There is a ton of information in this book, and the majority of teachers will never need to use much of it. Still, it's important that all teachers, especially those in middle school and up, have at least a cursory knowledge of most of this information. My only real complaint about the content of the book is that the statistical information could have been presented in a more thorough and direct format. Other than that, the book is well-written, extremely informative, and serves as a great introduction to the concept of testing and what it does.

While the authors explain assessment techniques in an informal a conversational tone, the writing is a little too casual at times. Clear definitions and more precise language would benefit this book well before they explore the main concepts. That being said, the book is practically minded and the authors do a spectacular job of relating theory to application. Also, this edition (8th) has an outdated perspective on RTI. For a text that discusses statistics and educational testing, I found it to be very informative and user friendly. I am a hands on learner and was a bit nervous about full understanding the concepts in this text. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised at how well I understand and could apply the concepts in the text.
