Dealing with the first anniversary of her husband's death would be much easier for Whiskey Mattimoe if the newly-crowned Miss Blossom wasn't scheduled to die on the very same day. It seems everybody in Magnet Springs knew about the not-so-secret curse of the Miss Blossom pageant except for Whiskey–full-time real estate agent, part-time sleuth, long-suffering owner of Abra, Dealing with the first anniversary of her husband's death would be much easier for Whiskey Mattimoe if the newly-crowned Miss Blossom wasn't scheduled to die on the very same day. It seems everybody in Magnet Springs knew about the not-so-secret curse of the Miss Blossom pageant except for Whiskey–full-time real estate agent, part-time sleuth, long-suffering owner of Abra, her willful and sometimes felonious Afghan hound, and reluctant guardian for the soon-be-deceased Miss Blossom. Any hope that Abra has reformed her purse-snatching ways is dashed when the dog disappears with the emerald-laden Miss Blossom tiara, a priceless--albeit horrendously ugly and gawdy--heirloom insured for more than Whiskey's net worth. Suddenly Whiskey finds herself tangled in a web of deceit and murder that spans centuries and involves her dearly departed husband, for better or worse. When the new Miss Blossom lands in the hospital and the former Miss Blossom turns up dead, Whiskey's got to catch a cold-blooded killer before another generation of Magnet Springs' royalty succumbs to a fate worse than wearing the Miss Blossom tiara.

Since I have AFghans, this was enjoyable. Even though mine would be dead if they ran away that often.

This book had us on a panic search for an ugly tiara, murdered beauty pageant winners, past pageant winners, ghosts, and Abra and her beau, Norman? As usual this witty, clever, and tightly written plot amused me and was true entertainment with an unexpected ending. The storyline crossed over from Victorian days to the current decade with using all the characters we have begun to know from Ms. Wrights' earlier novels in the series. All this and 40+ cats. The latest in the Whiskey Mattimoe series, this one is a little bit of a letdown from WHISKEY ON THE ROCKS. It was just as frantic, but it didn't have the same "feel" as that one. The main story has to do with some curse on a piece of property that she's been commmissioned to sell and her dog Abra is at it again, stealing the tiara from the local beauty pageant. It does have some cute moments, but overall I didn't like Whiskey as much as I did in the first book. I suppose my biggest problem is that Whiskey's been a widow for a year and now she's looking for love in all the wrong places and that bugged me.

Unexpected surprise. After seeing this book fly of the shelf I finally decided I had to read the book. Fun, lighthearted mystery in a small town.

For sosme reason I couldn't get into this book as much as the first two. The story didn't pull my total attention so I found myself taking a while to finish it. This is the second of the series that I have read. It is well written, but just a little too silly for my taste. It does have some entertaining moments, but not enough for me to recommend it.

This is the third book in the series. I enjoyed it, it has many laugh out loud moments. Not my favorite of the series, but still enjoyable! Looking forward to the next two books!
