The current popularity of vampire and werewolf literature has brought forward many new writers to the genre, amongst which Elizabeth J. Kolodziej, whose debut novel Vampyre Kisses takes much inspiration from bestseller favourites. Kolodziej, whose debut novel Vampyre Kisses takes much inspiration from bestseller favourites. Vampyre Kisses follows twenty-something Faith, whose boring working life is turned upside-down when the mysterious Trent sets his sights on her. Their budding relationship brings her into contact with the other side of New York—a world of vampires, werewolves, and witches—and soon Faith is neck-deep in an evil conspiracy, fighting to restore peace by recovering stolen vampire and werewolf gems. Melding together a mixture of supernatural lore, Kolodziej creates a complex world of conflicting factions, romance, and self-discovery. Vampyre Kisses is an ambitious first novel, epic in scope and complex in its world-building—and while it succeeds on some fronts, it falls short on others. One of the novel’s strongest points is its highly detailed world-building, which combines contemporary vampire, werewolf, and witch lore with older myths such as Circe and ancient gods. As a matter of fact, my favourite character was Oran the volucris, a shape-shifting flying cat who can grow from the size of a kitten with wings to a giant leopard you can fly on. On top of that, not only were all supernatural factions represented, but their respective nemeses as well: slayers, hunters, and Salt Whips. Kolodziej has clearly put a lot of thought and research into the setting—perhaps even to her own detriment, as occasionally certain facts and myths were discussed despite having no bearing on the plot. Not only is the world-building complex, but the plot covers a vast scope as well: throughout the course of the novel Faith discovers the supernatural, realizes she is the last witch alive, falls in love with Trent, trains and grows into her powers, and recovers the stolen gems in a major final battle. That is a lot of ground to cover in a 200+ page novel, and I feel the characterization suffered as a result — so much happens that we don’t have the time to get to know the characters. Faith’s progression from weak ‘normal’ human to capable witch comes about rather suddenly, Faith and Trent’s relationship for the most part skips the delicious uncertain stage and jumps right to the honeymoon, and even the initial reveal comes too quickly—for someone with no knowledge of the supernatural world, Faith is far too observant of Trent’s ‘otherness’ for it to be believable (e.g. thinking he is “too pale even for the city” where a normal person would rationalize his paleness). Also hurting the characterization were the numerous one-dimensional background characters, amongst which the villains, and the werewolf and vampire extras. It doesn’t help that many of the names used were lacking in originality—other than the protagonists, there was Mr Zack Zanwick (Faith’s boss), and even a club called Club X. As for the writing, like with many debuts, Vampyre Kisses reads very much like a first novel, complete with purple prose of the Twilight variety. A distinguishing factor is that the chapters alternate between Faith’s and Trent’s first person point of view, which gives the reader some interesting insight, although the style is not always consistent: the one-off chapter from Morgan’s point of view and the last three chapters in third person were a little jarring. Furthermore, while I enjoyed the switching point of view between Faith and Trent, the several repeated scenes (first from Faith’s point of view, then from Trent’s) were a little tedious—the tactic worked well initially, but lost its efficacy with subsequent repetitions. Overall, Kolodziej has some talent, but it’s still rather raw and underdeveloped. Vampyre Kisses would be a much stronger piece if it were made more cohesive and — most importantly – tighter. Streamlined. Kolodziej has some wonderful ideas which lose their power in the execution, but as this is the first in a series I can only hope Kolodziej will continue to improve and give readers the chance to fall in love with her characters.

