this series is all the snappy dialogue among the friends, their rude comments and gestures to each other ring very true as the way longime friends interact. One thing that sort of bothers me, though, is that Claire has gone from a normal, albeit very intelligent, human girl to becoming super special. She seems to have powers that no one else has, even the vampires. I want to know why the Glass house responded to her when it doesn't even do that for Michael, the current owner. That happened in a past book, but this stuff needs to be explained and I keep waiting. When a character gets super powers that no one else has, well, I need to know why. All of the characters continue to grow and change which adds to the story. Claire has gone from a timid brainiac to a tough, yet still caring person, trying to keep alive even the vampires if she can. Her relationship with Shane has been well developed and seems very natural. Shane also continues to mature in his dealings with the world. Eve and Michael are struggling a bit with where they're heading together and is there ulitmately a together for them? I liked that this book begins to ask that question or maybe the question actually is, what is the future for Michael? Or for any of them? Thank you to Goodreads Giveaways.

The Machine (Ada) was jealous on her and the friendship Claire had with the most craziest vampire Myrnin. Ada (the program )was trying to trap Claire through the portals in a room full with vampires, until last time opened her own portal and garbed Claire to kill her. After few tries Ada's program was restarted by Claire and when she realized how much pain she has causing, Ada killed herself (computer delete program for good). Not that this was not enough problems for them one of Eve's new friend start transforming Morganville into a Reality show, so they scope is to stop any video coming out of the city. Now without Ada anyone can get in and out the city with no problems (including vampires), so Clare task now was to create a program that can control everyone again. Now the humans could leave the city and remember everything about the vampires and tell to the world outside Morganville. In "Kiss of Death" Claire and her friends are going on a trip outside of Morganville to Dallas. Their scope is to record Michale's CD but think they start complicating from the moment they leave town with Oliver in the car. Things become even worse when they get in Texas waiting for Oliver to resolve some of his problems. They realized that this was not a town for them and Michale has not the power over human with his words that he use to have in Morganville. Trouble is like looking for them everywhere because they just get in town for one day and get arrested. Things don't stop here, because they have an unexpected "rescuer" Morley which takes Claire,Eve and Shane prisoners with him and other vampires in the lookout for a new town. Now that Ada is dead he escape Morganville without The Founders permission. What more i can say is that this is my favorite book so far so many things happening that brings everyone together even when they far from Morganville. What can i say, i have never been so interested to read a series in my life is just been only few months and i am on the 9th one. Go read them and get at this one trust me it is worth it.

There was a sub-conflict involving Ada that to me took away from the overall effect. The beginning with all those details like Amelie and the grand re-opening completely lost a newcomer like me. But once the stoyr started on Kim, I liked the way it went. I'm still not sure whether I liked the second book better or not. It seemed to be pushing the bounds of reality in a way that even I as a willing suspender of disbelief was skeptical of. A vampire army preying on a village and they can't do ANYTHING about it? I know that modern technology was shut down but what about family from out-of-town or postal workers turning into vampires? Surely they get mail? I thought postal service went everywhere. Anyway, not important. What was important was WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BLACK HEARSE? AND THEIR SUITCASES? I really hate when characters loose their bags. I don't know why. And the hearse was fantabulous. They should have brought it back to Morganville. I knew they would come back, of course. Overall, I liked the book so much that I'm going to start looking around for the first Morganville books.

I think I skipped a book's worth of plot to get to this part of the series, but backstory exposition made it easy to figure out what's going on. In the first one, we have a sentient, crazy undead computer who is still in love with her creator, and can generate a voice through whatever technology is at hand- like cell phones, speakers, whatever makes kind of a fuzzy artificial voice. Just like HAL! Some of the efforts to inject humor into the series to lighten things up a bit, like a vampire in bunny slippers, just left me cold, but I generally liked Claire in this book. Eve is beginning to be a bit too shrill teenager for me, though. The boys- well, they're hot young love interests and are fine for that purpose. In the second book, the action takes place outside of Morganville for the first time. Michael has been asked to record for a label so a road trip to Dallas is in order! Of course, nothing goes as planned and our heroes end up in a spooky tiny Texas plains town with no way to get out and crazy vampires on their heels. I was in a mood for a quick easy read and these books fit the bill. They're a little bit creepy, I enjoy the main characters well enough, and I have faith in Rachel Caine's story-telling ability.

This volume still kept up with Morganville's wild rides, deadly vampires, and typically sarcastic wit, which I love dearly. Michael Glass getting his shot at stardom in Kiss of Death though? Heck yes! The road to getting there was like a day in Morganville flipped inside out for the crew. It was Claire and Shane running things and Michael and Eve in the backseat which was pretty wild. Getting to experience the outside world is much trickier than they figured and the fact that Oliver tags along doesn't make it much easier. The fact that Morganville basically followed all of them to a pit-stop small town is hysterical. Of course, they can't catch a break. But still, a freaking A-Team. Love these characters that always get me feeling all types of ways and love the storytelling because it is always exciting, attention-getting, fun, original, and on freaking point. From merciless killer to baffled advice-giver, Oliver’s personality, normally pent-up and stubborn, is truly released. I liked him before this, but now I LOVE him (not as much as I LOVE Myrnin, though). Seriously, even if you HATED him before this, you won’t. He was awesome. Oh yeah, and there’s more of Morley. I like Morley too. Even though he’s kinda a jerk. Yeah. And there was some stuff with Claire shooting arrows. Spoiler: There are vampires outside of Morganville. Final Thoughts: Oliver.

