Nervous to be on a plane, she finds herself seated next to a detective named Kyle. Over halfway through the flight, it is evident that there are hijackers on board. They kill both of the pilots. The plane falls off radar, and there are some casualties...including some flight attendants. Cora is the daughter of a pilot, and also a nurse. Given that she is the best chance they have to safely land the plane after their first choice is incapacitated , she ends up in the pilot’s seat. Can she safely save the rest of the living souls on board? This is a fast-paced thriller that flies with breakneck speed and rarely provides a chance to breathe between action-packed scenarios. I was hooked from the first page to the last, and managed to read this in a few hours. It’s gripping and always entertaining, and would make one helluva motion picture. While I couldn’t put it down, I felt it lacked character development. Yes, I wanted all the “good” guys to be safe, but I didn’t feel any kind of emotional punch for them. On top of that, there is a hint of romance that evolves between two characters that seemed REALLY out of place given everything else going on. I just couldn’t buy into that...or the corny moments that were sprinkled in when tension was so high. There were also FBI agents and attorneys who threatened people with the worst, only to be wholly wrong. I definitely had to suspend some disbelief near the conclusion. BUT...was I entertained? Absolutely! Did I whip through this at lightning speed? Absolutely! Was I ever bored? Absolutely not! I enjoyed this flight for what it was...and that’s blockbuster entertainment. Thank you to Rainier Publishing and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. The expected arrival date is 6/22/21...as long as there is no turbulence. SO COMPULSIVE I read it in one sitting! I am sure the airline industry is THRILLED that just when it’s customers are returning to the skies, we have not ONE but THREE flights getting hijacked this SUMMER! So, which one should you book a seat on? Well, I have read TWO out of the THREE, so far, and BOTH flights have been worth reading about! Action packed-but different enough from one another that you couldn’t possibly grow bored! Pacific Air flight 385, a 737 from Seattle to Honolulu with 143 souls onboard has been hijacked. Six people are dead including the pilots, and several flight attendants, the flight has no WI-FI, and the motive for the hi jacking remains a mystery. When the only other person onboard, with flying experience becomes incapacitated, the passengers have to rely on a Pilot’s daughter, who has had some flying lessons, and a Seattle Homicide detective to save their lives. And, they have veered so off course, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, that they cannot even be located on radar! This thriller is FAST paced, and meticulously researched. Author Audrey Cole, an RN and writer of six crime thrillers set in Seattle, gets the details of flying, and Inflight cabin procedures MOSTLY right, with just a few tweaks used to propel the plot forward and as a 25+ year flight attendant, myself...I know. You may want to locate your life vest, and pay attention to your flight attendant’s safety briefing the next time you fly! 👩🏻‍✈️ You know, just in case! Available NOW! Thank You for the gifted ARC provided through NetGalley …it was my pleasure to provide a candid review!

There are a few different narratives going on and it really added layers to the overall story (more than just action). 3.5 stars: a good read! Airline disasters/hijackings are having a moment this summer and this one is a thriller with a side of romance. Mid-way to Honolulu a flight is hijacked. Given the title, it’s no secret how this will end and what will be required of one of the passengers, the pilot’s daughter. Fast-paced and full of intrigue and action this is a prime example of a popcorn thriller. The reader doesn’t know who to trust or how all the backstories will come into play until the final thrilling chapters. Sure, some things are unlikely to happen, but you don’t read this type of book looking for realism. My other quibble was the romance that developed on the plane in the midst of the crisis. But if you’re looking for a thriller-light to devour at the beach or poolside, this would fit the bill nicely. * I received a copy via NetGalley. I haven't been on an airplane in two years, and now when I'm planning to go somewhere, I had to read this turbulent tale of hijacking, murder, and mayhem? What was I thinking? Pacific Air Flight 385 takes off from Seattle to Hawaii with 143 souls on board who have no idea what is about to occur. Well, the three hijackers know. Make sure you are wearing your seatbelt because you will get whiplash from this fast-paced, action-packed thriller. It's a fast read that will make your head spin. From multiple viewpoints, this story is told from Cora, a young widow flying for the first time to honor her late husband's philanthropic work, to Kyle a capable homicide detective going to Hawaii to catch a culprit. The female airline cleaner risks everything to save her family in Somali and Mila, the flight attendant with flying skills who may have ties to the hijackers. And the spoiled billionaire's girlfriend, pregnant and flying to Hawaii, is she why the plane is being hijacked, or is it her boyfriend, the narcissistic billionaire who cares more about his company than anything else? These people all have interesting stories to tell, and I wish the book had been a little longer to learn more about them. As soon as the hijacking ensues, a lot of shooting occurs on the plane resulting in the pilots' and the hijackers' deaths. Cora is a nurse, so she busies herself helping wounded passengers, and then they need someone to land the plane. It turns out her father was a pilot, and she also had some flight training, so off to the cockpit she goes. She is a handy girl to have around! Have your life vest ready because you are going to need it! I initially thought I would give this book three stars, but because I couldn't put it down and because of the non-stop edge-of-your-seat action, especially towards the end, I gave it four stars. This flight was indeed a thrilling trip! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read it in exchange for an honest review. Be sure to book your seat on June 22, 2021.