Human girl meets mysterious guy who later turns out to be a vampire! Girl has some vague destiny, vampire has eating disorder, things get in their way of true happiness…lost you yet? Well none of this applies to “Vampyre Kisses”. “Vampyre Kisses” is a new book from brand new author Elizabeth J. Kolodziej. Yes, Faith is a human girl with a destiny, but she is also a witch, the last of her kind. Trent is a vampire, but he is not your average brooding Baranbas, Angel or Edward. He has a destiny as well and if anything he is just anxious about it. Fate has thrown these two together and together they hold the fate of the supernatural creatures of Kolodziej’s world. Not related to anything, but I kept imagining Faith looking like Fiona Apple. Nothing in the text lead me to that, just the first woman that came to mind. Yes. There are things in this book we have seen before, not just creatures but plots and circumstances. The difference here, and it’s the difference that makes the book worth getting, is that Kolodziej’s world is very rich and detailed (sometimes too detailed, but I’ll get to that). No Trent is not a Sparkler, he is a vampire, but he is cut from the modern cloth of vampires and more to the point he wants to be more. Faith could have been just another vapid little Gothamite doing 9-5 and partying, but she knows early on there is more going on than just that. In lesser hands these characters would have been annoying characters, or rather caricatures, but thankfully they get much more interesting as the tale weaves on. It is told from the point of view, alternately of both Faith and Trent. Kolodziej does a great job of giving us the proper voice for each character and it is rather easy to hear that voice in your head. There are complications galore including a romantic rival in the form of a werewolf. A minor criticism, in the beginning of the tale Kolodziej has so much to tell us that she tends to over tell it. I see this as exactly what it is; she was very excited to tell her tale, had all these ideas and wanted to get them out on to the page as fast as she could. It did slow down as the story progressed and a good rhythm was established. Though every once in a while we are hit with a lot of information. While I am calling this a “minor criticism” it is also part of the book’s charm. The author has so much to say and has built up the myths of her world that she just seems excited to tell it all to us. That’s what future books are for. The book does read like the first book of so many authors, so the pacing is odd at times and there are odd word choices here and there, but that is all something that will work out. Once the pace though is set and the story begins in earnest then you want to keep going and learning more. The book reminds me a bit of the first “Anita Blake” book. The mythology of this book is well thought out and great care is given to it. Kolodziej is building a world here, not just a novel. I bet if you asked her she could tell you 10 generations of Faith’s ancestors, names and all. Even if she can’t, the book feels like she could. Admittedly I am not the target audience for this sort of tale. I prefer my vampires darker, my witches more mysterious and werewolves as ravaging beasts. That all being said there is a good tale here and an interesting set of myths. This could very well be the start of a new series of modern supernatural novels that everyone will be talking about, and if not it is also an enjoyable read and in the end isn’t what we want? Kolodziej shares her world with us and we all enjoy it. I am pleased to hear there is a second book coming. She has built up a lot mythology here and there is plenty for a lot of books.

Vampyre Kisses is the first installment of "The Last Witch" series. This is a YA series that is suitable for teens. I was asked to be a part of a tour for Book 2 so I figured I'd better read Book 1 *teehee* At first I thought that I had gotten in over my head, I didn't think I was going to like the book at all and I hate to give a bad review and I WON'T do a bad review as part of a tour! But I really didn't want to back out since the Author seems to be a genuinely nice person :) I'm really glad Vampyre Kisses is the first installment of "The Last Witch" series. But I really didn't want to back out since the Author seems to be a genuinely nice person :) I'm really glad I stuck in there though :) In the beginning of the book it didn't seem to go forward very much. The charachter perseption changes in each chapter but it seemed as though I read the same thing in Chapter two as I read in Chapter 1. Don't worry though this DOES CHANGE! After maybe the first 4 chapters I was really able to get into this book. I really enjoyed it from there on out. I know, I know...you have to have the information in the beginning though and a lot of REALLY good books are hard to get into in the beginning! Elizabeth did a GREAT job keeping my interest though. Faith seems somewhat content with her life but feels there isn't enough excitement. She is tired of doing the same thing day in and day out. Faith doesn't know her true abilities until she meets the love of her life who introduces her to a trainer who shows her the most inportant things she needs to know about being a witch. The vampire race's Blood Gem has been stolen along with the werewolf' race's Moon Gem. It is up to Faith and all her friends to find the gems and return them to their rightful owners. Faith and her friends overcome many obstacles including finding out that Faith's own mother is one of their biggest enemies and that Faith herself would have to fight her. The battle is short in the end but keeps you on the edge of your seat. I am pleased with the way the book ended and can't wait to start Book 2 Recommended for anyone 13 or older. Vampyre Kisses took me by surprise. I was expecting the typical tale of forbidden love between a mortal and a vampire (Thanks a whole lot, Twilight, for bringing that flood upon us). Witches have been eliminated but families live on, and the power is in the bloodline. If certain circumstances unfold in just the right way (like a female child being born to the right family), what once was could be again. I was intrigued by the importance given to family and bloodlines. Lineage determines witches, slayers, and guardians. It was a very interesting concept that made a whole lot of sense. Another interesting concept was the history of vampires. Their creation is explained in a brand new way, along with introducing a new twist on daywalkers and why vampires can't tolerate sunlight. The book has an interesting format, where each chapter is from the viewpoint of a different character. I usually hate this set-up because it's hard to keep any mystery or suspense going when you can see the thoughts of more than just one character. It turns out to not be a problem, though, because Mrs. Kolodziej does a great job of dangling just enough info to tease you, without giving away too much. The result is a fascinating page-turner that will keep you wanting more. I think Vampyre Kisses is a great read, and should be read by anyone who enjoys paranormal fantasy/urban fiction and wants to explore territory that remains, for the most part, untouched by other books in the genre.I just hope that a Book Two will be on the horizon.

