I walked into this book completely ready to devour whatever she was going to throw at me. I am a relatively new and avid juicer with a strong appreciation for the whole detox idea. The book was recommended by someone I deeply respect and admire. Even after reading reviews that indicated I'd be disappointed with the lack of citations, I thought, "Who cares? I like what she's saying and I will happily eat it up, citation free." And then I started the book. Plant-centric, raw, food, YES, absolutely. I like what she's saying and I will happily eat it up, citation free." And then I started the book. Plant-centric, raw, food, YES, absolutely. Good and simple recipes? Yes! The actual text? Did ya'll read this? For example, the part where she tells us that we are fooled into thinking we need things like calories or protein, but instead we ought take our nourishment from the sun as directly as possible by way of chlorophyll in green juices? I LOVE a green juice, but I also appreciate the role of protein in our diet. And calories. And realize humans can't digest chlorophyll. Interesting stuff on combining and digestion, but no attempt to explain to me why exactly combining is necessary. I didn't need a citation, just a breakdown of why it's effective (thankfully this is provided in Fit for Life, which does seem to back up most of her ideas). Then I googled Natalia herself. There's the Marie Claire "scandal" of a few years ago plus various quotes from her about helping celebs and other rich folks lose weight by taking them on multiple day food-free trips, where she first takes them to clothing shows with stick thin models to remind everyone of why they're doing this. I thought we were doing this to cleanse our bodies and take care of ourselves, not to look like models so thin I can't even wrap my head around them being perceived as healthy. A few other irksome things: the fish species she recommends are often those linked to high levels of mercury and/or ecological issues, NuNaturals Stevia STILL TASTES JUST LIKE STEVIA even though she promises not (don't waste the $15!), and this "plan" is absolutely infeasible for non-celeb/rich people by way of both complicated and expensive grocery lists and impractical food prep. I shop at Whole Foods because I'm a rich white person, so I had no problem tracking down raw goat cheese and NuNaturals, but we all know that's not how most of the world works, right? Also, the coconut noodle recipes prove that she doesn't actually prepare her own meals. To wrap up, I don't buy what she is selling. Natalia wants us to believe she supports an ultra healthy approach to food, but it is more than evident that she is concerned only with keeping her body fat at less than 5%. If you, like me, really care about cultivating a wholesome relationship with food, I suggest you go elsewhere.

Liked: It was a decent book that makes sense. Nothing too fancy, but I'm sure that was the point. Disliked: She says "raw goat cheese" too many times than I can bear. Not that I have something against "raw goat cheese", I'm sure some people live on "raw goat cheese". However, it kinda gets on my nerves when I read "raw goat cheese" on every other page. We get it, YOU LOVE RAW GOAT CHEESE! Liked: It was a decent book that makes sense. Nothing too fancy, but I'm sure that was the point. I am 5 days into this plan. I love this lifestyle right now. I read the Raw Food Detox Diet first, then this book. I am used to a strict diet because I just a came off of a bodybuilding contest prep plan. My biggest concern is how my body holds up without my Whey Protein now. Rose states that we should get adequate protein from the nutrition plan. As far as energy, I have plenty to accomplish my morning cardio and evening weights. I am not calculating my calories or macros anymore, which is why I think I can live happily with this type of plan long-term. If I had not been so strict prior to reading this book, I would have had a hard time implementing the plan. Since the plan in this book is for 4 weeks I will transition to the recommendations from the Raw Food Detox Diet book. Without the two books together, I would be a little lost as what to do after the month is over. The “next phase” could have been a bit clearer, in my opinion. Overall, I love Rose's principles about food. Get it in and out of the body. Keep things raw, for the most part. The very best part is the chocolate, which I love pre-workout. It is my new supplement!

This diet is similar to the Fit for Life approach to diet/eating: only fruit, fruit juices, veggie drink, water or green tea until 12 noon, and then well combined meals for lunch and dinner. well combined meaning basically no starches and proteins (flesh) eaten together. I am usually starving by noon, so I may need to add v8 to my mornings! The only thing I don't agree with is she says no soy. WTF? Screw that! So far I feel a little bit better(week 1) - I added 16 oz of decaf coffee to my mornin This diet is similar to the Fit for Life approach to diet/eating: only fruit, fruit juices, veggie drink, water or green tea until 12 noon, and then well combined meals for lunch and dinner. well combined meaning basically no starches and proteins (flesh) eaten together. There are a few recipes I want to try, like the veggie chips, this summer!

