   Luego de habernos pasado todo Septiembre/Octubre haciendo bromas en referencia al título con mi pareja, prometí que iba a leer esta novela antes de fin de año para entender a qué apuntaba la misma. No me pueden negar que es un nombre curioso para un libro (aunque de RL Stine no me sorprende mucho, a decir verdad). Lo cierto es que el título cobra sentido recién al final del libro, a diferencia de los otros libros de Stine, y que esperaba otro tipo de historia. Lo cierto es que el título cobra sentido recién al final del libro, a diferencia de los otros libros de Stine, y que esperaba otro tipo de historia. Pero no me disgustó en lo absoluto, por lo contrario, yo creo que es ingeniosa, y sigue lo que yo denomino "la fórmula de RL Stine", la cual incluye la aparición de una hermana molesta, y un objeto ordinario y cotidiano que desencadena una situación bizarrísima, que se resuelve con la misma simpleza con la que se origina.

   Muy entretenido! Al es un chico que tiene una hermana muy inteligente y es la número uno de su clase. A diferencia de ella, él prefiere disfrutar de la vida al aire libre y sin preocupaciones. Sus padres, obsesionados con que su hijo sea igual que su hermana, le regalan en su cumpleaños un juego de química. Pero Al y su mejor amigo querran hacerle una broma creando una bomba fetida, pero el experimento no resulta como ellos imaginaban. Me divertí mucho con esta historia, se lee de una sentada y Muy entretenido! Al es un chico que tiene una hermana muy inteligente y es la número uno de su clase.    Like all of the Ghosts of Fear Street books, The Ooze is fairly basically written, with no real flair of style, but it stands out a little from the pack due to the very fun idea at the centre of its plot. Al and his friend accidentally create an ooze that makes anyone that it touches stupid – even animals. Of course, Al himself is dumbified by the ooze, along with several of his classmates, which leads to a fun scene involving a poorly-contested Science Bowl at his school. Young readers are sure Like all of the Ghosts of Fear Street books, The Ooze is fairly basically written, with no real flair of style, but it stands out a little from the pack due to the very fun idea at the centre of its plot. Al and his friend accidentally create an ooze that makes anyone that it touches stupid – even animals. Of course, Al himself is dumbified by the ooze, along with several of his classmates, which leads to a fun scene involving a poorly-contested Science Bowl at his school. Young readers are sure to enjoy the premise and the effect the ooze has on its victims, along with the secret to its defeat. Less enjoyable, however, was Roos's portrayal of Al's parents. They are completely focussed upon ensuring he lives up to his sister's academic example, to the point of ignoring his needs. A lot of times, such characterisation in books is offset by the eventual revelation that the parents are being seen through the child's biased eyes, but here the parents are truly awful and, I think, the true villains in The Ooze. Not fun to read about at all. Overall, though, this is definitely one of the better Fear Street books. The plot is original and enjoyable and there is a lot of humour to be found in Al's struggles with his loss of intelligence. One that young readers that should enjoy.
