The Six-Star Test to see if She’s a True Friend INTEREST One important criterion that defines a friend is how interested the person is in your life. Tell her about something significant that is going on in your life and see if she calls to follow up and find out what happened. If she doesn’t, then call her and see if she mentions it. Finally, if she doesn’t bring it up, hint about it and see if she even remembers the conversation you had about it previously. LOYALTY Tell a secret about a mutual friend and see if it gets back to him or her. True friends know the value of trust in a relationship. Just make sure you get the permission of your friend to tell her secret to this other person. PRIDE Anyone can tell you to cheer up. It makes them feel good. But see who pats you on the back for a good job. Those who are not driven by jealousy and envy will do just that. Your true friends are proud of your accomplishments, not jealous of your successes. HONESTY A true friend is someone who tells you the things that you don’t want to hear. She is willing to have you upset with her if it will help you. RESPECT SACRIFICE Is she willing to give up something if it means making you happy? Will she sacrifice her own pleasure for your happiness?

What a hoot!

Practicaly psychology applied to everyday interactions. It's definitely worth reading. "Get anyone to do anything" had a couple nuggets in it, but for the most part the author and title is promising more than the book can give. "Get anyone to do anything" had a couple nuggets in it, but for the most part the author and title is promising more than the book can give.

I remember picking up this book and wondering at all the possibilities. I figured most people were too stupid to pick it up, and gladly picked it out of the library. As I read through it, I noticed the book was poorly written for the most part (subjects aren't really fleshed out, and everything is followed by "all the time!") It was easy to overlook this, as I imagined soon my attractive neighbor would be all over me and my boss would be doing my bidding. It was easy to overlook this, as I imagined soon my attractive neighbor would be all over me and my boss would be doing my bidding. When attempted in real life, it did not work (my boss thought I was weird, and my neighbor continued to ignore me.) I give this book a very angry one star. It is much worse when you are promised a hot neighbor, than to have never been promised at all.

It is reminiscent of Greene's The 48 Laws of Power, but while that book holds more principles, THIS book give you concrete tools on how to accomplish those principles. It's a great hodgepodge of things you can do to get anyone to do anything, but I suppose it can sound ruthless to the meek. I personally thought it was great, and I liked the note at the end wherein the author noted how this book wasn't meant to fix deep-seated emotional problems, but can help in small everyday steps. The book have separated into section for each situation which easy to pick to use. You can read whatever you want not necessary to read from first to last. Many times, book link some chapters to implement together. However, sometimes I found it quite exaggerate for the name of this book. It not that magic, It quite depend on situation. The method is very good but with a limit of power. You can't really get "Anyone" to do "Anything" as you please. But It helps a lot. Having read it quite a number of years ago, I remember thinking it was OK but not much else. Neither can I seem to be able to remember too many specifics about it. Obviously it wasn't awful, otherwise I would have remembered that, but neither was it good enough to burn a vivid image into my mind, so two stars is the most I can give it in hindsight. Good reading. If you are interested in self developing and are curious why things happens read this book. It is not long so it even does not requires much time. I've read it twice. After the first reading I've became aware of commented situations and now I can easily note when they occur. The second reading helped me to note also my reaction in these situations and to correct some of them. Good reading. This is a pretty good book about persuasion as it offers tactics and strategies to persuade people rather than just the larger theory of the matter. While for many people who've read a lot of these books this one only has a little to offer, that little is worth the effort as it's a short book and the tactics are good. David Lieberman seems too young to have written such an insightful book on human behavior. It is a great quick-reference to keep at the office when folks see a bit out of control and you need a little help in understanding how they tick.

It offers some good ideas about how to handle difficult situations. I don't think they all will work but it is never-the-less interesting. It offers some good ideas about how to handle difficult situations. I don't think they all will work but it is never-the-less interesting.

I let the title 'grab' me. While it was a quick read (45 minutes on audiobook), it is not worth the time. I can't say there is a single new thing I learned from this book. I realize if I had read the reviews with the high stars I would have been even more disappointed that I wasted my time. I think my background helps me see through the ridiculousness of the tips suggested. I think my background helps me see through the ridiculousness of the tips suggested. While the tips are reasonable to have normal discussions with someone, they have zero practicality in real life when you are in an adversarial discussion. No way will these tips get you to have "anyone" do anything just because you use certain verbal techniques in an adversarial situation. I especially took issue with the suggestions towards the end on how to get out of a sexual assault where the suspect is someone you know. Although, I get the intent....to buy time to escape...I don't know that in the moment of such an incident, a woman who is trying to survive and escape will actually have the time to think about being nice to the suspect and play along to be able to escape. Humans have a flight, freeze, fight response automatically. At no point will any of us know exactly how we will react in a traumatic event, regardless of how much preparation you have. I'm sure there are women who can use this 'technique' successfully, but the author makes it sound so easy and that it will be successful. I have to say, I did appreciate that he did emphasize such technique is for the purpose of escaping. However, he fails to mention considering any consequences of using the technique and then reporting to law enforcement.

This book is a series of short psychological tips and tricks for getting people and situations to work to your advantage. Most of them are key words or phrases you can use to set up a situation to go the way you want it to, although there are other tactics too, such as smiling to make a great first impression. Some are most useful in business-type situations, such as things that can be used to help in selling, to help you land a job, or to get someone to help you with a project. Others are most useful in interpersonal relationships, like getting a date. A few require the assistance of a third party, such as testing whether someone is a true friend by telling them a secret about a mutual friend (whose permission to tell this secret you have secured in advance) and then seeing whether the secret gets back to them. Many of these tips should prove to be very useful – provided you can remember them when you need them.

It was ok. It wasn't as hokey as I thought books like these are supposed to be. It's a little weird at times, but I think this might be worth people's time, especially if they feel like they need to learn how to be a better social animal. This book came highly recommended; however, I couldn't finish reading it because the techniques he described seemed manipulative. What was I thinking with a title like that? Allegedly, he provides "psychological secrets to gain control of any situation." The "secrets" either were commonplace behaviors or downright deceptive. I read the paperback book, but it wasn't one of the choices from goodreads. I wouldn't recommend it. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I listened to this as an audiobook. It was short, which was good, because I didn't care for it. The author seemed a little obsessed with sexual relationships, and talked at length about helping cheaters get out of trouble with their wives. I'm also not 100% sure that his tips on how to get out of a sexual assault are on point. I would not be likely to read other books by this author or want to be in a room alone with him. Got it for the section on how people manipulate you but was pleasantly surprised by how many of the chapters had good, practical advice. Much of the content centers on improving your personal effectiveness in different areas such as negotiation, public speaking, and peer interactions. There are several chapters that seem to advocate for a winning at all costs mindset and questionably motivated tactics and I rate it 3 stars accordingly.
