Mia is a kitty cat who dreams of being a ballerina like her sister. Except when she tries on her new tutu for dance class, she accidentally wears her sister's! And sister's tutu is TOO TOO big! But with helps from a ballerina giraffe, this will not stop Mia from pulling off some moves like a, well, a cat! An inspiring tale of a cat's tail brought forward as a brave act which encourages kids to take a risk. What can you lose....even if you lose your dignity when your oversized tutu drops, what's Mia is a kitty cat who dreams of being a ballerina like her sister. My toddler loves the Mia series! I love that Mia and her friends are all different shapes and sizes. Each book teaches how to be a good friend without going overly sappy. My toddler loves to imitate the dance moves in the books.

Perfect for little dance enthusiasts! Even if you're not into dancing, the message about self confidence and being brave is super applicable anyway. Very cute easy reader. Mia wants to be just like her big sister and dance, her Mom helps her see her dreams come true with a dance class. When Mia is getting ready she realizes she grabbed her sister's tutu instead of hers, she is so embarrassed to be tripping over it. With the help of a friend she dances with all her heart on the stage for the class and forgets her fears. It's a good moral story for beginner readers. My daughter read it to me and I couldn't be more proud. I did have to help my kindergartner with the harder words but she sounded out most of it.

I was never a ballerina and really never inspired to be one either but I thought why not when I saw Mia in her tutu. Mia has a problem - she packed the wrong tutu! Her friend Ruby also has a shared problem - they both can't help tripping everywhere. What are they going to do when they are asked to dance in front of the whole class? This was lovely to read especially with girls (boys too if they love dance). There is something about ballerina's that little girls seem to love. The writing in Mia's story was simple but not too simple for a child that already knows how to read some. The artwork and style of the story were really cute especially with all those animal dancers in tutus. This was a nice, cute story that had the main characters tossing caution to the win because who cares about tripping when you are trying to have fun?

This is a good beginning reader book (especially for young girls who enjoy ballet.) The story has short sentences and lots of cute, colorful illustrations - perfect to engage young readers. Our youngest read this whole book aloud to us (including a visiting Auntie and girlfriend) and she was very proud of her accomplishment. Normally the books she reads aloud are the ones she brings home from school and they are very short - only about 8 pages. This will help build her confidence and I just know that she will be reading longer books soon.