Trent was an instant favorite of mine. He didn't feel like a typical vampire or any that I've met through the Twilight series, the House of Night series, or the vampire books L.J. Smith introduced to the world. And vampires aren't the only ones to fall in love with. I felt like I was inside Faith's head in a way that made me cheer her on as she faced not only physical battles but also emotional ones. And speaking of physical battles, the fight scenes in this book are packed with tension. If I had to pick one thing I disliked, I'd have to say it was the prologue. I'm not a fan of prologues in general. But I found the old-fashioned language difficult to read. I understand why it was used and it's completely justified, but personally, I didn't care for it. I was very happy when chapter one came and I got to see Faith's voice, which is much more my style. The ultimate test for me is whether or not I think about a book when I'm not reading it. And with VAMPYRE KISSES I did. I found myself wondering what would happen to Faith and Trent and how things would unfold in this world of vampyres, witches, werewolves, slayers, and gods. If you are a fan of vampires, you should check out VAMPYRE KISSES. It's worth you time.

The way it ended seemed to me as there will be a sequel, in which i will get asap! I recommened this book. Faith is a young women who has an average job, with an average aparatment in the city. You can say she's average. Her has passed away and she loved him dearly. She has her mom, but is not that closed to her. Overall, she has a boring life. That's until she learns the truth about her father, the secrests of her mother and a huge secret about herself. While all this chaos begins and in the middle of it all, she meets Trent and is falling for him, but can she trust him after everything she knew turns out to be something else? You HAVE to read this book, it's amazing.!

Wow this one was fun! The author is really good at creating her own mythology, and it's not the conventional human/vampire romance. And Oran, oh I loved that flying cat! Toward the last part of the book it got really hard to follow because of the amount of characters and their ~backstories~ but it was okay overall. Wow this one was fun! They all find themselves embarking on a journey to help Faith find her new found powers, to discover that they all must work together to Save the Races. They must discover who has stolen the gems, teach Faith her powers in time, find the master of the witches and fight with their enemies to regain back what is meant to be. A rollercoaster ride with twists and turns at every page. Well I must say after finding out that this is Elizabeth’s first story I must say I was impressed. I loved it!! Vampyre Kisses – is not at all what you would expect from a title like this, yes it does have vampires !! But the whole concept behind it is very unique!! Elizabeth has created A World: unique of its own filled with an array of paranormal creatures that will have you in your element. From Vampires, Werewolves, Witches, Shape-shifters, to even a creature as cute a kitten, that transforms into a creature not of this world. The world building is fascinating and all are all on a mission to save the races!! Faith is the key! Elizabeth’s world of paranormals is filled with details that will have you captivated and enthralled only wanting to read more. She has even included tid bits of history - Kick arse action scenes, sensual and romantic moments, and curve balls that will have you turning just to find out more. Magical moments that I’m sure that will have your interest piqued, great creativity that blends through the entire read. An intriguing storyline: story told in two POV’s both Trent and Faith. A little confusing at times, but remember when reading whose Pov your reading from and it will run smoothly!!! The descriptions are well placed and easily envisaged, and a climax I’m sure will have your interest till the very last page... I enjoyed all the characters placed in this read, all necessary and used well throughout... Some more likeable than others, a mother I would quiet easily have disowned, and a hunk of a Vampire ** Irish one at that ** that I could quiet easily be necking with!! ** grins ** Villains’ that you hate, and a pompous fortune teller- psychic who will have you in fits of laughter at his attire!! (( slightly reminds me of Elton John and Dame Ednah )) lol.. Faith was strong willed and kind- and caring to even those when harm has been bestowed upon her. Her strong will and determination is well defined making her a likeable and courageous character. Trent was not a sulky type, he was a strong character looking for love !! His love and protectiveness towards faith was sweet and caring and they shared a sensual and caring relationship. A great blend of emotions told throughout, from love, to loss, and even anger- all well described and also greatly detailed. Filled with passion and excitement *Vampyre Kisses** is a must read for anyone who loves A paranormal element with a little magic and danger.. Overall a story I would recommend to all.. Nothing is quiet as I seems !!! Even a kiss !

