I read Girl in the Green Villa by Yash Pawaskar in almost one sitting. It has trigger warning contents like- Death, Marital Rape, Child Abuse. I liked the fact that the author gave content warning at the beginning of the book, so that readers can decide for themselves. The book is well written and the language used is easy. It is a very short read, only 36 pages. The story is about Viraj and Jhanak, a married couple in the times of Covid and plan to take a weekend break in Green Villa, Mansol. Where something horrific unfolds and changes their lives forever. The story is told both in first and third person, as it switches into chapters, which makes it more gripping. How the story keeps changing between past and present makes it more interesting to read. I really liked the concept where in the author has included a strong social message within the murder plot. As the name and the cover suggests there is a horror twist too. It's a very quick and refreshing read. I never knew a short story can have so many interesting things in it.

Really short story, just 36 pages dedicated to a significant topic. What a beautiful way to tell about a serious issue that much neglected by the people. A perfect way to spreading awareness and making people thinking about some less talked about issues. Author Yash Pawaskar tried to tell us a distressful issue in this book - The Girl in Green Villa. People are less thoughtful in this topic but this topic needs grave seriousness. In the package of mystery, and thrill, the author served a terrible and intensely painful, valuable content. This is a story about childhood trauma. People are not likely to give it a second thought and we often think that everything will be fine by the passing time. But experience can't be deleted from the memory. Passing time is not a delete button nor medicine, and fear stays, strain stays behind the curtain... sometimes till the end of the life... people need to be healed. The story starts after Jhanak and Viraj's marriage. Jhanak rediscovers her childhood trauma is still exists when they go on their honeymoon. Jhanak's husband was unaware of her pain, her trauma-exhausted life. He is unaware and also didn't care about his wife's life, not so keen to understand why his wife behaving like this. Jhanak's unnatural behavior, her endeavor to creating distance, didn't scratch a single line into Viraj's mind. Life goes on and an unhealed brain made a terrible mistake, in the most undesirable way the traumatized brain made its way to refuse Viraj. Jhanak must be healed before starting her new life but again our typical thought that everything will be fine after some time, she also thought so. Jhanak has to pay for this negligence, not only she but everybody paid for this. What's the price that Jhanak and Viraj paid? If you want to know, you have to read this book. The story narration was really unique and lucid. The author narrated the story with two POV. One chapter was narrated from Jhanak's POV another was from the first person's POV which was a delight for readers. It's pacy and intriguing from the beginning, chills and thrill perfectly woven with every chapter. What I liked in it was the style, Yash Pawaskar intricate the story in a very engaging way, one chapter was addressed as "before the accident" and the next chapter mentioned as "after the accident"; I must say this is really a stunning style to telling a story. But the ending of the thriller didn't solve properly. It didn't justify with the serious issue that he started with. May be author didn't want to write this book on a pure serious issue, maybe he wanted it as a thrilling mysterious story. But still, I would recommend this book, a must-read for everyone, and kudos to the author to bring out this issue. Hoping he will give us more. I would like to give this book 4/5 Stars.

Viraj and Jhanak are newly wedded, but they are forced to postpone their honeymoon due to the pandemic. But when the opportunity arises, they travel to Mansol for an intimate getaway. They stay in a Green Villa, but something sinister seems to lurk beneath the picturesque scenery. Jhanak feels a presence, but she cannot share her fears with her husband, for he is solely focused on the only thing; the consummation of their marriage. I am double-minded about the book. On the one hand, the author incorporated overlooked but severe issues in the story, but on the other hand, the story does not work for me as a whole. Also, I feel a bit cheated that what has been presented as a horror story does not pan out as expected. One might argue that mental issues are more horrendous than any ghosts and stuff, and I agree. But I picked it up, hoping it will be a simple horror story. That aside, the author has narrated the story quite well. In 36 pages, it is definitely challenging to include detailed elements. And there is the drawback of several loose ends. Too many pieces were thrown together, and none of them fit perfectly. Because the ending doesn’t fit with the serious issues that he had begun with. It is fiction. We are not reading a novel to resonate with reality. The main problem was that too many serious issues were included in such a short book. I understand the author’s sentiment and applaud that he has tried to highlight them. It is just that the book seems like the author cannot make up his mind on what the focus of the story is. I do recommend the book to mature audiences. My rating is 3.5 stars

