While it was interesting throughout and did end on a bit of a cliffhanger, this isn’t the negative for me that it usually is. I will definitely be reading books number 2 and 3 when they come out. Normally, I advise people not to start a series before it’s completed, but in this case, I think reading book one is totally okay even though book two hasn’t yet come out. This cliff hanger won’t keep my up at night at least. Lol

I have read most of Tracy Higley’s books. My favorites of her books include Pyramid of Secrets (The Seven Wonders Series) and City on Fire (The Lost Cities Series). However, after reading A Time to Seek (first in the Time Travel Journals of Sahara Aldridge), I must say that this book is now at the top of my favorites list! Egypt, February 1922, in just a few short months, one of the greatest archeological discoveries of all time will be made. Both 32-year-old Sahara Aldridge, and archaeologist Howard Carter, are convinced that King Tutankhamen’s tomb is out there in the Valley of Kings, somewhere. But there is something else out there too, perhaps the answers surrounding her parent’s abandonment and mysterious deaths. Sahara Aldridge has had a love for Egypt since childhood. Growing up at Highclere Castle, she was given the opportunity to be a part of a world that few in that time were able to experience. After the death of her parents in Venice, and through the graciousness of Lord and Lady Carnarvon, she was able finish her Oxford education in Egyptian studies and begin her work alongside Mr. Carter. During her first week working in Egypt, Sahara experiences a strange occurrence which she can only chalk up to a hallucination induced by the desert heat, and first day nerves. As Sahara bends down to pick up an object laying in the sand of one of the tombs, she is transported back to the time of Seti I. She is bewildered and scared by what she is experiencing. After what seemed like a long time but was only a few minutes, she returns to her own time. What happened? Did she actually go to the funeral of Seti I? 8 years later, while digging for the tomb of King Tut, she is given a strange letter that was written by her parents, saying that they were going to meet archaeologist Giovanni Belzoni. The only problem being that Belzoni died in 1823 and the letter was dated 1905. Sahara wonders how that can be? Sahara starts putting pieces of the puzzle together. Other letters stating a once in a lifetime trip to see Hatshepsut has Sahara wondering, what if her parents didn’t really die? What if, as crazy as it sounds, they travelled back in time? Is that even possible? What if Sahara can travel in time too? She realizes that in fact she can. Maybe now she can get the answers she so desperately wants to the questions that have plagued her since that first time travel trip. Why did her parents abandon her to go to Venice when she was 15? Who is the strange woman that visited her at Highclere? Will the desire to find out what really happened cost her everything she holds dear including her life? Will traveling back in time change the future? Who is Jack Moretti and what is he hiding? How can she not trust Jack yet feel as though she is losing her heart to him? Danger, betrayal, hope, courage, and daring, are just some of the themes expressed throughout this fantastic fast-paced novel. I felt as though I was there in every experience that Sahara had. I could feel the Egyptian heat, hear the pounding of horse's hooves as they pulled chariots through the desert, feel the desperate cry of Sahara’s heart as she tries to figure out where she belongs in the world. The novel is exquisitely detailed. The weaving of both historical and fictional characters was sublime. It is a gift to be able to use words to transport a reader to other worlds and that gift is seen throughout this fantastic book. I look forward to the next book in this series with great anticipation! Thank you to Ms. Higley for providing an ARC of this book. All opinions within this review are my own.

I was asked to be part of the Ms. Higley's team to pre-read A Time to Seek. I have loved everything I have read by her and I knew the book is set in Egypt (a favorite place of mine) but was hesitant because this book is science fiction. The story is compelling and certainly deserves 5 stars. It is only because I have trouble suspending my disbelief in time travel that I give this book 4 stars. Science fiction fans will have no trouble giving it 5 stars. Most of this book is told in the first person by Sahara Aldridge, a young woman Egyptologist in 1922 having followed in the footsteps of her parents. She is working with Howard Carter searching to an untouched Pharaoh's tomb. Sahara was orphaned at age 15 while staying in England with family friends (none other than Lord Carnarvon) when her parents died on a trip to Italy in 1905. Sahara is an artist and records the current dig with sketches of items found. When a handsome reporter shows up at the dig, Howard does not want any news to leak about the find they have made until Lord Carnarvon can join them. Sahara doesn't want to encourage Jack Moretti, especially when she learns something about his past that puts her at unease. On top of all of that, she has discovered, quite by accident, things about her own past. She hopes to learn more about her parents fate by using a gift she learns she possesses. With the help of another traveler and her experiences, Sahara discovers that there are basic "laws of nature" that govern time travel. I found these rules to be quite fascinating in that they address many of the problems we associate with time travel - can someone change the past? All the characters are well developed. I felt like I knew each one personally. It was easy to imagine the various venues and personalities presented. As someone who has gone to Egypt multiple times over almost 30 years beginning in the 1970's and has seen changes as tourism increased, I enjoyed reliving my visits to various places Sahara also travels. It is clear that Ms. Higley did a lot of research into the time periods she discusses in this book from 1325 BC to the 1920's. While this book is the first in a trilogy, it is possible for it to be a stand alone. But to do that and feel totally comfortable with the tale, you must skip the prologue because the prologue will whet your appetite for the second and third books - how did she get to this point? I can hardly wait to read the further adventures of Sahara Aldridge.

