I love the new book I received called The One Year Devotions for Preschoolers 2 by Carla Barnhill and Illustrated by Elena Kucharik (the artist for Care Bears!!). It has nice and short devotions with pretty pictures that attract little children to it. My kids thought it was great! They loved the pastel colors and the cute little children throughout the book. My 2 year old kept counting all the kids in the pictures and wanting to know if he was one of them! LOL. My 2 year old kept counting all the kids in the pictures and wanting to know if he was one of them! LOL. I like the prayers at the end of each day. They are nice and simple and easy for the kids to understand -- short enough for them to sit through, and interesting enough for them to ask questions about it! (I love books that bring out discussion with my little ones!) They've been dragging it around the house wanting to read it. Having my one One Year Bible previously, I was really appreciative of the break down of this book. The One Year Devotions is broken down into 3 parts. A short scripture verse, a small store and a summary of it. It is dated for each day of the year, which is nice because you don't have to stick a bookmark in to remember where you're at -- a good thing if little hands are picking it up and carrying it around the house! I think it's a great way to teach your children the value of prayer and scripture together. Books like this can help establish the habit of prayer and devotion even at an early age and help keep scripture hidden in their hearts. It is very Do-able with your preschoolers, which is important! Even my 6 year old enjoyed this book because it was short enough for her to read it on her own! I think it will make a great devotion for her to read. * Thanks to Tyndale House Publishers for providing me with a complimentary copy of this book.

Using the "Little Blessings" illustrations, different versions of scripture and short devotionals that an early reader to first grader can easily read and use for daily devotions, "The One Year Devotions for Preschoolers 2" promises to be a delightful way to start the mornings (or end the evenings) with that day's devotions and teach early beginners of His Word. In case you were wondering, the translations that are used in "One Year Devotions for Preschoolers 2" are the NIV, TLB, NLT,ICB,TSLB,NKJV, and the NRSV and the verses used makes a great resource for scripture memorization. The illustrations easily captures the children attention and the book is well-designed for little hands to hold on their own and explore. This makes for a delightful gift for Christmas or Easter if you are looking for a heart-warming, simple start to teaching your children to enjoy daily devotions and is sure to capture the youngest heart and help children develop a love to spending time learning about Scripture.

Several years ago I read through the first Devotions for Preschoolers and enjoyed it with my two daughters. A title and verse are followed by a short devotional thought and explanation that even a two year old can begin to grasp. The adorable illustrations will have your attention captured along with your child's as they bring to life the words on the page. At the bottom of each page is short sentence that sums it all up that you can use to remind your child through out the day of what they learned earlier. My preschooler, Micah who is 2 & 1/2 as I write this review, loves this book and begs me to read it to him. He doesn't want to stop with just one day...he wants more! It's a book that we love to snuggle up with and spend talking in child terms about Biblical things.

Bought this for my son to cap off the end of his first VBS experience. I love that it is set in the One Year layout of a short verse from scripture, a paragraph of real world situation and a rhyming prayer for each day. I had to flip through to find an appropriate one to explain forgiveness this morning too (Feb 18) because my 4 yr old said he didn't understand. So a good reference as well. Should be easy enough language for him to read on his own pretty soon. This is turning out to be a wonderfu Bought this for my son to cap off the end of his first VBS experience. My son is a new reader and can handle reading the title and Bible verse at the top and the prayer at the bottom. While these are short and sweet to end our bedtime stories, I think we may need to move onto something a little more engaging and challenging which has questions to discuss. Although he's only 5, I think that might interest him more and provide more opportunity for teaching.

This devotional is geared for parents to read to their small children. It gives them some idea of what people should act like, the things we should do for one another, and how we should strive to be good people. There is so many wonderful illustrations to keep the kids interested, but the impact of what you are teaching them from the book, is what matters. I would recommend a devotional such as this, to any and all parents of kids under 5 years.
