Lachlan Sinclair has made his home in the little fishing village of Port Ness on the Hebridean Isle of Lewis. Remote and beautiful, he has found his niche in life, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It is the sort of magical place where anything can happen...and does. It is a place rife with legends, superstitions and folk lore and it is here that one morning after a particularly stormy night Lachlan meets the love of his life, apparently washed up on the storm strewn shore like a pie Lachlan Sinclair has made his home in the little fishing village of Port Ness on the Hebridean Isle of Lewis. Remote and beautiful, he has found his niche in life, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It is the sort of magical place where anything can happen...and does. It is a place rife with legends, superstitions and folk lore and it is here that one morning after a particularly stormy night Lachlan meets the love of his life, apparently washed up on the storm strewn shore like a piece of flotsam. An astonishingly beautiful young woman "with the most speaking pair of deep brown eyes he had ever seen" gazed at him with curiosity and bewilderment....and she was utterly naked. She had a fey look about her and appeared to be able to see into his darkest secrets. Lachlan was deeply moved, in all the ways a man can be. She said her name was Morven, that was all she knew, but knew instinctively that her destiny was with him. She remembered nothing else, but of that she was sure. This is a beautiful little love story, ethereal and sweet and should be read as such, don't expect any deep plot, it is the story of a powerful love between a man and a woman. What happens when Morven remembers who and what she is, how Lachlan copes with that discovery. A sweet, romantic little novella, compelling in its simplicity, this is the story of an honourable man and a beautiful, unworldly creature. How will they overcome the difficulties which will arise from Morven's strange arrival and origins? Is their love doomed? Read this delightful little novella, you will not be disappointed. I have only in the last year discovered Marguerite Kaye and her fabulous writing. This is one of her earlier books, I am reading and reviewing her latest, far deeper, more involved novels as they are published and backtracking to read her earlier stories in between. Her writing has always been very original and classy, her descriptive passages, second to none. I can see a real development in her writing the more she produces. Long may it continue. Love Marguerite Kaye, one of my all time favourites.

I think the previous two reviews were unfair and I doubt that the last reviewer even read the entire book. By the end of the book it makes sense why Morven was naked on the beach and it wasn't ridiculous at all. This story moved me to tears, it was so beautiful. I'll definitely read this book more than once and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good love story. This is the first book by Marguerite Kaye that I've read but I'm looking foreword to reading more of her books. A retelling of the Selkies myth. Although it's straight up erotica, the writing is surprisingly good, from the sex scenes to the landscape to the emotions. Considering that the whole book is only 90 pages, the characters' emotional journey was well executed. Such a shame the title couldn't have been any more cheap, dirty, cliche, and misleading. She's found by Lachlan, who builds boats and lives in a cottage by the shore. They're very drawn to one another and Morven is sure he is the one, but doesn't know for what. Eventually, she becomes pregnant and her memory begins to return. She realizes that she is a Selkie and that soon she and her child must return to the sea, leaving behind the man she has come to love. She realizes that she is a Selkie and that soon she and her child must return to the sea, leaving behind the man she has come to love. Overall, for a novella, I really liked this one. I wasn't too fond of the insta-love and the fact that the two characters were having sex within twenty minutes of having met one another. I just couldn't figure out what the rush was, especially since this story is set over a nine month period. Would it have made a difference if they'd taken a few weeks to get to know one another before jumping into bed? Other than that, the story was great. There was plenty of angst and passion (more so than usual for this author actually).

This story genuinely made me tear up towards the end! I really love a historical with a hint of paranormal too and this works very well - a recommended read as there was nothing I disliked about it, very unusual for me.

This is a very short book. It just took me about 30 minutes to read - but I did enjoy it. I only wish I could read a full-length story of Morven and Lachlan, with some more crisis and adventure thrown in! I have a few more Marguerite Kaye books on my Kobo, looking forward to checking them out.

A perfect example that a good buy is not necessarily a good deal - even if it's free. One's time is worth something. A perfect example that a good buy is not necessarily a good deal - even if it's free. One's time is worth something.

reads like a sweet ephemeral folk tale, dreamy portrayal of thoughts and feelings fit the story.

Ridiculous! They meet on a beach (her naked) and then they are his house doing it! Total waste of time! In the 1st 20 pages of the 73 page book they had done it 5 times at least!