She’s never felt comfortable around her mother so she avoids her. Living in her tiny apartment and not enjoying her job, Faith has lost sight of her dreams. Her father once told her she would cause others to have faith in her. He had such great dreams for her. Now all of that seems to have died with him. On a whim, she goes to a club with her best friend Mac. It’s not her normal thing but it’s been a while since she did anything fun. She spends the night dancing and she meets the gorgeous and mysterious Trent. Feeling strangely drawn to Trent, Faith finds her life taken over by a supernatural world that a day ago she didn’t even know existed. Even more surprising to Faith is that she is part of that world. Now she must learn to control her new found power in time to help those she has quickly come to care about. Will Faith have the faith to succeed? Will others have faith in her as her father said? My thoughts: 2 stars- not my taste This book creates a slightly different take on the vampire world. I quickly got into it but then I was a little overwhelmed with all the different aspects of it. It confused me and I struggled to keep it all straight. There were so many things going on including vampires, werewolves, witches, slayers, hunters, salt whips, guardians, shape shifters, and magical creatures. With each of those came one or more characters. I felt like I couldn’t keep up. Along with this, I frequently had to stop and reread pages. I don’t know if I was just overwhelmed with all of it or if I was just missing things but I would find myself trying to understand how something just happened. When Faith meets Trent, I was very interested in him. The reaction between the two was quick and intense. He had some mystery about him that I was interested in learning about. There was this instant devotion between the two that I wanted to grow. I was disappointed in the time that they got to be together before things fell apart. I guess the timing of the book was off to me. Things I thought should last longer didn’t and things I wanted to end quickly went on. Anyway, their relationship was just odd almost scattered to me. There were questions I had at the end that weren’t answered. Or rather there were plot points that I wish had been explored. One was the Vampyre Kiss. I loved this part of the story. It is unique and has such potential but it only came up for one short scene. That disappointed me. Another was the blood binding. I loved how this brought Trent and Faith together but I wished there had been more of it. I have to include the ending to this list as well. It happened too fast and too easy. I would have loved to see more details and maybe a few more setbacks. Faith grows though this book into a strong, “I can take care of myself” kind of witch. I like that and I’m interested in finding out what’s next for her. I guess I just wish her story could have been less confusing and stronger. You may feel different. Others have.

I do like the characters in the story but found myself wanting more from them. Would love to get more of the back story on the secondary characters. There are two points of view in the story, Faith and Trent. This works well with the story in some parts but not in others. It works best when they are on their separate quests. It doesn’t work well the first time that they meet. This meeting didn’t need to be told from both points of view, it ends up being confusing. I personally at first was wondering if the book was misprinted with the same scene twice. Faith is a strong character but takes to the whole being a witch complication in her life pretty quickly. Getting over the death of her father hasn’t been easy. She feels like her life's in a rut and being a witch just seems to make sense to her and is something new to accomplish. Trent the vampire is kind of boring at first but becomes more interesting as he gets to know faith. As the reader finds out more about Trent he does become a more intriguing character. My favorite characters from the story are Z.T. and Morgan. Morgan is a character that I would love to know more about, especially the whole being the prophet/vessel for the very first vampire. Z.T. is a great character because for the reader he represents the werewolves and lets the reader see how their hierarchy works versus the vampires. It really bothered me who the main enemy was. How quickly this enemy comes about and the reasoning for it makes you go, Well, really... and the motivation for it feels shaky. The pacing is all over the place, first they barely know each other and then they jump to love just a little fast. I would have liked to see Faith's witch training go on longer because it was a lot of fun to see the trials that she has to go through. The mission to find the bad guys and why they started the war should have lasted longer. It would be nice to know more of their motivation and have more fight scenes. The end battle seems to come out of nowhere and ends way too quickly. Overall I really like the ideas and mythology that are put forth but the pacing of everything just threw me for a loop.

