AMAZING!!! I LOVED this book! Every day now I find myself going over the 9 Be's and saying to myself whether or not I'm truly applying them to myself. I have so many friends who have more than one copy and don't even bother to open it!!! It has helped he put my life into such a place of order - it's miraculous! Many questions I've had recently having to do with being a teenager I guess were answered simply and clearly. President Hinckley is very concise and to the point and I love it. I hate it when people beat around the bush. "Just get to the point!" But in this book you get plenty of straight forward points. It's a good book to read even if you are LDS, even if you aren't Christian! It's very easy to read as well. I read it in a day straight just because the book was understandable, clear and the language used wasn't only meant for philosophers - I felt like it was written for me and my growing mind :D Such a great book I recomend it to EVERYONE!

Very good outline on things we should work on. Even though it was published over 10 years ago, it still has lessons applicable to today.

    - I loved President Hinckley. He was an amazing man, and I will always remember when he first spoke about the Be Attitudes. I was a teen when he gave this talk, and I love how simple and straight forward his 9 Bs are. I think everyone, not just members of the LDS church, could benefit from living by these Bs. - I loved reading the personal stories and lessons from President Hinckley's life. I loved this book. Such great tips for how to be your best self and live a life you can be proud of. I know it was written for teenagers, but I think the tips in here can apply to anyone, of any age, that is trying to better themselves. I got teary in a few spots, and laughed out loud in several times, too! Gordon B. Hinckley's writing is strong, without overbearing, fun without being too light, and powerful in ways that make you want to try harder. I loved this book. This is a great little book by LDS President Gordon B. Hinckley. It is not simply geared towards those of LDS faith, but everyone in general. He gives advice for anyone, particularly youth or young adults on basic, common sense principles to follow in order to maintain a happy, successful, and productive life.

Definitely buying this book for my teenagers to read (but really I am still trying to implement this advice 😅) I have always looked up to President Hinkley’s example of optimism and humility.

Gordon B. Hinckley's 9 rules are powerful, simple, and, if lived authentically, will bring great happiness to anyone's life. My first semester as BYU undergrad, I had the privilege of hearing President Gordon B. Hinckley offer the timeless "6 B's" sermon. (Reprinted here: https://www.lds.org/ensign/2001/01/a-...) Partially due to the fact that I, generally speaking, have more time to ponder ideas when I can read them at my own pace. But, I particularly enjoyed reading President Hinckley's words because of his loving and inviting tone. As I considered his invitations, I believed his promise—that living these principles would bring me happiness. I think I was most persuaded to try them out, not because of the logic of his arguments, but because of the kindness I felt from his written voice.

A great quick read. Inspirational and uplifting. It's targeted to youth/young adults, but the advice in it is certainly applicable for all ages. I can't remember if I'd read this before when I was younger. Some of the stories shared were familiar as I've read some of President Hinckley's other works. A great quick read. I love this book. I especially love President Hinckley. I remember when he gave this talk. I was in college at the time, and his words were very influential to many of the big decisions I made. I was glad to have a chance to reread this and be reminded of those teachings.

Many years ago, a dear friend wrote me a letter and wrote to me about each Be and what it meant to them and about the things they wanted for me pertaining to these characteristics. It was one of the defining moments of my life and one of the greatest gifts I ever received. Reading this book now, many years later and for the first time, I love seeing the changes in my life that have come about as I have tried to be mindful of these behaviors and character traits and how they have shaped my life. This is one of the most compelling, relentlessly-positive books I have ever read and the compulsion of beseeching each and everyone of us to try a little harder to be a little better--to add more love to the world and make the world a better place for our having been in it, is one of the greatest arguments for good I have ever heard. I am a better person for having read this and now will strive to more completely emulate what has been laid out.

The former prophet is well-intentioned, yet this book comes across as an older man longing for a bygone culture. I like the chapter on forgetting yourself and getting to work. There is some good wisdom in his idea in that chapter. He follows this type of wisdom with advice for females to only wear one pair of earrings. He thinks it looks more beautiful this way. The problem with this advice is quite obvious, why should an old man define beauty standards for young people. The problem with this advice is quite obvious, why should an old man define beauty standards for young people. Why not no earrings, why not two pairs? I bring up these examples in that it is all too common for influential people to mix a message of wisdom (principles that guide your thinking about how to act) with a message of rules (actions that are binarily good or bad). And maybe he doesn't see the difference between these things.

