The Rise #1 is difficult to review at this stage as it only contains parts one and two of "The Rise" (serialised in Heavy Metal magazine). The art, by Diego Yapur, is exceptional and the story by George C. Romero follows a scientist in 1962 (half a dozen years before Night of the Living Dead's silver screen debut) is tight but at only two chapters is purely just setup for The Rise to start proper.
