DuBois literately and powerfully evokes the African-American experience. I read this first in college, over forty years ago, and re-reading it now is both depressing and anger-provoking. How little has changed in 100 years! If you can't believe that, read just DuBois' introduction together with Coates' Between the World and Me, then decide what you can do to truly work for change.
