This is one of the best Love Inspired Suspense novels. It doesn't rush the events or the relationship. Derrick and Emilie's relationship develops over months, not days. Wow, just wow! I have a lot to say about this book so hear (well read) me out! (I've never written a review this long before)! Let me start with the one and only downer, and then you'll see why this book is so amazing that it overcame it. I figured out who the person was behind the "Sabotage" from the first time the character was introduced! I could just tell through the whole book that that was who it was; major kill joy right? Normally that would put me off a book, but this book had me so wrap Wow, just wow! I have a lot to say about this book so hear (well read) me out! (I've never written a review this long before)! Normally that would put me off a book, but this book had me so wrapped up that I still couldn't put it down! What a fantastic story! The characters were amazing, and not cheesy like the last three books I have read from Love Inspired. It spent less time talking about them mooning over each other, and more time being realistic. So many of these books are 70% pining and 30% story, but not this one! It showed their feelings in a realistic way while they were still dealing with life and their working relationship. You still got inside their heads, feelings, and emotions, but it wasn't the whole story. You got more interaction and dialogue between them than their usual long winded sappy back and forth thoughts and feelings (i.e. major mooning and pining) for paragraph after paragraph in italicized writing (you know how they do it in these books) but not in this one! Like I said the thoughts and feelings they did express in their minds felt very realistic and true to the moments, (but that could just be because that's more of how I think). The setting for this book was great, and accurate. I definitely can see that the author is a horse girl and knows her stuff. I liked that Derrick wasn't the generic cookie cutter that I've been noticing in some of these books lately. I like that for once the main chick in the book had had some past flaws (and wasn't portrayed as the perfect princess) she had been a little bit snobby and selfish in the past; just unaware of what was outside her goals really. This author takes you through some realistic problems that people face, especially with relationships (among-st family as well as those we fall in love with), with ourselves, and in finding our relationship with God. For once I didn't notice a ton of grammatical errors either(like I often do in love inspired); it felt like she didn't just breeze through to get to her deadline, but knew what she was doing and took the time and care to make sure the story and writing was right. So in the end I would call this a great book with fantastic writing, characters, setting, story line, and plot twists. It's very down to Earth and realistic which I love; and there's no way any horse woman isn't going to love this. You may not feel this is worth a five star if you're not into the whole equestrian scene, hey I'm a little bias, but I still think it would be worth the time to read. What a great author, I'm going to look for her other books right now! Your search has ended here though, stop and read this one!

Emilie is grieving over her dear friend's death and wants somebody to help her find the truth. Derrick is the only one who will. But can she keep her heart safe while finding the truth? Derick is a Christian and is very attracted to Emilie. He knows that he cannot get involved with her since she is not a believer. The romance is only luke-warm in this book. The suspense is interesting - kept me guessing, though I had some correct suspicions from the beginning - and some incorrect. Though the story was pretty predictable, it was interesting to read how it all played out.

I got this book from my sister who reads lots of romance. This is a Love inspired suspense book. I’ve read a few romance novels lately and I liked the fact that this was not the ‘formula’ romance. I figured out who was the killer early on in the book, but it was still an interesting read. I don’t know a great deal about horses and there was quite a bit of knowledge given throughout the book. The characters were interesting and easy to identify with in the book.

I loved that this didn't feel like a formula romance. By taking place over a course of months instead of days, it was easier to believe Derrick and Emilie's relationship. The personal realization and doubts they experienced really made the book work on a different level. While the ending was a bit of a twist, it was foreshadowed well enough that I didn't find it awkward. I loved that this didn't feel like a formula romance. I gave this book 5 stars for the interesting setting. I didn't know much about horses and Olympic riders, and these details made the book come alive. It's a sweet romance that most folks will enjoy.
