Detailed descriptions, entangled relationships, a secret and a well plotted mystery make this another great story in the Gianna Mancini Mystery series.

Giana Mancini has been pretty successful avoiding her former BFF Hilary Burton, now wife of Detective Kevin Burton who is another bane of her existence, but when she’s cornered in the lunch line, “Are you ever going to forgive me for high school?” Gianna’s manner is brusque and definite, “Nope.” But, things, of course, change. After a long, boring day as an assistant at Julian’s budding private investigator firm, her night was restless. She wakes to find Hilary floating in the corner of her room…Nooo! Gianna had a childhood near-death experience that resulted in her ability to see and hear “dead guys” and a few dead gals, so she realizes immediately that somewhere Hilary’s body is waiting to be found. Despite the lateness of the hour and her decade shunning her former BFF, she struggled whether she sound discover what she knew would be a dead body. She headed over to Hilary’s apartment finding the door unlocked, the apartment sparse of personal touches, and Hilary’s body on the kitchen floor. Even with these new circumstances and her history helping wayward ghosts, Gianna is adamant about not helping her. Nevertheless, her sister reminds her of her “ghostly duties,” and her mother scolds her for her attitude. So what is a “ghost whisperer” to do? Well, first, keep an eye out for trouble. Jennifer Fischetto adds an exciting adventure to her Giana Mancini Mystery series with a creative premise, clever mystery, lots of good, bad, and ugly emotions, and more than one non-corporeal nuisance. Although her style includes using present tense, not often used by authors, her descriptions, banter between characters, humor and wit, and compelling issues of betrayal, forgiveness, and family make it a page-turner. The ghost element is well done with the added suspense of not knowing when they’ll show up, but even when Hilary does, her details and finger pointing are in contrast to her husband’s. This makes it difficult, and engaging, to know who is telling “the whole truth and nothing but the truth.” Gianna is so determined to keep her ability private, choosing when and where to use it, but she’s also confronted with the grander picture by more than one person. Beyond the murder mystery with Gianna more of interest with police than she’d like, Fischetto adds a haunting, a pregnant sister, romance woes, and an image of a supportive, if not quirky, family. Will Gianna find some healing now her former best friend has passed away? Is the relationship between her and Julian destined to stay locked in neutral? Will she ever be able to embrace her affliction as more of a gift? Check out this fifth book to find out, but don’t forget the entire series. Thank you to Gemma Halliday Publishing for the review copy of this book. Diamonds, Pies, and Dead Guys by Jennifer Fischetto is a very fun cozy mystery and a nice addition to the Gianna Mancini Mystery Series. In this installment, Gianna is visited by the ghost of her ex-best friend, turned frenemy, who happens to be married to Gianna’s cop nemesis Kevin. As much as she tries to stay out of it, Gianna inserts herself into solving the murder, but someone is determined to stop her. Gianna Mancini is a ghost whisperer. The ghost wife of Gianna's high school enemy, a detective no less, keeps appearing asking to help solve her murder. That is the last thing Gianna wants to do but the ghost cannot rest until her murder is solved. I love reading about all the delicious deli foods. Who doesn't love deli food?? I love the tightness of Gianna's family and how she is trying to figure out her romantic and working relationship with her boyfriend. Diamonds, Pies & Dead Guys, the 5th book in Jennifer Fishetto's Gianna Mancini Mysteries series captured me from the beginning and held me through the very last line. Julian is having trouble dealing with several things in their romantic relationship and Kevin's all too frequent presence isn't helping the situation.

Once again Gianna Mancini is in the middle of a murder, this time it's a former best friend turned frenemy who dies, and appears in Gianna's living room. This book was so much fun to read. Although murder is tragic, you have to love Gianna and her methods of finding the truth. She is a devoted daughter and sister, and really good friend when she realizes that sometimes you have to let go of the past! She's funny, especially thanks to some of her internal dialogs. Of course I think she gets some crazy from her mother!!! There were many new and old characters mingled to make an eclectic assortment of possible suspects. But honestly, I didn't figure out the end until about the time Gianna did. Now that's a mark of an excellent mystery writer, and Jennifer Fischetto is deserving of that title. You won't want to miss this exciting book which I think might be the best in the series!

Number 5 in this series, Gianna is now working as secretary at the PI firm of her sort-of boyfriend Julian. She runs into Detective Kevin Burton, and subsequently his wife and her ex-bestfriend, Hilary, while picking up lunch. That night Hilary’s ghost appears and wants Gianna to find her murderer! So, does she decide to help Hilary, who betrayed her in High School, or does she ignore her? Another interesting addition to this series, Gianna winds up having to help the ghost of her ex-best friend, who was murdered. What a fun cozy mystery! I love Gianna Mancini and the cast of characters here. Gianna has the ability to communicate with the recently deceased. Now that her "frenemy" has been murdered, she becomes involved in a case that reintroduces people she knew all the way back in high school. She can't help but get involved which places her in danger. She must figure out which ones of her friends and former acquaintances are innocent and who is guilty. This is a very entertaining read, I am glad I disco What a fun cozy mystery!
