What??? What was that? I thought I was reading a story. Even a short story. But instead I got a SHORT preview of what could have been a story. I don't think it was even 2 chapters. I'm not really sure what it was. I'm just glad I didn't pay for it. J. M. I know you write short stories but I'm ashamed for you that you even tried to put this out. I shows nothing but laziness to me. What??? What was that? I thought I was reading a story. Even a short story. But instead I got a SHORT preview of what could have been a story. Sometimes we can see things with our hearts that we can't see with our eyes. In 'Render' by J.M. Snyder, Corey is temporarily blinded. In the isolation imposed upon him by his accident, Corey has more time to think; he is able to focus on life in a different way. He begins to consider the people around him and how they fit into his life. He worries that he will never see things the way he did before and learns whom he can rely on, whom he truly wants to depend on, and comes to the conclusion tha Sometimes we can see things with our hearts that we can't see with our eyes. He begins to consider the people around him and how they fit into his life. He worries that he will never see things the way he did before and learns whom he can rely on, whom he truly wants to depend on, and comes to the conclusion that his rendition of one person in particular, Ian, his best friend, has changed into something more. This is a poignant, tender, passionate story about two men realizing that their feelings for each other have changed into something beautiful. I enjoyed 'Render' and I recommend it to anyone who wants to read a short, sweet, romantic story.

The main character was just too whiny. Sure, it's easy for me to say, I have never been temporarily blind, I get that, but his blindness wasn't permanent. I could've understood if his fears centered around that, that his condition might be permanent. But he complained about being bored, feeling left out or forgetting what people looked like... For Christ's sake, I wanted to shake him and tell him to stop whining. Awful character. I won't be reading anymore in this series, that's for sure, and I' The main character was just too whiny. This short story is the prologue of another book so the characters are not very developed. It was an interesting scenario but frankly, I didn't care for the main protagonist, Cory Coltraine. It's clearly stated time and time again that his blindness is a temporary disability, but his state of depression and constant whininess are a little over the top in my opinion. I did like Iain, however. I'm not sure if I will read the rest of the series based on this story alone. This short story is the prologue of another book so the characters are not very developed. This free short story tells practically a snippet in Corey and Ian's life (the pop duo of 2ICE, appears in the novella "Beautiful Disaster"). Corey has an accident on stage that renders him temporarily blind. And he wonders what will happen if he can't remember anybody's faces ever again ... including Ian. I think it's for a very short story, it's still beautiful and sweet and tender. I love Corey and Ian so much and it's great to revisit their story, albeit a moment. This is a prequel to book 2, Beautiful Disaster, but should probably be read after the book. This is a prequel to book 2, Beautiful Disaster, but should probably be read after the book.

This was a quick story, soft and gentle, that was over way too fast. I really enjoyed these characters and would like more of them. Which it appears I can get since this seems to be a short prequel to Beautiful Disaster.

I would give this 3 1/2 to 4 stars. It was short and sweet. It left me wanting to read more. Ian's so kind and caring, looking after Corey. Great little prequel read.