She stood up for others and did not want anyone getting hurt or killed over her. A compassionate, loving soul who took her new identity seriously. Morgan was a great character. One of the oldest vampires in the story, she is quite lethal, yet she was very motherly and protective of Faith. She was also the prophet for the ancient vampire god, Kane. Mega cool. Akilah was an interesting character and my favorite. He was charged with teaching new witches their craft. I loved his personality and how he didn’t put up with shit and pushed Faith. He reminded me of Pei Mei from Kill Bill. :) *snicker* One of the smaller but equally important characters, Oran, stole my heart. I won’t describe him because I would hate to ruin his awesomeness for you. I definitely loved that Elizabeth wrote him into the story as often as she did. I adored him. He is full of WIN. There are some things I did not particularly like about the book, however. The books switches POVs, which I have no problem with. However, one scene is seen through Faith’s eyes, and then we again see it through Trent’s eyes. This happened only once, in the beginning, and it felt odd. I was glad it wasn’t that way throughout. Sadly, I did not feel the connection between Faith and Trent. It all happened to quickly for me, and while this has occurred in other books, their romance just didn’t seem real. I enjoyed them together, but the whole “I love you” bit was odd and unnatural to me. I was also sad that Ireland didn’t come into play until the story is about 75% finished, and it is where the big showdown occurs, so not much of Ireland is seen or spoken about. *sniff* Sequel, maybe…? All in all, I enjoyed the story and the characters. The camaraderie amongst the characters was nice. The mixture of vampires, weres and witches was done well, and I enjoyed the adventure and struggles Faith and team experienced

This novel is mostly about a woman named Faith who is bored with her life then she meets Trent and all sorts of interesting things start happening. First off being she learns of vampires and that she is a witch but not only that but the last witch. When beginning this book I have to admit I had my doubts as it had a very rough start to me and the formal speech that we get from the vampires really bothered me at first but was eventually something I got used to and have now come to expect from this author. The first person point of view made it very hard to connect with the characters, it seemed to choreographed for my taste but around page 70 or so we really start to see the authors talent for writing come through and the novel immerses you in the world of vampire, werewolves, goddess/gods and of course a witch. Oh, and Oran the flying cat, how could I forget him? :) My biggest problem with this novel? The first couple of chapters we go from Trent's point of view to Faith's, nothing was wrong with that except that the author would repeat things we already learned from one POV in the other. It is always nice to know what the other character is thinking but this was right down to the detail and one of them being wrong. Example: In Trent's POV Faith ask how old he is, he says he is 27 and asks if she is 22. In Faiths POV of this same conversation, she asks how old he is, he says he is 25 and ask if she is 20. Luckily her age is the same in both parts, 23. Now that was only one thing and may only be something that was in my Ebook/review copy I got from the author, so if you buy this novel the same might not be said in your copy but I do think it bears mentioning. So even with the rocky start the book did get pretty interesting and hold my attention for the rest of the novel. Also I am curious to see what happens in the next novel Werewolf Descent as the book did end on pretty good note for me when all was said and done. I think I would recommend this to anyone looking for a paranormal read. *I received an Ebook copy of this book for free to review from the author.

Vampyre Kisses is the debut novel from Elizabeth Kolodziej. This book was epic on multiple levels. I read a lot of paranormal- there are no less than 4 series of vampire books on the shelf beside me as I type this- so I love to find an author who can create a world that isn't s cookie cutter replica of someone else's vampires/werewolves. I really liked this book and am SO excited to know that it is part of a series and not a stand alone. What would it be like to have a chance encounter change your life forever? Faith Scott is about to find out. When she goes out to a club with her ex turned best friend, Mac, Faith meets a man named Trent who is about to turn her world inside out. Trent is a vampire with a conscience. He doesn't want to force anyone into the life he leads and he doesn't like to kill anyone. Trent feels a bit like a monster, even if he does appreciate the vampire life. But he secretly hopes to one day find love and someone who will love him in return, even if he is a monster. When he meets Faith, he is so intrigued by her that he can not simply walk away from her, no matter how much his friends and maker might try to convince him that he should. Trent can sense that there is something different about her even if he doesn't know what it is. Meeting Trent is the catalyst that sends Faith on an epic journey, over the course of which, she learns many things about herself, her dearly departed father and her off-putting mother. Faith builds her own family of friends who love her and stand beside her, even in the face of the uncertain. This book was a fun read that really hooked me after I got going. It was hard to step away from because the action was so fast and furious. The characters really drew me in and made me want to know what was going to happen and how would they make it through. I love Faith and Trent together. Their love and friendship was heart warming and sweet. I also love the other supporting characters like Morgan, Mac and ZT. Faith is lucky to have such a great group of friends! This book comes highly recommended so go check it out!!

