   This one's a very academic text that feels like a printer-warm, just-defended MA thesis. But this is a matter of the writing, not the subject. Ethiopia was really the only indigenous African country to resist European imperialism (until Mussolini in the 1930s) and its rulers were powerful individuals surrounded by at least as much court intrigue as their counterparts in Europe.