A field, that in 1922, is dominated by men. Her love began as a young girl as she traveled with her parents as they made their own inroads into this field. But when she was 15 years old she lost them. Fortunately, the family that took her in allowed her to continue her studies of Egypt and archeology. Sahara has one last chance to secure her place in Egyptology before the funds that have supported the digs she has participated in are gone. But this year she has two goals while in Egypt - help make the find of a lifetime and determine the truth behind her parents' deaths. When her dear friend Evelyn finds something that casts doubt on all she knew about her parents, Sahara begins to question events from her own past. Could she and her parents have been more than she always knew? With a journal entry as her only clue, Sahara is about to dig into not only Egypt's past but her own as well. Her future may depend on what she discovers. And then there is Jack Moretti, an American photographic journalist who may have ties to the answers she's seeking. Is Jack a friend or a foe? Sahara has secrets to guard both as an Egyptologist on a dig and as a person who may have a gift of time travel and Jack may be a threat to everything. A Time to Seek takes the reader on a journey through time not by revealing discoveries of ancient cities and sites of importance but by seeing it through the eyes of a young woman who is about to discover just who she truly is. Sahara has the ability to slip into the past. But entering a world, a place, a time without the proper knowledge could be the death of her. A Time to Seek is the first book in The Time Travel Journals of Sahara Aldridge and it is an excellent read. I don't want to reveal too much and spoil it for any reader but really this is a not-to-be-missed book. And it will leave you in anticipation of book 2. I highly recommend this book if you have a love of the unexpected, time travel, mysteries, and speculative fiction. Or if you just love a well-written book you can't go wrong with this offering from Tracy Higley. I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion all thoughts expressed are my own.

The protagonist, Sahara Aldridge, is an English women around the age of 30 who is an Egyptologist. Her passion for digging into the sands of time in Egypt in the early 1920s was left to her from her deceased parents, also Egyptologists. Clues begin surfacing from Eve, a long-time friend, that cause Sahara to wonder about her parents (who never returned home after a trip to Italy 15 years earlier). What really happened to them? At the same time an American reporter, Jack Moretti, enters into her life asking to do a piece on her, take photos of the dig, etc. But Sarah feels there is more to his request. Can she trust him? What are his motives? With this backdrop, Tracy entwines the reader’s mind with twists and turns as you read about Sahara’s quest to find out the truth about her parents and Jack. Of course, since the book is about time traveling, the reader is zapped back in history to meet interesting heads of state in Ancient Egypt, all the while Sahara is doing her best to gather information, survive and return to her modern day. Since this is book 1 of 3, I was left with no answers to the big questions and pining for more of the story. A Time To Seek made me feel I was in Egypt. Tracy captures the sights, sounds and smells of Egypt of the 1920s and past. Oh, to be a fly on the wall and time travel back to see the Pharoahs of old (and hope to not be swatted before returning to modern day). I struggled to put the book down at night so I could get enough sleep for the next day. It’s just THAT good! I highly recommend this book. I am very anxious for the next book in this series .

Another great story from Tracy Higley! This is book one of three in the series. They had saved the poor American orphan from being turned out into the streets of London as a teen. They paid for her education as an archeologist. Now finally, after many delays, at the age of 32, she is able to work on an actual dig as an Egyptologist under Howard Carter. They are searching for King Tut’s tomb. But Sahara discovers far more than a tomb in the desert. She finds hints that her parents had the ability to time travel and she soon discovers that she does as well. Sahara travels to ancient Egypt and becomes embroiled in an adventure beyond her wildest dreams. Sahara is a truth seeker. She learns the truth of whose tomb it is they are uncovering in 1922. She learns much about Egypt and starts to realize how much she does not know. She learns more truths about her parents and even about herself. And Sahara also has to sort out her feelings for that American reporter, Jack Moretti, who begins asking too many questions. She finds that she is drawn to him but she does not know if she can trust him or not. Does he know more than he is telling? I look forward to reading more about Sahara and her time travel adventures as the story continues into books two and three.