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I love these books. This one took me longer to read but I kind of hit a no read zone for a few months. I really love this series for a lot of reasons. The kids lives are really realistic (if you don't count the town full of raging vampires) in that they have everyday problems like everyone else. School, jobs, insecurities. I also really like that there is always consequences for their actions. It a series full of great characters. Each one strong in their own way and each book is a lot of fun. The Kiss of Death book wasn't my favorite of the series though. The Kiss of Death book wasn't my favorite of the series though. I started out a little slow and didn't really pick up to the normal Morganville action level until about 1/2 way through. The gang gets passes to go out of town so that Michael can record in Dallas. The beginning of the book was more about the teens emotions and insecurities, the action doesn't start until they leave town. It was alot of fun to see them out of their normal Morganville context and still finding trouble where ever they go! Only this group of kids could get into more trouble OUT of Morganville than they do IN it!! All in all, it was a good addition to the series, even if it did start out a little weak, and I'm as anxious as ever to see where the next book will take us.

First Book: Claire is still stuck in Morganville. Her and Shane are still together. So are Michael and Eve. Michael has a concert and has a music producer ask him to make a demo. Shane's ex-girlfriend shows up and puts hidden cameras all over the Glass house. In private places, like Shane and Michael's room. Pointing at both their bed. When they finally track her down and destory the hard drives. Ada had already made the girl (Kim) go crazy. Oh and Ada keeps trying to kill Claire. I received this book from the Goodreads First Reads giveaways, and I'm really glad that I won it. I love this series, mostly because it's different from most of the vampire books that are out these days. In this series, the vampires are known about by a large group of people, and they live in one organized city instead of being widespread (like Twilight). I thought the two books in this volume were the best out of the series. I have to say that I enjoyed Kiss of Death more than Fade Out, though. I really loved how in Kiss of Death you could actually see how living in Morganville has changed Claire. She's no longer that scared teenager that she once was. And it offered a completely different setting too; the Glass House residents actually get to leave Morganville! I think anyone who loves vampires or fiction books should definitely give this series a try! (:

Fade Out- 4 stars - This series really is heating up! I really like this installment, and the characters. It was pretty fast paced and action packed. You really feel for Amelie as she grieves Sam's death. Claire's parents still don't really fit into this series very well. Of course I figured at some point Ada was going to become crazier than Myrnin, and that the group would have a relationship hiccup. All in all I really liked it. Kiss of Death - 4 Stars - I really liked reading about their road trip! It was nice to see them outside the town boundaries of Morganville, and Monica free. This installment put you on the edge of your seat! I feel the characters, especially Claire, have really grown and blossomed. I am not sure the direction the author will go next, but I can't wait to find out.

Love this series! Seriously, LOVE! No matter what, the characters always pull through. Claire really grows as the books go on. I admire that about Rachel Caine's writing, she actually has her characters develop over time. It's been a year since Claire moved to Morganville and its obvious because after the year's harshness, she has tactics with certain people and knows her way around the town and the people-more or less-now. Shane is still tough, but he has learned to loosen up; Eve is still goth Love this series! Seriously, LOVE! No matter what, the characters always pull through. Claire really grows as the books go on. He was always amazing and gifted, but you see it more and more. I mentioned I LOVE this series, right?

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. This series seems to be getting better the further it goes, which is good. Claire especially seems to have grown and changed a lot in the last couple of books. Not sure what I think about Jason coming back in the picture again. Can't say Morley was much of a surprise, though their Texas adventure was definitely far more than what I originally suspected. Amelie's call at the end, while disappointing, was also expected. This is another awesome book of Morganville vampires! The series continues with books 7 and 8 in this newly released volume. Caine writes a wonderful self contained world in Morganville where the vampires are a reality and rule the town. Sure, the college kids are oblivious but walk a few streets away and you find the Glass house where Eve, Shane, Michael, and Claire live. These four battle to keep their freedom from living under the vampire rule. They fight to live and love. My deepest hope is This is another awesome book of Morganville vampires! What I thought of this book overall (read only this section if you do not want to be spoiled) : I have always loved this series. They are different than any other vampire story and is always interesting. I definitely feel that this series should receive more praise. I don't see it becoming a movie fansice which is sad, but I might be surprised one day. Myrnin is my favorite character(view spoiler)[ because he is slightly crazy. This book had me hooked the entire time I was reading it. My favourite character Claire showed just how strong and fierce she really was while sticking by her friends. Rachel Caine has taken us back into the world of the Morganville vamps and showed us that it takes just as much to survive in Morganville as it does to survive in a small town out of it. It even managed to squeeze in some life lessons in there too. Overall an amazing book and if you haven't read the ones before you really should.