It's been a while for me since my last book about witches and, so far, I think this is one of the bests. At the beginning of the story we have Faith, an average girl that was actually, quite bored of her life. A while ago she had lost her dad and, for some reason her mother seems to dislike her a lot (such a mother material here...). Soon al of this is about to change as she becomes friends with Trent (may I say, I like his name a lot. Don't ask me why, I just do xD), a caring and protective vampire that is supposed to stay away from her. But he can't, obviously because there is something different about Faith... she has the "vampyre kiss". Hum? You want to know what is it? Then read the book xD No, really, read it. Elizabeth created a really good story, strong characters and wonderful creatures, like Oran. I think he is the pet every person would love to have... I'm a huge fan of cats, you see, and Oran is a volucris, a creature that in it's small size looks like a kitty with tiny wings that he hides in his fur and, in his real form he looks more like a leopard with huge Pegasus wings. Who wouldn't want a pet/friend like that?! Of course we also have the "love triangle" between Faith, Trent and Zou Tai, a werewolf prince and almost Faith's killer. Think of Trent as a serious, handsome, caring and strong protector (although he can make good jokes) and then Zou Tai -his family originates from Thailand- who is more like a funny, hot and sweet friend. I can't choose a team, they are both great in their own way. I like vampires, I like werewolves and I like witches a lot and this book mixes all of them in a pleasant way. Think of it, if you discover you are the last witch and your new best friends are all from the supernatural world, wouldn't you be happy? Plus, there is a war coming and Faith is the only one that can save them all. And by "all" I mean all the vampires and werewolves out there. And I'm heading off to read the second part! Yay! :D

Then Faith’s witchery ancestry emerges and she accepts this hidden part of her identity and tries to connect with it. The premise for this story is quite interesting but there were some problems in its execution. Firstly, the ‘voice’ was confusing. It is written as first POV for Faith as well as Trent with alternating chapters. The first four chapters are basically the same two scenes just retold from Faith and Trent’s perspective. I didn’t feel this was necessary as I didn’t really learn anything new from this strategy. Then the ending switches to third person and brings together all the characters from a narrator perspective. I think this confusion could have been solved by having the whole story in third person. The second issue I had with the story were the characters and the romance. Although I could connect with Faith in some ways, her motives were sometimes unclear. Trent was quite a detached character who I just didn’t connect with at all. And their first meeting did not ooze the chemistry that I would expect to have set up the rest of the story with them working together on various challenges. I also think it would have been more interesting if the vampires and werewolves were left out of the story as the witch storyline is what really drew me to this novel in the first place. As I said, Vampyre Kisses had an intriguing premise but there were some things I didn't like. However, if you would like a different spin on the paranormal genre with the witchery element in it you may find this enjoyable. I just don’t think it was for me.

She wrote the details very well. Nothing stopped me from reading it to the last pages, although in first few chapters, there are some disrupting repetition. But after that the pace was flowing fast and well explained. Another interesting part from this book was the surprises which could be found almost in every chapters. It kept me guessing what happened next. The story was told by two different point of view, Faith and Trent. There was also from Morgan and one from the sight unseen. I thought it was little bit inconsistent and just too many. But I knew everyone in the book better with this kind of format. Faith, the main character in this book. She was a fragile, independent woman. Nothing was interesting in her life. she was far from what we mentioned as happy. Those were all things that I could describe about her before Trent, whom Faith fell for, came and everything seemed to changed. From his eyes, I got many new thing about Faith. He himself was one reason why I read this book until the end. It was not difficult to fall for him. I loved the relation between them. Besides Faith and Trent, I met many characters. It was not hard to distinguish each of them. Although I do not write them here, all I can say is some of them are quite interesting. Let's say Akilah, Max, Oran the Familiar, or even Gordon. You can find them all by reading this book. I recommended this book for those of you who are a big fan of vampire or any supernatural creatures