I'd actually like to rate this as a 4.5 Stars. The storyline is well-paced and multi-dimensional. The title says it is a journal but it doesn't read like that. While in the ancient past, Sahara discovers someone else from the site can time travel as well. However, that individual's past and motive is a bit murky. Add to the mix, a side story of her parents, who she thought had drowned in a boating accident years ago, and you'll find there's a lot going on in this book. Like an archeological dig where there's more below the surface, the author flits on a few things that will be revealed as the series continues. Why I didn't rate it a 5 Star is the fact that there were many threads left dangling at the end of the book. I would have liked to see more of a wrap on the storyline for at least a few. Instead the end is a lure to you buying the next book in the series to get those questions answered.

I'm a sucker for time travel. I am fascinated by ancient Egypt. This book feels like it was written for me! One thing that this book has above many others, particularly in the Egyptian department, is that it explores Ankhesenamun and what might have happened to her. Sadly, this fascinating historical figure tends to get lost in the overwhelmingly huge shadow her husband casts. I am SO happy that Tracey L. Higley included Senamun and a very plausible example of what might have happened to her. Howar I'm a sucker for time travel. I am fascinated by ancient Egypt. Both are best known for their work in discovering the boy king's tomb (well, Carter did the digging, Lord Carnarvon did the financing). Seeing the entire process through Sahara's eyes was a true treat. Having read extensively on the subject, I knew the dates and what happened and felt my excitement growing the closer to the actual discovery the book got. I also love that Sahara was there for the conversation which became the tipping point of "one last season" for Howard Carter. His determination and never-give-up attitude about finding Tutankhamun's tomb has always been interesting to me - feeling he was always so close, but never finding it, but being so driven to keep trying. I love the extra meaningful circumstances thrown into the whole situation by Sahara and her own drive to find the tomb. This book is full of adventure, history, a teeny bit of possible romance, and atmospheric excitement from beginning to end. I could barely put it down, but at the same time, I didn't want to rush through it. It's a book to treasure, to savor, and to revisit like an old friend in times both good and bad. 5 well-deserved stars, and I am very much looking forward to the other books in the series!

The prologue being set in 2021 was confusing at first, but by the time you get to the epilogue, it gives you a fun hint as to the possibilities of Sahara's time travel abilities! That was really exciting, and I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of this series to find out how Sahara hones her skills on her journey.

Wow! I love how much detail Tracy adds to her stories! You can almost hear and smell the seatings, she is that good! I have read many of her book’s through the years and I consider her a favorite author of mine! This book was not a cliff hanger as I was worried it might be. It had a nice ending that left you wanting to read the next book but not ticked off that you can’t read it right now! I have to admit that I usually wait until all books are out to read a series for this reason. I really love Wow! I love how much detail Tracy adds to her stories! It adds a dimension of control but also an extra dimension of “out of control” because you have to be extra careful what you are thinking about at any given moment! Tracy’s books are very detailed. I do take notes just to be able to look up key facts when I get confused later in the story. This will help me when the new continuation stories come out as well. Read it! You will love it and then you can go read some of her past books while you wait for book 2.

I rooted for Sahara to find connections to her family. I can't wait for the book #2 in this trilogy to discover where the author will lead me, along with these delightful characters!

