Perfect little chapter book for the younger child who likes the Little House on the Prairie series. Caroline is an adaption written by Maria Wilkes and is taken from Laura Ingles Wilder’s books and other historical documents of the time. Caroline was the mother of Laura Ingles Wilder. Maria Wilkes was an author but no relation to the Ingles/wilder families.

So there seem to be several franchises of the Little House books. The first I noticed was a series about Laura Ingalls Wilder's daughter Rose. Then I realized that there were books based on the lives of Laura's mother (Caroline) and Laura's grandmother and (I think) Laura's great-grandmother. Now I see there are "chapter books," books for beginning readers, based on all of these other books. Someone had a good idea for expanding the Little House moneymaking ability! This particular book is a "chapter book" based on the book(s) about the early life of Laura's Ma, Caroline. I enjoyed this one. It was a quick and easy read. I would read it with/to a beginning reader, if I hung out with such a person. I am particularly pleased that the author of this book was able to emulate the style and quality of the writing of the original Little House books.

This is a nice beginning chapter book for merging readers. It is almost word for word of the bigger Book 1 of Little House Caroline Years. Except those have more chapters and more things going on. But this chapter book is perfect as you don't loose any of the getting to know the charactors or what they are enduring. I really love these books and am so glad these were made 'cause now you don't have to wait until your child is old enough to be able to pay attention to the longer more complex chapt This is a nice beginning chapter book for merging readers. I love this series of books. I discovered them when I was looking for something for my daughter to read. We love the Little House on the Prairie books and this just continues the same feel and great stories of Laura Ingalls.

I like it (by my 6 yr old daughter) These are enjoyable dramas, with a sweet twist. It's a great choice for the advance, younger reader. I like it (by my 6 yr old daughter) These are enjoyable dramas, with a sweet twist. It's a great choice for the advance, younger reader.
