This book is the newest addition to my new "gift-worthy" list. I got to test out a few of the recipes a few weeks ago when I made brunch for 7 of us. Unfortunately, I don't have photos to show the yummies as my camera was out of commission during that time. I will tell you what I used from the fantastic book: Vanilla Buttermilk Waffles Maple Butter Crunchy Bananas with Cinnamon Chili Chocolate Sauce I also made the required bacon and sausage with coffee and orange juice. I will tell you what I used from the fantastic book: Vanilla Buttermilk Waffles Maple Butter Crunchy Bananas with Cinnamon Chili Chocolate Sauce I also made the required bacon and sausage with coffee and orange juice. I am thrilled to report that it was a resounding success. We've used the maple butter a few times since then. The recipes are very clear and easy to understand. Lots of full color photographs aid in making these delightful dishes (as well as enticing you to hurry up and make it!) The authors take the everyday cook into account with these scrumptious concoctions. My next experiment will be their Split Pea Soup. It's a long-cooking recipe that is making my mouth water just writing about it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys trying great new recipes or collects fabulous cookbooks. Very gift-worthy!

See those pancakes on the cover? I made those! They turned out just as beautifully. A word of warning though, I would cut this recipe in half unless you have a football team lurking around. I used all of the batter and froze the remaining pancakes. One minute in the microwave and they tasted almost better than the fresh made ones. I have read about other cooks doing this with pancakes, but never tried it myself. I put them in zip lock bags with wax paper in between. I put them in zip lock bags with wax paper in between. Now whenever I want pancakes, I just put a couple in the microwave for about 45 seconds. My son is still talking about how good the maple butter was and it was quite simple to make. I also put aside some of that in the refrigerator for use later. The recipes are all really good and I am working my way through the book. I found that they were quite easy to follow. All of the direction are clear and concise. The ingredients are easy to find, so no worries there like some other cookbooks. This is definitely a keeper for me.

When I first got this book, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it contained recipes that were not all baking. Mouthwatering, beautiful photographs accompany recipes for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and dessert. There were so many I flagged to make in the near future and I can't wait to try them! So far, I made one of their cookie recipes. I love to bake, and their "Brookie" recipe had me curious - a cross between a brownie and a cookie. An added bonus was the chocolate aroma that filled my house as they were baking.

I seen this cookbook from another blogger named bookhounds and just had to try it. It has become one of my favorites to use, I loved it! I have found several recipes that worked out wonderful for me and my family. I love all the pictures and little notes they give you. There are recipes for Biscuits, Muffins and Scones, Eggs, pancakes, soups, Sandwiches, fried chicken, sides, condiments, desserts and drinks. The eggs section OMG! I love this cookbook, and let me assure you it's not just baking. There is all kinds of different dishes to make. I went through the whole recipe book, and was hard-pressed between 2 recipes, the one I chose and Clinton St. Burgers. I'm so glad I chose the cookies, they are a hit, though I aim to still try those burgers! The cookies were amazing! They tasted more like shortbread to me, and my whole family loved them. For sure a solid recommendation from me to any household, as long as you can follow instruction, you can cook!

I won this book on goodreads. What a gift! I really like this cookbook for lots of reasons. First, the photography is great. It is simple and honest plus I like how it really shows the texture of the foods. It is also enticing. I want to eat most of what they photograph! The narratives that introduce each chapter are interesting and filled with tips. Plus, it is fun to read about the relationship the chef and owner has with each category of food. I love to bake and recipes intrigue me but those unusual and hard to find ingredients can really be costly and can be difficult to find. The recipes also have some very helpful and descriptive notes that make the baking or cooking of these items that much easier I also like how they often add a "restaurant trick" category of notes. They offer neat tricks and sometimes explain some of the science behind the baking/cooking. As a vegetarian I really liked that my type of foods were well represented and many of the recipes seem to be adjustable for my liking. I also loved that condiment recipes are offered. I own a lot of cookbooks and this is very unique. I can't wait to make the guacamole! Lastly, yum! Delicious recipes. But where can I find the adorable European baking cups?

I WON this book from goodreads. and Wow! Great cover art not to mention the delicious pictures inside. I like the paragraphs introducing the recipes, too. Not low fat (since the recipe includes 6 eggs and quite a bit of melted butter in the batter but it is spread out in 4 cups of flour which is twice what a regular recipe makes)but it's great eating. Since I have made it exactly as written(except that I did not add the sugar) several times, tonight - yes, for supper, I added 1 cup of cooked Scottish or steel cut oats. It was still super. My husband will appreciate the added oats while my kids didn't mind it at all. I recommend if you want to make it lowfat make it as written the first couple of times before making it lower fat just so you know what a great, rich, naturally healthy taste it has to it.

This is a beautiful photo-ladened cookbook that features breakfast and brunch foods, including desserts and cocktails. The recipes are clear and easy to follow (though perhaps a bit more complex than those found in the average community group cookbook) and use ingredients, which if not regular pantry staples at my house, are things my husband could locate at our normal grocery store. This hard cover book has sooo many delicious looking recipes. It has 10 different sections. Biscuits, muffins & scones, eggs, pancakes, soups, sandwiches, fried chicken, sides, condiments, desserts, and drinks. I will definitely be trying the fried chicken and pancakes. the fried chicken is soaked in buttermilk first before frying. And the pancakes , you incorporate egg whites to make them light and fluffy. Everything has easy to follow directions. And pictures to show you what it looks like.

One of the best new cookbooks to hit the market in a long time. Delicious recipes, easy-to-follow instructions, and what every cookbook needs, beautiful photos.
