Nearly every house valued over $200,000 has a library in it. Now why do you think that is? Jim Rohn, motivational speaker and business genius, was almost a kinder, gentler Tony Robbins. Jim Rohn, motivational speaker and business genius, was almost a kinder, gentler Tony Robbins. Originally from Iowa, he uses common sense and a storytelling style in an effort to encourage listeners to improve their lives. This audiobook presentation is a mix of live presentations and studio-recorded bits. Personally, I think he was better in front of a live audience, but there was plenty to take away from in both sections. Here's some of what he shares in this audiobook: Read, learn, journal. Write down what works and what doesn't. Write down your goals and then take a minute to look at the passing days, weeks and months and see what you've accomplished. Eat healthy and take that walk around the block. If you don't, you may seriously regret it, maybe not today or tomorrow but in the years to come, you'll wish you took a minute to invest in yourself. Work hard at your job and you'll make a living. Work hard on yourself and you'll make a fortune! Rohn insists that anyone can be exceptional. He says success in business (and life) comes from small positive steps taken consistently over time. That type of approach really works for most any goal or dream you may have. Read contracts all the way through, every time. It seems like a simple thing, but it can take you down some dark roads if you don't read the fine print. He learned that the hard way. Don't stop reading and be a lifetime learner. Stay curious. Stay involved. And take pictures. Part of your legacy to the next generation can be the pictures and documentation you've made of your life. I can't tell you how many times I've listened to this audiobook. It's one of my go-to programs when life has me down. Jim Rohn believed you can accomplish anything that you set your mind to do. He makes listeners believe that too. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to learn "the art of exceptional living."

I can only say that this was the book that has changed my thinking about my life. I actually had this book on CD, and because of me traveling with my job, i was able to listen to this book many times. One day, it made sense that i should be expanding my thinking, my knowledge, my understandings, and so here i am on this site, reviewing books, gathering the information on books, and adding to my future read list.

The reason I love this book so much, is because it is almost like "The Best of Jim Rohn." If you ever have a chance to listen to the audio book series of the same name, it is actually a collection of several of Jim's seminars put together in a "sledge hammer" of self revelation & personal development. I listened to this book several years ago whilst driving back and forth to work. This book can be a life changer for those who want to learn to think and act differently. This really shines the light on our thinking and personal philosophy, and how our daily actions and habits either help us, or hurt us, in the long run. There is a lot of simple information that anyone can relate to, delivered in his unique style, that turns out to be rather profound in the effects on our lives. I've listened to other Jim Rohn programs the past couple months. This one and the others are quite repetitive; same core ideas, same overall stories. It would not be fair to say that if you've gone through one program, you've gone through the rest, but if you did not enjoy Jim Rohn in his other programs, it is unlikely you will enjoy him now in this one. I really loved his other programs and although I find the leaning on the same material unnecessary, listening repeatedly to the same principles I've listened to other Jim Rohn programs the past couple months. I absolutely love Jim's work. What was funny to me is that I think that I have heard this whole thing in segments of YouTube videos that I have watched. I don't want to just outline the material, but Jim's Philosophy and approach to personal development are very unique, simple, and most importantly, actionable. If you have never really been into the "self-help" type of thing, but might want to try again, Jim Rohn is an excellent place to start. I wish I had found him sooner. I absolutely love Jim's work. This guys voice is one of the most distinctive I have heard in a while. However the message is great. Rohn centers on the theme of "work harder on yourself than on your job". Lots of daily affirmations to keep up with (apple a day, walk, healthy living = positive attitude). --Audio Book This guys voice is one of the most distinctive I have heard in a while. Interesting "self help" book, in that it was written so long ago you can see where all the other books get it from! :-) It said nothing more than think positively and be organised. Jim Rohn was one of the leading speakers of his time. And this book, which I listened to Audible, was my first introduction to him. There are many different kinds of speakers – some are loud, others are subtle, and in the case of Jim Rohn, he’s simply magnificently poetic. He reminds me of that teacher who had always had a slight sarcastic twist to his voice, but in reality wanted the best for you. So, it’s fair to say that he talks to you like you’re a little kid: but in a good way. Listening t Jim Rohn was one of the leading speakers of his time. He reminds me of that teacher who had always had a slight sarcastic twist to his voice, but in reality wanted the best for you. So, it’s fair to say that he talks to you like you’re a little kid: but in a good way. Listening to him made me appreciate the different styles of speakers and authors, and made me realise that many of them are saying the same thing: but just in a different way. I absolutely adored listening to this book, and I find that his style definitely suits me more than the other narrators out there. I highly recommend this book, because it makes you feel more ambitious. It makes you realize that, with the right strategies, you can build the life of your dreams. In listening to him, I was able to work backwards and realize that many of the modern day speakers and authors have taken and adopted and rebranded a lot of the things he’s said. For this review I’m going to share some of the bullet points I noted down while listening to this book: - Have targets planned in advance for the day, week, month, and year. - Ask yourself: what kind of person will i have to become to get all i want - Your income does not far exceed your personal development - There’s nothing you can do about the past, but there’s a great deal you can do about the future - you've got to be a good asker! - Believe you can get what you want with childhood wonder - It’s better to live in a tent with a women, then to live in a mansion alone - The day you’re disgusted at yourself is your most important day for change - Welcome all experiences --- you never know which one is going to turn everything on - Nothing can deter a human will that stakes its existence on its purpose Make sure your dreams are the largest influencers on your daily activities - Sometimes we’ll do something for another person that we wouldn’t be prepared to do for ourselves - The greatest source of unhappiness starts from the inside - and starts with doing a little less then you can - The only way to enjoy another meal is to get hungry - We grow from the joy of winning - We grow from the pain of losing - if you share, it’s going to do more for you than for them - You can get as much as praise as Jim rohn if you share as much as him - Pour out your ideas so more can be poured in - bring value to the market place - In reference to taxes: You have to feed the goose that lays the golden eggs. Yes taxes are high and the goose is fat – but we all eat too much – let not one appetite accuse another. - What have the people around me got me: - Thinking - Doing - Listening - Feeling - Saying - Every new discipline affects the rest of your discipline - Affirmation without discipline is the beginning of delusion - if you rest too long the weeds begin to take over the garden - Objective of life is to act, not rest.... - Everything affects everything else.....nothing stands alone.

Jim Rohn is my favourite mentor and teacher and, in my opinion, he's one of the best speakers and storytellers on the subject of personal development. I've listened to this audio so many times I can almost 'sign along' to it. Major lessons: Start a library, read the books, be responsible for your own education, set goals, become more valuable to the marketplace, small daily activities performed over a long period of time have huge results (an apple a day...). In a world where anyone, regardless of their credibility, can shout loud enough and get an audience, we need more people like Jim Rohn. It's almost like learning from your wise Grandfather - kind, straightforward, believes in you, can see your potential and wants you to be happy and do well. One of my favourites that I’ll return to year on year. I’m either getting something new from it, or getting a reminder on something else. It never gets old, in fact, it continues to help me to grow.

This series of delightfully powerful talks by Jim Rohn is outstanding. It is a collection that I will certainly listen to several times over. His passion and unique presentation style are compelling. I love his references to how he started out in his early adult life on the wrong track, but that when he learned the very principles that he shares here, he was able to turn his whole life around. He gives frequent humble credit for this learning to a mentor who took a personal interest in him. I lis This series of delightfully powerful talks by Jim Rohn is outstanding.