Author Elizabeth Kolodziej’s debut novel, VAMPYRE KISSES, introduces us to Faith, a young woman who leads a boring life. When she meets Trent, however, her life and indeed her whole world change. Told in alternating chapters from both Faith’s and Trent’s points of view, we follow Faith as she learns that she is a witch, discovers her powers, and falls in love with the vampire, Trent. She also is attracted to Zou Tai, werewolf, which adds a bit of friction between the two guys who have caught her fancy. The story contains plenty of action to keep the plot moving. There are occasions where descriptions of clothing and such are a little detailed, slowing down the pace, but not for very long. Together, Faith and Trent face each danger with bravery and sometimes humor, and I found myself cheering them on to succeed in defeating their enemy and for Faith to live happily ever after, with whichever guy she chooses. At times there were so many different characters that I had trouble remembering who each of them was. Ms. Kolodziej’s story, however, held my attention as the plot unfolded. VAMPYRE KISSES should appeal to lovers of the vampire and witch’s genre. The author’s apparent knowledge of vampire and werewolf lore also lends an authentic touch to the story. A nice look at the world of vampires, witches, and other intriguing characters.

I met Elizabeth J. Kolodziej at this year's Book Blogger Convention and while I didn't realize at first that she was a novelist, I was happily surprised when she told me about her book. I am grateful to her for loaning me her last physical copy (as I've mentioned before, I'm a little less than excited about ebooks.) I will be purchasing my own copy to add to my keeper shelves as I loved it so much the first time, I know I'll want to read it again and again. And now, my review. I have to say I love strong female leads and this book definitely has that. It has a good solid love story at the base of it, but it is so much more. There are witches, werewolves, vampires, gods, and who knows what else will come in the next book. I can only imagine the hours of research she put into this book as there are ample references to folklore and mythology that is intricately woven into the story. Some people may not like it, but I enjoyed how she spends the first couple of chapters going back and forth from Faith and Trent's perspectives at times overlapping to give you a more rounded view, but to also expand on the events as it effects each of them. I thought it added a little something extra to the story as it unfolds. I found that the writing strongly conveyed the challenges and the accomplishments of Faith as she grows into her powers and accepts what she must do. Beautifully descriptive and yet it doesn't get lost in the descriptions, moving the story along at a good pace and leaving you wanting more. I'm super excited that the next in The Last Witch series, Werewolf Descent, will be released as an ebook later this month and in print shortly thereafter.

I got this book yesterday and I started it today. Already love the beginning! I finished this book on Nov 12th. It was a great book. I love the world that Elizabeth created. The story line evolves and evolves and just keeps getting better. I found myself so excited each time I learned a new characters background and found out their secrets and hidden talents. I am very seriously ready for the next book. I think that Elizabeth is going to progress into a super writer and continue to wow her fans for years to come. Elizabeth switches POV's throughout the story. Sometimes this can be confusing but overall, it is great to see the story unfold through various main characters. This also helps you to build up the realness of these characters. I would highly recommend this book if you are fan of vampires, witches, wolves and the paranorma. You will love the Paranormal world of Faith & Trent. Thanks! Mindy

Trent's voice came off rather stilted and old fashioned which may have been on purpose since he was an older vampire. That did a great job of making Faith appear newer, younger and fresher than Trent. There is a retelling of scenes from each character's point of view that give insight into what each character felt about the event which was interesting. This isn't too gory that a teen couldn't or wouldn't enjoy it and my teen thought it was enjoyable. It also had a bit of mystery revealed throughout which kept me reading in order to figure out how Faith got mixed up in this intricate dark world. I give Vampyre Kisses 3.5 stars.

This is a good first book. The author's writing improves dramatically as she settles into her story and characters. I found the story creative and engaging. And the sexy vampire, Trent, didn't hurt matters . The relationship between Faith and Trent seemed very natural and real. The author does a great job of building the romance and making it sexy, but sweet. Did I mention that Trent is swoon worthy ?