The Pilot's Daughter is yet another thriller set at 35,000 feet and is every bit as exciting and nail-biting as Falling (T. J Newman) and Hostage (Claire Mackintosh). Pacific Flight 385 has recently left the tarmac at Seattle airport in Washington heading to Honolulu, Hawaii but little do the 154 people aboard the express 737 service know, but a member of the cleaning crew - Asha Farar - has been forced to partake in the terrorist’s plans as they have her family held hostage back in Somalia and The Pilot's Daughter is yet another thriller set at 35,000 feet and is every bit as exciting and nail-biting as Falling (T. J Newman) and Hostage (Claire Mackintosh). Pacific Flight 385 has recently left the tarmac at Seattle airport in Washington heading to Honolulu, Hawaii but little do the 154 people aboard the express 737 service know, but a member of the cleaning crew - Asha Farar - has been forced to partake in the terrorist’s plans as they have her family held hostage back in Somalia and are threatening to kill them. In the video showing her family held at gunpoint in the small Somali village in which she grew up, Islamic militant group Al-Shabaab present her with an address in Seattle she must attend to pick up a package; it is to be placed on the plane in the compartment holding the automated external defibrillator and to show her they're deadly serious they shoot her uncle dead there and then. Terrified, she retrieves the pistol from the warehouse and hides it onboard. Back on the plane, it's halfway through the flight, which has gone relatively smoothly until now. It becomes evident that there are several hijackers onboard when they shoot dead both of the pilots, flight attendants and passengers. Six people are slain in cold blood and no one has any idea what the motive is for the hijacking. Those who are in charge and still alive believe there to be more terrorists posing as passengers on the flight to ensure their plan succeeds. So knowing who to trust is a major problem and going off your gut is hardly the best idea when so many lives are at stake. The plane falls off the radar, there's no wi-fi and the bodies are piling up. First-class flight attendant, Mila Morina, who is an ex-military helicopter pilot, takes over the controls until she is grazed by a bullet. Cora is a recently widowed nurse and the daughter of a commercial pilot who is on her way to Samoa via Hawaii to receive a commendation awarded to her late husband for his humanitarian work during a devastating cyclone. She has flown via flight simulator numerous time although that is quite different to being in control of the real thing. Seated next to her is Kyle Adams, a Seattle Homicide detective on his way to apprehend a suspect. Can Cora, ably assisted by Kyle, land the plane safely and incapacitate any remaining threats onboard? This is a riveting, compulsive and exhilarating thriller full of action and extreme tension. From the get-go, you are plunged into the deep end and the high-octane, adrenaline-pumping game of cat and mouse the terrorists are playing. It felt incredibly real and the authenticity of flight procedures comes from Cole’s father being a retired Alaskan Airlines pilot. The suspenseful thrills, explosive twists and terrifying plot have you on edge the whole way through and guessing what was about to happen was futile as I simply couldn't guess correctly to save my life. Highly recommended.

