A women in as bad shape as Anthony was being moved from place to place? Joe following? I could not understand the names Anthony and Joe. It was never really explained. There was never an explanation for the argument in the beginning of the book that started the whole storyline. There was no reason for Joe acting the way she does. When she is so out of it and confrontational -- is she high? On some sort of drug? Mental? I overlooked some of the other things people complained about like HIPPA laws- clearly the book was set in a time prior to HIPPA. And Joe was rich and powerful I'm sure she could have paid for any answers. And there were pieces of the story that seem to have been edited at one point, but key pieces were missing. For example, we all know the maid was raped, but I re-read and re-read and still don't see where she was actually killed. I don't know if this was the writers first attempt at a novel, if so, it was a great attempt. I just think that maybe you needed a few honest, removed readers to critique. It has awesome potential and I would recommend it to others. I especially would love to hear their take on it.

The characters are cardboard cut-outs and the action is completely unrealistic. My rating profile skews pretty high, with an average of 4.35, and it takes a lot to get me to abandon a book. A lot of the problems that I've seen so far could have been resolved with a minimal amount of research into things like HIPAA laws and police procedures. How very unfortunate.

I don't know whether to be mad at Ann Marie for writing such a great book or myself for staying up all night to read Where the Sun Sets. It was deliciously dark, emotional and totally had me riveted. I never knew what would happen next or if the characters would make it out alive. The ending caught me by surprise..Good Job!! I won this book for free from the Goodread's First Reads giveaway. "Where the Sun Sets" was overall a good book. The whole book takes place in a 24 hour time period, with flashbacks on the main characters lives. I found a few parts of the novel a little hard to get into and the writing style was sometimes a little choppy. But despite those few things, it generally kept me very entertained; the last few chapters I could not put the book down. But despite those few things, it generally kept me very entertained; the last few chapters I could not put the book down. I did not enjoy Josephine's character at all and found her very hard to relate too! I enjoyed Antonia and Harold's character's the best. There were many parts of the book that made me feel sick to my stomach and brought some tears; I really felt bad for all Antonia had to endure in her life. I usually do not repeat the whole plot in my reviews as I never want to ruin the book for future readers (so please read the book)! ***But, an alert for future readers: this book does contain some disturbing physical and sexual abuse. Just want to warn people as I know some readers that may not be able to handle that well. I would of prefered if some parts of the story were slightly more believable. There are certain cirumstances that should not of took place, such as at the hosptial or at Josephine's house if the police had any common sense. My rating would be around a 3.75/5. I believe this is the author's first book and overall I enjoyed it; she did a great job. I recommend this book for everyone and I am very happy that I won it!

***Received from Goodreads first reads Giveaway I really enjoyed this book. The story is about two women who have been friends since the age of Seven. Antoinia a poor girl who has been abused in every way imaginable and Josephine who is friendless are paired together by a caring nun at their school. Together they form a life long friendship. Things falll apart for both of them when shots ring out at Josephine's home and Antoinia is shot saving her friend. We do need to suspend some belief - doctors and nurses giving out confidentail information, police officers having records at home, etc. But that is easy to get past. This is a book afterall and not real life. There is not a dull moment, much happens in the 24 hours, and I was always curious to see what would happen next. I wont give that away how the book ends but I do encourage people to read the book to learn the ending. I do wish that I knew why Josephine was angry at Antonia at the beginning of the book.

**I won this book through Goodreads First Reads. This is not my typical genre, if I haven't won it I wouldn't even be giving it a second look if I ever saw it on the bookshelf. The story revolves around two girls, their friendship and life. There were parts that were shoddy like the medical records and police reports being given away freely which, if you just happen to stumble upon this book it gives you the idea that the author might be new to writing or that this was self-published. **I won this book through Goodreads First Reads. I found this book to be built up to be more than it was and was a bit let down. I found the writing style to be a bit juvenile and all over the place and the main character Josephine, made me want to pull my hair out! Either way, at least the ending resolved the entire book so, it wasn't too bad. I found this book to be built up to be more than it was and was a bit let down.