Tracy Higley is a gifted author whose knowledge of ancient history and ability to weave her fictional character into the historical event of the discovery of King Tut’s tomb creates a story that leaves you spell-bound. This book fits no genre. As the protagonist, Sahara Aldridge, searches answers to her parent’s death, it is a mystery. As a young woman in a man’s world of the study of Egyptology, it is historical fiction. When she travels through time, it is science fiction. Wherever her journey takes her, Jack is with her so a touch of romance. Perhaps, the most interesting aspect of this book is its philosophical nature as she searches for answers to life’s deepest mysteries. Sometimes, a movie allows a story to come to life, but Tracey Higley does it with words. I eagerly await her sequel.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to travel back in time? I have! This book adds a new dimension, so to speak, to time travel!! Wow! I have read many of Tracy Higley's books, and love them, and this one is no exception. I always love reading stories set on the continent of Africa (this one in Egypt), since I grew up in an African country, and I love time travel stories, so this book has double the attraction for me! I like well-thought out time travel, interesting characters who struggle and grow and hang with interesting people and have a love relationship and well, go on some sort of an adventure too. I also found the double layer of history in this book fun. Set in the early 1940s, some of the characters were able to travel back in time to ancient Egypt. So, as reader, we get Egypt in the Old Kingdom, the Middle Kingdom, and the recent past. I enjoyed everything about it, and look forward to having my remaining questions answered in the next two books. Satisfying as a stand alone.

I fell in love with Tracy Higley’s writing when I read her Seven Wonders series (based around the seven wonders of the ancient world). Her stories are always gripping, and rich with fascinating historical detail. A Time to Seek did not disappoint. I loved the concept of this time-travel story of a 1920s egyptologist who discovers she can travel back to ancient Egypt. It was well written and developed, the ending satisfying while still leaving plenty of questions and intrigue for the sequel. I really enjoyed this book and am so looking forward to the other books!

If you enjoy books about ancient Egypt, time travel, or just reading a great mystery, you’re in the right place! This is the first book I’ve read by Tracy Higley but will not be the last. While reading A Time to Seek, I was fascinated by the well-researched historical setting, the intriguing characters, and the descriptions that left me feeling like I was really in Egypt watching the story unfold. I highly recommend this book! The author weaves a wonderful tale that will leave you wanting more. Such a great book! The characters were complex yet realistic, the plot engaging, and the settings were easy to imagine. I wish there had been more "detective" type tropes as is common for Tracy's Ancient World settings but that is a very minor complaint. I've been a fan of Tracy Higley's writing for years. When I heard about her new series that was coming out, I was quite excited, and rightly so! A fascinating story, it's well written with characters that catch you up and take you along on a trip into the past. I love seeing the growth of an author as a writer, following their career with each book. Higley has certainly been a pleasure to read, as her work just gets better and better! Over the years I have enjoyed all the biblical travels that I have gone on through Tracy Higley's writing. I was very intrigued with the element of time travel in her new book A Time to Seek which is a complete hit! There are twists and turns to keep the reader glued to the page. Tracy has once again with her vivid descriptions, trust me into a world you can taste, feel, see, hear, and inhale! I was completely captivated! I have seen the treasures of Tutankhamen twice now: in 1976 in Washington and in Dallas in 2009. "A Time to Seek" brought back all the power and awe of the time of the Pharaohs with a twist of time traveling and possibly romance. I'm awaiting the next book! When the author asked me if I wanted to be a part of her team of beta readers, I jumped at the opportunity. This book definitely did not disappoint. It has layers within layers of mysteries. I had to keep reading to discover what was going to happen next. As a fan of Egyptology and fascinated by time travel it was hard to put down. The story was over to soon and I'll be waiting impatiently for the next installment. When the author asked me if I wanted to be a part of her team of beta readers, I jumped at the opportunity. Love time travel stories? Love ancient Egypt? Love a good mystery? Then this is the book for you. Tracy Higley has written a book that will capture your imagination from the first page. You’ll be delighted with the imagery painted to describe the scenery, love the interplay between characters, enjoy the time travel rules and be shocked at the plot twists. You’ll be wishing book 2 was already out when you reach the end of this first in a series.

This is the true definition of a page turner. Tracy has me truly invested in the characters as well as the mystery. This book has multiple storylines in it and often times an author will have me invested in one story line, but not all of them. That is not the case with this book as I want to know what will happen in ancient Egypt as well as the present day mystery of family secrets. Only buy this book if you want sleepless nights as you forsake sleep to dive deeper and deeper in.

Another good book by Tracy Higley. I read A Time to Seek as part of her Launch Team and couldn't put it down. I love ancient Egypt and her descriptions made me feel like I was there. I liked the main character, Sahara, and wanted to know what happened next -- all the way to the end. The time travel was unique in that it showed the Egyptian temples as they looked in ancient times. I am a big fan of Tracy Higley and have many of her books. I can't wait to read the next one: A Time to Weep. Another good book by Tracy Higley. Tracy Higley is back and better than ever! I believe A Time To Seek to be one of the best books I have read this year! I am a time travel fan and this book completely satisfied that need.