I have read Natalia's other books and this one is my favorite by far. Now if I can only work up the energy to go to the store and buy the sh**tload of produce required to do the plan... I get it. Sugar should be limited. But here I was, feeling so liberated, with my fruit, dates, raw honey, and BAM! In my face! I was not ready for this. I tried, but I could not limit my fruit and natural sugar consumption so drastically.. and still feel happy and free!! I really wanted to listen, Natalia, the yeast monster sounds really creepy, after all! But I was young and happy to be free at last. And I have to admit I feel a bit like that still.. And all the cheese.. not my thing. You are still my hero, and you need to share your truth. But can people really do this?

i was recommended this book by a friend as a treatment for my chronic IBS. she thought maybe it's a yeast problem in my guts. i am so frustrated with my digestive tract at this point that i thought a clean start might be a good idea. i was disappointed to see that this book reads more like a weight loss panacea - it will eliminate cellulite, give you radiant glowing skin, shed pounds, and so on - when i'm really more interested in taking care of my body than worrying about how inadequate it look i was recommended this book by a friend as a treatment for my chronic IBS. she thought maybe it's a yeast problem in my guts. i am so frustrated with my digestive tract at this point that i thought a clean start might be a good idea. i was disappointed to see that this book reads more like a weight loss panacea - it will eliminate cellulite, give you radiant glowing skin, shed pounds, and so on - when i'm really more interested in taking care of my body than worrying about how inadequate it looks compared to the unfair ideal she offers. i am a firm believer that every body is different, in looks and in composition, and this diet is not the one for me. by day 3 my IBS is worse than when i started and i'm running to the bathroom in a panic every 30 minutes. i'm obsessing over food like i never have before, given all the restrictions and limitations imposed in this system. i'm glad that it works for many people, but i am simply not among them.

Here is a horrible scam of a book to get you to buy a Breville Juicer and also make you think the most revolting imaginable salad is your ticket to being a size zero stick figure like the author. Natalia Rose is a lunatic and yet she has tons of money and lives in fancy land and we poor idiots are feeling fat and trying to eat cherry tomatoes covered in cinnamon and cloves. Guess what the name of this salad is? "Fountain of Flavor".

This book is great...IF you can keep up with it time wise, lifestyle-wise, etc. If you put the time into it...it's a GREAT program. I am applying most of what I learned, but don't know if how long I can keep up when I start going back full time at work. It does cost MONEY (i.e. the ingredients), TIME (time to juice, and prepare the food, etc), and EFFORT (which all goes back to will power). Although the book is based on good-ol' common sense, I like the ideas enough to go out and buy a juicer. I'm looking for ways to find more friendly VEGETABLES beyond my favorites. I'll let you all know after 30 days if following the directions Natalia Rose lays out gives me a High Pro Glow. I'm all for learning new ways to tantalize my taste buds sans food hangover! Although not quite ready to take the full-on plunge to the4-week detox the book lays out a transition to a more natural, clean and raw foods diet. I like the fact that Rose mixes in cooked and raw foods and the plan is sound and healthy, featuring lots of self-care habits and practices. Plus anytime you can have wine and dark chocolate as treats on a detox plan is good with me. ;-) Will be trying some of the recipes.

This is a bit too extreme for me, but I definitely found myself learning and holding on to ideas. If I hadn't already gone "clean" and "real," it would be way too much. But I'm glad I read it and would recommend it as an option for those who are interested. More info and education certainly can't hurt. part fact, part fiction. stevia and raw goat cheese in the amounts the author suggests cannot be healthy. some of the advice is interesting, but i wouldn't go whole hog with this plan. part fact, part fiction. stevia and raw goat cheese in the amounts the author suggests cannot be healthy. some of the advice is interesting, but i wouldn't go whole hog with this plan.