I absolutely am in LOVE with this book! Way to Be is written by Gordon B. Hinckley, the last prophet the Church of Latter Day Saints had. Gordon B. Hinckley, the last prophet the Church of Latter Day Saints had. Gordon B. Hinckley wrote these "9 Rules For Living the Good Life" to help inspire others to change the way they live to be happier and a more productive life. Gordon B. Hinckley wrote this book to help teenagers, or basically all ages, to become more. He made up something called the 9 Be's: Be Grateful, Be Smart, Be Involved, Be Clean, Be True, Be Positive, Be Humble, Be Still, and Be Prayerful. My favorite "Be's" he talked about were being grateful and positive. Be Grateful taught me that I need to recognize more of what I have been given and what I have. Be Positive taught me that there are people that have it worse than me, so I need to be happier and spread the happiness to others. Be Smart talked about how our world is becoming so much more competitive when it comes to getting a job and getting the right education. The world now requires that you get this much education and this much work experience to almost even be capable to compare to other workers. He taught that if we be smart in our choices and our educational plan that the outcome will end up better. Be Involved taught that we all need to be more there in different situations that we get put in. We need to be more involved when it comes to our family, friends, school, church. Everything. When we are involved it makes relationships easier. Be Clean wasn't necessarily about keeping your physical, outward body clean, but to have a more clean spirit and mind. Although he did mention that it is important to keep ourselves physically clean, that is not what he was trying to get across. He talked about how we need to keep our thoughts clean and wholesome because our thoughts turn into our actions. I also really liked Be True. It taught that we need to be true to ourselves and to others. We don't gain anything by lying. He shared a story of how he once ditched school with his friends, and didn't let his mom know. The next day when he had to arrive to school, he had to take a note from his mom. His mom was not happy, and the note did not help bail him out of the lie he committed the day before. His mom simply stated that his actions were on impulse of what the crowd was doing. President Hinckley was not proud because he knew that that wasn't what he knew to be right, and he didn't stay true to his values. I think this book is all around a good book for anyone that needs a little push to keep them going. This book to me was a good motivational boost, and I think it will be to others too. “Way to Be!,” By Gordon B. HInckley’ is a great book on “9 ways to be happy and make something of your life” This book is about what you can do in life to become happier and maybe even more productive. There are 9 things that you can do and they are be grateful, be smart, be involved, be clean, be true, be positive, be humble, be still, and be prayerful. In each of these it shows how by doing these things people will look at you different they have a more positive outlook on you. In Way to Be! “Way to Be!,” By Gordon B. Hinckley tells about his stories from when he was younger since he was 90+ and gives advice to us teenagers. I really like this book. I like the stories that this deceased prophet wrote in this book my favorite story he told is about him and his friend when they were kids they saw a poor man working out in the field and he had left his shoes. His friend said lets steal the shoes then let’s see his reaction when he gets back. President hinckley says no let’s do something else instead let’s put a silver dollar in each shoe and then see his reaction when he comes back so they did that they hid and the man came back started to put on one shoe and felt something hard in it some he pulled it out and there was a silver dollar so put it in his pocket put on the other shoe and low and behold there was another silver dollar he put the dollar in his pocket put other shoe on and prayed and thanked heavenly father for kindness of a stranger because him and his family were struggling and need the money. Once the man left, the two young boys came out of hiding and Gordon B. Hinckley said that he will never forget that day of how he helped that poor man. It is kind of hard to place down a theme for this book because he tells many stories throughout the book. But, I feel like the theme of the story is be positive and kind. Because just like that story with silver dollars he really helped that poor man.

There is not much I can say about Way to Be! as it is the kind of book that leaves me without words. I find it both amusing and humbling to have read so many descriptions and reviews of evil things of the world and found within them that the reviewers were left "speechless" or "breathless." I find it both amusing and humbling to have read so many descriptions and reviews of evil things of the world and found within them that the reviewers were left "speechless" or "breathless." I have always been able to speak about the evil things I have experienced within media of all kinds. I pray that I not be seen as a hypocrite for saying this, but as a human race, as the children of the most high God, are we not more beautiful than the world? In my life I have without exception been left with things to say about that which the world labels "breathtaking", but that which is pure and brings me closer to my Father in Heaven, that is what leaves me speechless. We, the human race, are more beautiful than the sin and evil that surrounds us. Prophet Hinckley testifies of this and shows us through humble simplicity what we can and must do to own up to that standard of beauty and holiness. So, when I admonish, I admonish all of us, as a whole, and myself included. We can always do better than what we are doing, and we can always look back on the work that we, and others, have done, and we can always find the good in those works that were pure and brought forth fruits of happiness and spirits of gratitude. I can say no more, as Prophet Hinckley has said it all. He has more wisdom than I, and I don't say this to undermine myself, I simply haven't got to his level yet. Excellent book, I am so very grateful for my Beloved suggesting for me to read it, and I would definitely rate it among one of the best books I've ever read.