The Pilot's Daughter by Audrey J. Cole is an adrenaline-fuelled rush from start to finish, and I devoured it in a single session. Clear a few uninterrupted hours, you will not want to stop once you board this flight. Flight 385 is departing Seattle with nonstop service to Honolulu. Onboard are the usual mixed bag of passengers, including Cora, a single mother since her husband was killed in a helicopter crash, and Alana, the pregnant girlfriend of a major player in the pharmaceutical industry. The Pilot's Daughter is told from multiple points of view and is told aboard Pacific Air Flight 385 nonstop from Seattle to Honolulu. Once the passengers board the plane it is hijacked and this is where the action begins and it never lets up until the last page is read. Among the passengers on board flight 385 are Kyle, Cora, Mila, and Alana. There are one hundred and forty-somethings souls on board Flight 385 altogether. We get to see The Pilot's Daughter through the eyes of some of the characters. Detective Kyle Adams is on his way to Honolulu to find and arrest a criminal. Cora is a nurse and a mother of two. Cora almost didn’t board the plane as she was afraid of flying after her husband died in a helicopter crash. Asha, a mother of two little girls receives a call from a man who has taken her family in Somalia hostage with a video of her father, mother, brother, aunt, uncle, and cousins. Asha is given instructions on picking up a package and where to take it. If she does not comply with their orders then they will kill her family and prove that they do just that they shoot her uncle on the video. Eddie Clark also receives a call with a picture of his girl on board Flight 385 with instructions that he must follow or his girlfriend Alana will be killed. When the hijackers try to take over the plane Kyle reacts quickly stopping the hijacks in their tracks. Lives are lost after the bullets start flying. Among the dead are the pilot and co-pilot leaving the plane with no one to land it or fly it. Hopefully, there is a pilot or at least someone that knows how to fly a plane among the passengers or they are all could potentially be doomed. Kyle and Cora work together to try and figure out why someone wanted to hijack the plane and why. With a lot of answered questions and to be on the safe side they assume that there may be other hijackers on board and now everyone is a suspect. Kyle and Cora must work fast and quickly and stay on alert just in case there is another hijacker. The Pilot's Daughter was so intense and I felt for each and every character as their story played out. I felt so bad for Asha as I was reading her part in the hijacking as her story brought tears to my eyes. I cried because I could tell she didn’t want to do what she was instructed to do but felt she had no choice. I think The Pilot's Daughter is one of the best books I have read this year by far. I am still trying to process everything that happened aboard Flight 385. Audrey J. Cole is one amazing storyteller. Her stories make you feel as if you are a part of the story itself. She knows how to make the words on the page talk to you. She makes the story come alive right before your eyes. And you feel what the characters are feeling. You want to jump right in and help them. I would love to see The Pilot's Daughter made into a movie as I think it would be a box-office hit. I would like to recommend that you grab your copy of The Pilot's Daughter to begin reading this number one hit today!

They demand that she picks up a package at a disclosed location and plant it on an airplane at her workplace. Desperate to save the rest of her family, she goes through with the demands of the terrorists. Cora, also a mother 2 is on her way to Hawaii- honolulu to honor her deceased husband’s work. Her husband died in a helicopter crash. On the way to the airport, Cora feels anxious about getting on a plane given what happened to her late husband, she feels bad about leaving her kids at home but also feels that her late husband deserves to be honored for all the good work he did while alive. Kyle is a homicide detective in Seattle also on the flight to Hawaii. He is on a mission to apprehend a criminal on the run. Eddie is a billionaire, pharmaceutical, business mogul who acquired his wealth through theft and fraud. His girlfriend, Alana is also on the flight to Hawaii. She is going to visit her sister who was just given birth to her niece. Right of the bat it is survival of the fittest as the flight to Hawaii is hijacked. The passengers and flight attendants must fight for their lives when the plane is hijacked and later sinks in the Pacific Ocean. It is up to Cora and detective Kyle to figure out what caused the hijacking and who the hijackers are. Everyone is a suspect. I thoroughly enjoyed this read. The book is gripping right from the start. I opened the book and next thing I knew I was done. I just couldn’t put it down. The characters were well developed, and they all fit really well with the story. There was no character I felt was out of place. The man who sat behind Alana on the plane was very annoying, I found myself wanting to strangle him but he too was not out of place. In a group of more than 5 people there is bound to be one person who is annoying and cynical, now imagine on a place with +- 100 passengers. I was also very impressed by how well researched the book was. Points of reference: Pg. 52- Author explained why Detective Kyle was working alone. Homicide detectives always work in pairs. Throughout the book the author explained technical terms or pilot terms like the controls and what they were used for which made it easy to imagine the plane and Cora pulling the controls. The author made it easy for me to put myself in that situation, fighting to get back home to my family. One thing I took away from the book is to always trust my gut feeling- I feel like if Cora had listened to her gut, then she wouldn’t have found herself in that situation but then again without her, all those people would have died so I’m a little conflicted there. I also could not -of the life of me- understand why Barry’s wife wouldn’t leave his side but then again, I am not married. I suppose I don’t know what it’s like to be married to someone for so long and then have to lose them like that. To imagine life without them and to feel that you’d rather die with them than live without them. Honestly, I don’t know if that was beautiful or sad. I get that they were both old but come on, surely there was something more to live for. Now let’s talk about Eddie - what a piece of crap! I honestly think he got off easy. He deserved for the whole world to know what he’d done; Mila didn’t deserve to die a terrorist. I felt the world deserved to at least know her side of the story. I also felt that hijacking the plane was abit extreme, surely there were other opportunities to grab Alana? Hijacking an entire plane just didn’t seem to me to be the best possible way to get revenge. Especially after 9/11, one would think getting weapons onto a plane wouldn’t have been that easy, but it worked perfectly with the book and the story as It kept me on my feet. I kept waiting for plot twists. And Asha, oh my word! If one could slap a character in a book she would be my first target. Ikept wanting to scream “ Tell someone”, “ go to the cops”… when she got home and found her husband in bed ,I swear I screamed “please tell your husband’’, ‘’say something’’. I understand she was shocked but what’s the point of having a partner, a significant other if you cant speak to them in times of need? There was absolutely no reason to have to deal with that alone. I’m glad she won the trial but at what cost? This was such a great read. It came at a time when I was in a really terrible reading slump and it is just what I needed to pull myself out.

