An entire volume of flashback. Don't expect any badass teen Thorfinn ninja missions in this one- he's still just a tyke.

Story: The story is very expected, I will say. For an historical adventure and this being a 10 years ago story for Thorfinn and why he's on his journey this story is very typical and nothing really special in terms of story beats. It's written really well with a very sure hand that's able to balance out the quiet tone with moments of levity with the villagers. There are instances when the fact that this is a manga comes through, especially with the fighting and the near superhuman powers of the main characters. However those moments are surrounded by a grounded and well written emotional story that plays on a well constructed world. This arc in particular, though very typical and cliched sets the readers to clearly understand Thorfinn's journey and motivation. Characters: Thor and Thorfinn are still very basic characters as are a lot of the characters. They fall in the archtypes of these types of stories and their arcs themselves are still very standard for this genre. Revenge and past sins and all that drama. But they are well written characters with solid dialog and the art really informs the characters. Well written. A good continuation of the first book and a clear statement of what Thorfinn's agenda is. Onward to the next book!

Irbis.

I like to know history and imagine that why this character could these action. Like a become that character. I prefer to read this book people who want to know view of the old sentries war. This manga could explained nice picture about weapons and how they fought. To sum up, there are many new character so it will difficult to understand the each character. However you can enjoy the story and you are going to get next book too.

I’m absolutely in love and even inspired to read up more on Norse mythology in general! The way Thors’ death was portrayed really hit me; and how Thorfinn clung to him as he cried and then immediately shouted out, filled with rage and lust for revenge and killing. It was absolutely devastating. I highly highly recommend this manga to anyone and everyone!

This volume contains chapters 5-16 and is all a flashback into Thorfinn's past when we sees his father, Thors, murdered. This explains his need for vengeance, although it still hasn't been explained why he is under his father's murderer's keeping. The artwork is better here than in the first volume. The story isn't hugely intriguing yet but interesting enough to keep me reading. ¡Nooooooooooooooo! ¡Thors!

The backstory of Thorfinn, I enjoyed it so much. The history of his father resided in Iceland and part of the great adventures to reach Vinland had been told, it dragged a bit in the middle, but Thors, his father is a true warrior, when he decided to sacrifice himself for his village and family. The art style is pretty fantastic, I must say... 3.5 stars!