What really unfolds in Green Villa ? Is it really a paranormal force in the Villa ?  What I liked The language is simple, lucid. Being a short read, it can be taken as a choice for beginners. Liked how the author had played along with such sensitive themes as Child Abuse or Marital Rapes. A fast gripping read What I thought could be handled better So here is a victim who is probably fighting her own battles. The trigger point for me was that she did not seek help from a professional or from anyone indeed.  It's so very important to even address such issues which may sound so trivial. The victim here was very much aware that she was not comfortable with her surroundings and her person she was living with. Not that eyes needs to be closed and life lived under such circumstances. She was an individual who was well versed with the social issues and educated.  What needs to be stressed here is psychological and emotional treatment even before something horrific turns up rather than an introspection later on. That said, nobody deserves to suffer in silence. Speak up. Seek help if needed.  A no is definitely a big big No. Be it for a day or week or even much longer. No doesn't even mean convince the other. It's definitely a No..

The story goes in flashback mode quite several times to recapture the last minutes of the moment. The author has beautifully descripted the turn of events which indeed makes it quite a thriller read. However he takes us into the past life of Jhanak where we get into the glimpse of her childhood memory. One can definitely feel the excitement and terror of their honeymoon night right after she is newly wed to Viraj. She was petrified as to what will about to happen even though she is right what is going in her head. The story truly involves you to reading till the end to uncover the mystery the Green Villa with couple of twists and turns which happened to their worst nightmare of their life. There is also a very deep message hidden in the plot depicting the right and wrong way of doing things.

This is a short, 36 page read that can hold your breath throughout and make you heave a sigh of relief at the end of one sitting. The story is very fast paced with numerous twists that keeps you etched onto the plot. Why does Jhanak feel insecure? Why does she hate nights? The chapters of the story keeps alternating between the different time periods that never makes the read monotonous. The investigation and the final conclusion sums up the entire story beautifully. The author has a refined writing style and luvmcid vocabulary which is commendable except the quoted conversations of the characters which were highly colloquial. Apart from this, this is a story you must read when you need something fast, mind blowing and interesting. It can also be considered as a remedy for your reading slump!

After a wait of months and getting themselves adapted to the new normal life, they finally plan to spend some quality time together in a beautiful hilly villa. However, the experiences with which the villa welcomed them were something none of them was prepared for. What must have happened in the Villa? What actually was going on under the covers there? Well, to know the answers, you need to read the book soon. Spanning over a mere 36 pages, this story is compact and impactful in the essence of being mysterious. The story is continuously switched between the past and present but the author did a good job of maintaining the flow of the narration which was kept steady and fast-paced. There are furthermore twists and turns in the story to keep the readers engrossed. However, for a short read of 36 pages, there a lot of very sensitive and triggering issues covered in the story. So, if you are someone who does not feel comfortable reading such issues, I would suggest you give this book a pass. Otherwise, beginner mystery lovers can check out this book for a quick read. But it depicts very important issue in women's day to day life, i.e., marital rape. We don't have any such law that protects women from marital rape because as the society believes, consent of women in sexual intercourse with husband is not important as he is the husband and allowed to do whatever he wants to do. For me, rape is rape no matter in which relationship it is. Consent is important, taking no as an answer from a woman is important, speaking up for yourself is important. I always get induced by such books which talk about our issues and it gives me motivation to have as much information and learning as I can have in this lifetime. Over all, this book is a good read and if you can spare some time then you can definitely go for this one.