Fast paced with interesting main characters and hijackers with guns on a plane rapidly nose-diving, this was one thrilling ride.

This is a mystery thriller with a huge dose of romance and several unlikely outcomes. Cora's skills as a nurse are much in demand until a larger need ensues: she's going to have to land the plane. I love a good disaster scenario as long as everything is realistic, and this strained my credulity at various times. I'd also recently read another book in a similar vein, and have to ask -- how likely is it that people who work for the airlines would actually aid and abet terrorists or hijackers -- no matter what the threat? I don't know, but it's pretty scary to contemplate. Many of the details of the "talk through" emergency landing protocol seemed accurate, but I know nothing about flying an airplane. The narrative moved fast and the only jarring notes where when another character in the book took the lead voice. I thought that both Cora and Kyle were not well-developed characters and I never really connected with either. Their instant romance totally put me off as well. Nevertheless, this allowed me to pass a couple of entertaining hours but the conclusion was a bit lame. Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this e-book ARC to read and review.

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. This was a quick and exciting read, with chapters from the perspectives of a variety of characters, including detective Kyle and nurse Cora (the pilot's daughter) who are both passengers on the hijacked plane, the airport employee responsible for placing a gun on board, the President of the US and her advisors, and also the wealthy boyfriend of one of the passengers. The details about how to fly a plane were really interesting, and the different perspectives kept the story moving without becoming confusing. There were a few little things which seemed unlikely to me (would the US really carry out the sort of mission in Somalia described here, for example?), but my main quibble was the romance, which seemed very accelerated and also surely the last thing that would be on your mind in the perilous situation described. Recommended otherwise though.

This is another engaging novel from Cole. The plot reflects every airline passenger's nightmare, terrorists taking over the plane. Hold on to your seat when you read this novel as the suspense is intense. It was clever how Cole got pistols on the plane. I trust the method, while happening in the novel, really isn't possible. A woman was willing to cause the death of many to carry out her vengeful hatred toward one person. I liked Cora as our heroine. She is a good example of overcoming fear to do what is necessary. I liked Kyle being on board, playing the hero. While we have met him in previous novels in this series, it was interesting to see him in a situation other than his occupation as a police detective. A romance develops between the two. While it may seem to have gone really quickly, romantic feelings can blossom when people are in intense situations. While this novel is part of a series it reads really well on its own. The narrative alternates character points of view and that did seem to disrupt the flow of the plot. Other than that, an entertaining novel. Just don't take it with you on your next flight. I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

The story begins with Asha, a member of the cleaning crew for the airlines, receiving a threat against her extended family in Somalia. She is to go to a designated place pick up a package and hide it on Flight #385 as directed. Rarely does anyone do what they should do by calling the police and or the FBI. So she does as she is told although things don't go smoothly but she manages to get what she now knows as a gun on the jet. Next up is Cora, a nurse on the flight and also a pilot's daughter, who will have to step up and save the people on board from the terrorists. She will befriend Kyle a Detective on the flight and together they will have to decide who they can trust to help them land safely. This book has many twists and is thoroughly a thrill a minute as these passengers face adversity. After reading this, I learned a little bit more about flying and am glad that I book my seat closer to the front than the back. I received an advance copy from NetGalley for an unbiased review.

