Ah, now this is a breath of fresh air. Awesome all around. My man Aokiji is introduced here as well. Can't go wrong there. He has one of the best introductions in the series. simple, but memorable. Ah, now this is a breath of fresh air. Awesome all around. My man Aokiji is introduced here as well. Can't go wrong there. Alright, this is much better than the previous one, so right back on the awesome track. After the davy back fight that I loathed, it ended surprisingly touching and heart-warming with Luffy's confession towards his nakama. And they headed towards Water 7, another epic and great saga and something's huge and tragic is creeping in now! ahhh, and I like Iceburg, he's funny and did you know that he was modeled after George Clooney, ahah, fun fact there! The good: -The plot improved, even though I knew the outcome of the Davy back fight. -Nico Robin's mystery got more interesting. -The new characters from the shipyard. -The outcome of the going merry. The bad: -This is an introduction for the next chapter. -Nothing really happened in this issue, only a set of stage for the next long arc. Kaku another carpenter is the one we meet and then Paulie and all. Its fun and he has some wild encounters especially with the money, which was hilarious to read but then we have Luffy come face to face with the fact that his Ship cannot be repaired. Also some big threat from Franky Family maybe coming. This arc started well and sets up a lot of things and is like a set up for big things to come and the art and colors here are gorgeous to gaze at!

We meet that man in this volume; Admiral Aokiji. There are only three Admirals in the One Piece universe, Aokiji, Akainu, and Kizaru. We get more world-building with Aokiji mentioning Luffy's grandpa, seeing that Aokiji has a Logia-type Devil Fruit, and finally, both Luffy and Robin are no match for Aokiji. Logia-type fruits are going to become a challenge from here on out. Luffy got lucky with his fights against Crocodile and Eneru. We arrive at Water Seven, a city contracted by the World Government to build ships. The Strawhats get robbed by the Franky Family. Robin overhears someone mention CP9 and goes missing. Finally, as a parting shot, the Merry Go will never sail again. The keel is badly damaged.

Volume 34 covers chapters 317 to 327. This is truly epic storytelling, and you can already see the beginnings of a great arc in the Water 7 saga. The volume actually starts off with the ending of the Davy Back fight against Foxy and the introduction of admiral Aokiji and his powers. Something quite fearsome, no? After that, the Straw Hats finally make their way to Water 7, first stopping to meet Kokoro, Chimney, and the Puffing Tom, all important characters who make up this intricate story. Great manga This manga is perfect for unwinding. Oda has incredible stories that he shares in this piece of work. Water seven started well and I hope the rest of the volumes are as good.

Okay into the Water Seven Arc~ This will be the first arc I read where I haven't watched the anime beforehand (because I got bored at the Foxy extended filler). Aaaaaaand I'm already upset about Merry. Here we go! The best parts of One Piece starts now! And damn, it's a juicy one. Merry is trashed, Kuzan comes and kicks ass, Robin is framed and acts mysteriously, Luffy's grandpa is mentioned, Water 7 is introduced. Just great stuff overall! Here we go! This chapter explores the idea of betrayal and that the government can hide anything. Iceberg was betrayed by his closest colleagues because they worked for the government. They tried to kill him but failed because the straw hats saved him and then they proceeded to destroy a government QG.

For me, One Piece is best Manga ever written. The story always touch my heart, it is a combination of faithful friendship, laughter, loyalty and action. Some people might find this manga as silly and pointless (I’ve heard this before) but they never truly read the Manga and therefore judging it simply from the cover. I’ve been in that position too…and thank God I finally looked beyond the cover and found the greatest adventure any Mangaka ever written. Again, more notes, not so much review. Personal purposes, obviously. - Thank goodness for the end of the Davy Back Fight! I had to skip an entire volume just to avoid it entirely. But alas, can't avoid all of it unfortunately. That said, liked this volume for a number of reasons. - Admiral Aokiji's appearance. One of the most badass characters in the One Piece universe. Pun absolutely intended). - We get the introduction of Water Seven, which is a fantastic place in its own right. I love the introduction to the Galley-La, and while I was not a big fan of the group at the time, the Franky House. - Sadness to what happens to Usopp! That bit was pretty depressing.

A volume of setup and setting-building as the Straw Hats, hunting for a carpenter, find themselves in a fantasy version of Venice. As with the early chapters on Skypeia, Oda can trust in the pleasure created by his cast's bickering and bantering to see us through several exposition-heavy chapters. There's at least one gloriously daffy moment of invention, too. The strongest part of the volume, though, is the Robin-centric chapters - giving her a daunting new enemy and moving her own story along: A volume of setup and setting-building as the Straw Hats, hunting for a carpenter, find themselves in a fantasy version of Venice. 2.5 Not a bad vol. There were some parts that were dull, but ultimatley, future volumes look promising. I get the feeling that we will find out a lot more about Robin, considering her strong reactions to certain people. Will be interesting and sad no doubt. This vol was mostly setup and world building. OP does its world building quite nicely, though at times it can drag and become dull. Still, it is nice to see the crew exploring these new places. Really gives this series some sense of adventure. 2.5 Not a bad vol. There were some parts that were dull, but ultimatley, future volumes look promising.