The story isn't exceptional, but the delivery is. Which is what kept me invested despite guessing the plot. ✨ Despite being short and fast paced, it deals with few extremely relevant topics - one of them being child abuse. The author has given a trigger warning at the introductory page, which I missed checking out on. So I clearly wasn't prepared for the distress it caused me. One of the things that irked me was the ending felt unjustified, considering the severity of the crime. Undoubtedly, it is difficult to capture it in such a short book, but it made me restless and disturbed personally. Nonetheless, a great attempt by the author! And certainly a recommendation if you're in search of a short read. ✨

Short as it is, the story does manage to tackle issues such as marital rape and child abuse among others, so I really do appreciate the author's effort for that.

So, this is a love story, I guess we can all figure that out from the first read itself but one thing that is the element of surprise in this book is that it is not your usual love story. It is filled with actions and developments that one can hardly see that so much time has passed while reading it. This book is a must-read for everyone. Do read it if you have the chance. Everything is done beautifully. The characters are well developed and the language is clear and straightforward. Such a great read.

So, he books a room in the famous green villa which is located in a hill station. The couples were the only one who stayed in that villa. On their way to the villa, the car driver says that a girl was killed in that villa by a gang of boys before 1 year. Viraj took it lightly but after sometime, Jhanak started feeling a paranormal presence in their room. They failed to know that the girl was killed in an opposite room to where Viraj and Jhanak is staying now. It was a very short read which I finished in one sitting. The suspense built in the first half of the story was perfect. But I was disappointed by the end of the story. I felt so many questions were left unanswered. Nevertheless, the message conveyed at the end is good. The language is lucid and if you are comfortable with the trigger warnings mentioned and if you are into a short horror story, then do check this out. TW: Marital Sexual assault, child abuse.

Read the book to know the full story. 📖 📖 My Views - The story started with a horror plot and throughout the story the mystery and eerie feeling was continued till the climax. The story travels between past and present thus making it an interesting read. There are many sensitive issues such as marital rape, child abuse which are very serious but less talked-about are discussed here within the story. The story is a short read of just 36 pages but covered very serious issues in the form of mystery and thriller. The narration is smooth and characters are well built. The title is also apt with the plot. . It was a serious, eerie yet interesting read.

The horror feeling intensifies as the story progresses and gets more interesting. The story ends in a very different way than it starts, but I liked this ending much better. Few important issues were addressed. Some are, marital rape is still rape and, mental health needs to be treated just like any physical illness. The book can be completed within an hour. With just a few countable characters, the story has the capability to leave a strong memorable impression with the reader. I definitely recommend this book to those who are looking for a short read. This will help those who are in a reading slump.

I appreciate the author for writing such an amazing story with limited words. There are still many issues which people don't talk about and writing about that in such a beautiful manner is commendable. The plot of the book is great and it kept me hooked to the story. The pace of the book is fast and eventually I didn't read the trigger warnings written in the beginning of the book. The language of the book is simple and the narration is done in a lucid manner. The portrayal of every character is done very specifically. The ending of the book is not much justified, a little bit more effort in the ending would have been great. Overall, I loved the book. I'll recommend it to all the book lovers who love short reads.

The Green Villa is known to be the horror house in this story. So, everything in the story starts from there. The story will be revolving around the two phases, before the murder and after the murder which leads Jhanak in shock. Initial part of the story is no more than a horror or spooky story. And then comes the climax which is outstanding. The story contains some provoking elements as well. It basically highlights the sexual abuse and rape. This is one of the best book I have read with amazing narration. It is short, crisp and to the point containing everything! This book is highly recommended to everyone who is into thrillers!!

So this is the whole heart of a story, you might be thinking it as a horror story from the book name and cover page but believe me it's not. Some elements of horror genre are used just to intensity the story and lastly you will find no horror element at all. Very interesting and unique writing style as it is non -linear and mixed genre story containing lots of suspense and surprises in just 36 pages. Interesting anyone can complete it in one sitting.