While I enjoyed both of the aforementioned thrillers, I have to say that I liked this one the best. Believe me, I am surprised, too, that the one will zero hype is the one that is actually the best-written. The plot of the story revolves around several characters who become entangled in a terrorist plot on an airplane bound for Honolulu. The main character is Cora, a nurse on the flight who has to be brave and save the people on board from the terrorists. One highlight of this book is the twists. It's basically what made this thriller stand from its more well-known counterparts. Whereas I thought the twists in Hostage and Falling were nonexistent or not very surprising, I was blindsided during some moments in the Pilot's Daughter. Here is an exciting excerpt from Chapter 1 that sets up the plot: "He backed away from the camera and held up a paper with a Seattle address. “You will go to this address tonight and pick up a package. Tomorrow, you will put the contents of that package in the AED on board Pacific Air flight 385.” The video turned back to her relatives begging for their lives.... The terrorist pressed his rifle into her chest and screamed at her in Somali to shut up. The video swung back to the man holding the address. “Do this, and no one else in your family has to die.”" Overall, The Pilot's Daughter is an amazing airplane-based thriller that will appeal to fans of Hostage and Falling. If those are on your TBR list already, just add this one and thank me later. Or better yet, take those off of your list and just read this one. I am giving this book 5 stars because I was genuinely surprised by this thriller, and it was just one step above the other thrillers I've read lately. If you're intrigued by the excerpt above, or if you're a fan of thrillers, you won't regret checking out this book when it comes out in June!

"The Count of Monte Cristo. Yeah, it's a long one. But it's worth the read. Best revenge story ever." Revenge is the aim of the game in this action packed thriller. Flight 385 is on route to Honolulu when it is hijacked by two armed assailants. Just when you think you know where this story is heading, think again. The hijacking is but a small detail in what was an intricately woven web of panic, suspicion and revenge. When I finally felt some small relief towards the end of the book, the fear sky rocketed once again. Did anyone else hear Jaws music? The ending was satisfying but left me with one major unanswered question. (view spoiler)[Who brought the second gun on board wasn't really explained. I was so hoping Kyle (the detective) was in on it and that his Monte Cristo book that Alana salvaged had the hollowed out outline of a gun in it. That would have been the ultimate twist. (hide spoiler)] However, I enjoyed this book so much I'm willing to overlook it. One last thing; what the hell is Australia Air? We have quite a few real airlines, why make one up? Highly recommended. I will be raiding the authors back catalogue immediately. **Huge thanks to BooksGoSocial and Netgalley for my free ARC.

What a ride! This story moves very fast and is full of action and adventure. A flight out of Seattle is highjacked on its way to Hawaii. The story is about several of the characters involved in various ways. Various passengers: a nurse, a detective and the daughter of a pilot. One of the highjackers, and several people involved from the setup to the President's office. As the story unfolds we move between these characters as they react to the situations. I haven’t read a lot of thrillers based round hijackings or planes in general, but this one caught my eye and I was drawn to it instantly. Maybe a 4.5. I really liked this book and read it in one day. This would make a good movie. However, what lost it half a star (or one star, I haven’t really decided) is two things: the romance was a little stilted and beyond belief. Even with the additional epilogue, which you could have emailed to you if you signed up to the author’s fan page, did not do enough to explain what was going on there. I wanted more (which, in a way, speaks for how well the book was) that I wanted more, instead of wanting it to just end (James Patterson, I’m looking at you and 21st Birthday). Of course, there was some suspension of reality, but that’s usually why we read books. If it was 100% it would be boring. Or pointless. The fact that I wrote as much for a review, when I usually say little, speaks for how much I liked this book. If it ever gets optioned for a movie, I think it could do real well. Especially with a few small tweaks.

Audrey Cole has written an exceptionally heart-pounding experience! This is my first book by Audrey Cole and it is outstanding. From well developed characters to a cover to cover nail-biter I devoured this page turner and couldn't put it down. There wasn't a page that disappointed throughout non-stop gripping action. As a pilot myself I enjoyed the technical details that heightened the intensity of the hijacked flight. I highly recommend this novel.
