Tougher than the Rest is a sweet romance by Amy Cummings. Readers are introduced to Skylar Chambers and Sgt. Evan Branford. She is a LG. He is a DD, a former marine and a cop, thus making him a bad-ass alpha male. Jordon did a number on her self-confidence through verbal abuse. Sgt. Branford takes his role as protector seriously and is determined to help clean up his city. Unfortunately, his successful efforts make him a target of the Proud Ones MC, who make and sell drugs. Destiny brings these two together when Skyler calls in a domestic disturbance with her neighbors. Upon meeting, sparks fly. Skyler awakens Evan’s protective and possessive streaks. I enjoyed this fast-paced romance. Ms. Cummings masterfully created two dynamic characters. Skyler is adorable. Evan is the perfect protector. I liked that she portrays their strengths and vulnerabilities. Ms. Cummings is skilled in crafting dialog. Both her conversational and internal dialogs expertly capture the true nature of her lead characters. Her descriptive scenes capture the attention of her readers and strongly immerses them into this story. Nice job, Ms. Cummings!
