The Magic School Bus chapter book- Penguin Puzzle is another adventure Ms. Frizzle takes her students on. They ended up in Antarctica to study the penguins. Phoebe's uncle had a secret formula made out of penguin oil. He was trying to keep people warm and dry without wearing heavy jackets. By accident, he spilled on the kids before it was ready to be used. This turned the kids into penguins. Will they turn back into kids again? This is a great informational book for young readers because it has a fictitious story line, but also provides the reader a great deal of information on penguins. It creates an enjoyable experience for learning. For readers that began with The Magic School Bus series picturebooks, these chapter books are a great introduction into lengthy books and informational text. The font is larger than a novel, making it easier to read. There are smaller illustrations every few pages. The informational text is highlighted in a bold rectangular box, or it shows the students writing on what looks like lined notebook paper. I give this book five out of five stars because it lets readers enjoy their fantasy books all the while they are also learning with the fun characters.

We just read this book at school before rest time and it turned out to be a more fun Magic School Bus book! My kids are really enjoying these books, which is great! This one was fun to read out loud because Uncle Cecil is from Australia, but my Australian accent isn't the best XD but I had fun with it! But so far out of the three Magic School Bus Chapter Books I've read, this one was my favorite! Interesting story about penguins, especially those in the Antarctic. Crazy field trip with the Frizz, as always, but entertaining and educational for our girls. We like the Magic School Bus chapter books and will look for more of them at our local library. Interesting story about penguins, especially those in the Antarctic.
