3,5 Well, IT'S THE AFRO MAN. Honestly, i always considered The Foxy arc the only filler arc that One Piece has. It's entertaining though, it's fun. And also, there is the afro. Unfortunately, this was the weakest installment for now, my goodness, it took me almost 2-3 days to finish this volume. This sets place in the Long long island (can't even bother to remember the name) and they had a davy back fight between Foxy pirates and Mugiwara pirates. There were some funny moments, especially the 2nd battle with Zoro and Sanji, but the rest was so boring. This small arc is the arc that I've hated the most. Ah, the worst arc in One Piece. Strangely, I still kinda enjoy it. Oda is once again falling into the whole of writing too much filler content in his canon manga. A sizable chunk of One Piece feels like filler. At this stage of the game Oda is way behind his competition. Other manga, by 33 volumes, have given us far more quality in a far shorter time. Naruto, Hunter x Hunter, DragonBall . . . all are heads and shoulders above what we currently sit at with One piece. It's not close. The man is a Ah, the worst arc in One Piece. Foxy Pirates arc. The absolute worst arc in one piece. Only the ending is important (and kind of unrelated to the foxy pirates). Necessary but horrible.

Davy Back Fight doesn't make sense. Not the activity but rather the mini-arc itself. I understand it as an interlude before the magnificent Water 7 and Ennies Lobby arcs. So probably Oda wanted a breather and just have a fun story. For the first time, it was fine. But during this re-read, I was completely bored and there were two moments that I enjoyed; Zoro telling Chopper to man up and then Luffy and his afro. So this was just ok. 4,5 Listen, I know this is a 'filler'. Yes it doesn't have as much tension as the previous arcs. But it's short. It's hilarious. And it has the crew all together. So I just love it. 4,5 Listen, I know this is a 'filler'. Yes it doesn't have as much tension as the previous arcs. But it's short. It's hilarious. And it has the crew all together. Foxy and his pirates were not really anything good, yet I enjoyed watching Zoro and Sanji cooperate for once.

A mediocre mini-arc with a very simplistic and annoying villain and no stakes at all, gosh, what a way to get back down to earth. Hoping for improvement in the next volume.

it was so fascinating reading all of the conflicte opinions about the Foxy Pirates arc! I personally love anything and everything One Piece-- I watch the fillers in the anime just so I can slow the pace of the story down because I don't want to finish so quick! Reading the manga is fast-paced as the small drawings don't hold your attention as long as moving visuals and sound do in my opinion. I've been making efforts to slow my manga reading down, taking the time to look at the detailed panels and admire the work Oda (and his assistants!) have put into it. Sure, the Davy Back Fight didn't have a big purpose with fulfilling the Straw Hat crew's dreams, or strengthening their will and power. But it offered a great comic break aftter the long-winded Skypiea arc, reminding us of how jolly the crew is, how Luffy is willing to sacrifice his own life for a crew member, and reminding us of how little we know about Robin. Does every arc need to have a greater, ultimate reason for being written? I don't think so! I'm content just enjoying the characters and their wild personalities as much as I can-- especially since I know they would never give up on their dreams, and arcs are temporary.

I really don't get why the Davy Back arc is getting so much hate because I enjoyed every bit of it!!! For me, it was rather a rewarding light and funny read after the dragging Skypiea adventure which I had a hard time getting through. Its Straw hats vs foxy pirates in some davy fight contest and its 3 rounds and nami, robin and usopp have too fight in some contest vs cutie wagon and its interesting, the other team is cheating but they are still fighting, and we learn about the devil fruit power of Foxy aka slow beams and though they are not able to win, they lose chopper and in the second round its zoro and sanji vs 3 giant fish type beings and its brutal and hilarious, and seems like they will lose but they win of a miraculo Its Straw hats vs foxy pirates in some davy fight contest and its 3 rounds and nami, robin and usopp have too fight in some contest vs cutie wagon and its interesting, the other team is cheating but they are still fighting, and we learn about the devil fruit power of Foxy aka slow beams and though they are not able to win, they lose chopper and in the second round its zoro and sanji vs 3 giant fish type beings and its brutal and hilarious, and seems like they will lose but they win of a miraculous thing and rescue chopper and that was awesome! These two teaming up is always nice to see and then its LUFFY VS FOXY in the latter's ship and Luffy with a afro is the best lmao, and the captain of the strawhats will give it his all! Amazing read and entertaining!

This is a rather odd interlude between big arcs - the Straw-hats are challenged to a Davy Back Fight where 3 games are played and the winning team gets to take a crew member. Of course, no honour among thieves so the Foxy pirates resort to cheating on an epic scale to try and win (though the Straw Hats are not much better!) Personally I’m too much of an empath so these kind of things end up riling me up with the injustice of it - I can’t say I enjoyed this volume much because of it! Volume 33 covers chapters 306 - 316, which is essentially the entirety of the Davy Back fight. I can't say that I was a big fan of this the first time I went through the story, as I was itching to get to the next arc and wondered why this was even necessary. But, upon reflection, I find this to be the perfect place to slow down the pace before the events of the next arc start getting into gear. One Piece #33: 3.25 Stars Look. It's not really this volumes fault that i took a 6 month break from my reread - that's all on me. But... this volume is... it's the foxy arc man. It's fine. Oof, this volume is rough. After the brilliant Skypiea arc we’re stuck in some lame filler. There’s nothing at stake here and there isn’t much exciting action either, though there’s some funny character interactions. There’s some pretty problematic parts towards the end as well. It looks like this arc will be over and done with in the next volume, thankfully.

I don’t really understand why people dislike the Foxy pirates arc so much , this was really fun to read, the determination of Luffy was really impressive here. And the best thing of all from this arc... AFRO LUFFY!

Davy Back Fight, a welcome distraction from some of the more serious plots that have been happening. The Davy Back Fight is MUCH shorter then in the anime, which goes on for 20 some episodes, but is only a volume in the manga. This makes it more enjoyable.

For me, One Piece is best Manga ever written. The story always touch my heart, it is a combination of faithful friendship, laughter, loyalty and action. Some people might find this manga as silly and pointless (I’ve heard this before) but they never truly read the Manga and therefore judging it simply from the cover. I’ve been in that position too…and thank God I finally looked beyond the cover and found the greatest adventure any Mangaka ever written. This was super great! Normally I just watch the animation as I thought the art was too tiny and confusing to read - I thought it should be a bigger format like Akira is. But I borrowed one from the library and I started reading it on the train home and it worked excellently to block out in a super cool way any uncool things happening around me (meaning, horribly boring and tedious journey). I was thoroughly entertained by the story and art the whole time and it also made me laugh. My Hero! I lov This was super great!
