I was greatly impressed by the intricately woven plot that incorporates many strong themes, such as abuse (i.e. Mackenzie’s step-father) and hardship that some readers will find themselves being able to relate to. With inner meaning and a fantastic main protagonist this brilliant book is inspirational, profoundly poignant and a thoroughly gripping read. If you are a fan of fantasy horror and Daemons then I highly recommend S. K Gregory’s outstanding story. Daemon Persuasion is about Mackenzie Murphy, a young girl who whilst searching for her father ends up finding herself in the midst of a Daemon war. Alongside trying to master her own Daemon abilities she is faced with a choice of whom she can trust; Taryn or the mysterious but captivating Lucien? In a cleverly crafted world with a hierarchy of Daemons and half-daemons, Mackenzie must learn to harness her abilities and understand how to control the shadow which does her bidding. This young adult fantasy story I felt was targeted towards the younger reader more. It is well-written, deliciously atmospheric and full of inspired creative vision. Extraordinarily rich and diverse this is one of those kinds of books which reaches out to a wide-readership, and not just those who like fantasy fiction. *I won a paperback copy of ‘Daemon Persuasion’ by S. Ok. Reading about demons is definitely not my thing, but I decided to at least download a sample of S. R. Gregory's "Daemon Persuasion". Samples can tell you a lot, and this one sure did. From the very beginning, I was immediately drawn to the heroine, Mackenzie and her world--her abusive step-father, her neglected childhood, her toughness, her wry sense of humor in spite of everything, and...her supernatural powers. Well-written and very well-paced, the reader slowly learns about how Mackenzie Ok. Reading about demons is definitely not my thing, but I decided to at least download a sample of S. R. Well-written and very well-paced, the reader slowly learns about how Mackenzie has unknowingly always been part of a hierarchy of demons and half demons and in her search for her supernatural father, Sebastian, she meets Lucien and Taryn, two brothers who aren't what they seem. The thing is, usually, when I try reading a book that creates an unreal world, after a while it starts to go in one ear and out the other, but Ms. Gregory's ability to make Mackenzie's reactions so believable, her own learning process so clear and unclouded, I didn't for one second doubt what was happening to her. Now, THAT takes talent. In short, this is a highly recommended read!

I recieved this book from a goodreads giveaway.Every one keeps pointing out how this book is a horror story, but honestly I don't see much horror. Thrilling, intense, and exciting yes. A little humor and some sketchy characters, definately. But I don't see horror in the book. Don't get me wrong here, I think this was a fantastic book. Very nicely written, awesome personalities in the characters, and fun. I like fun. It was pretty badass for a book. I received a copy of this book from the author and Paranormal Romance & Authors that Rock, in exchange for an honest review. The Prologue explains the events that caused what she refers to as “the shadow” to emerge for the first time. It then moves on from there and takes you to Mackenzie’s life ten years later. Her journey jump starts when she decides to search for her real father. During this she meets the two leading men in this story, Luke and Taryn, who keep you guessing as to what their motives are during the hunt for a special coin that her Father had at some point in time. Mackenzie finds herself mixed up in a battle of power that dates back before her time. There weren’t any in-face-your surprises, but it’s still captivating enough to keep you interested in wanting to know how the events play out. I didn’t feel there was an HEA per say, but it had enough of a conclusion that it left me content. I also don’t feel it ended in a cliffhanger, but I think that could be argued by an individual’s opinion because the ending left the story wide open for a continuation. I haven’t looked yet if there is a second book, but if there is I will get a copy because I’d like to see how things continue on for Mackenzie. My only criticism is editing. I don’t know if it was due to the format in which I’d received my copy, but some parts of the story were mixed up. Example: One paragraph was basically cut in half and out of order, but it was contained in the single paragraph. It took me a couple times of re-reading it to see that and there were a few paragraphs where something like this occurred. It was a little frustrating but tolerable because other than that the wording, spelling, etc was done good. With a little more editing the book would be on par. Regardless of the errors, I give the story (5) stars because I really enjoyed this story. It was a nice mix of supernatural (focused on demons), a tweak of romance, mystery, adventure, and drama.

I really enjoyed this book. It has a strong heroine, plus an intriguing and fast paced plot with lots of twists and turns, many of which I didn’t see coming! I thought Mackenzie and Taryn made a good pair and I enjoyed the banter between them - though they appear to pretty much hate each other, I'm sure there's some chemistry there and I'm excited to see how S.K. Gregory will develop it. Also, I just have to mention that I love a heroine with a motorbike! I loved the idea of there being differen I really enjoyed this book. Mackenzie's talent for controlling demons was also very intriguing and I'm looking forward to finding out if any other hidden talents will be revealed. The only problem I, personally, found with this book was that sometimes the action scenes went too quickly and were over in a couple of lines. However, this was only a few scenes in the beginning and once the demons were introduced I was thoroughly hooked and I can't wait to see what happens in the second book, Daemon Madness. A great book, I definitely recommend giving it a read! For more reviews and to see my favourite quotes from this book, visit my blog at http://mlsparrow.wix.com/mlsparrow

I read this book after winning a paperback copy in a Goodreads giveaway. It is signed by the author and came with a nice little S.K. Gregory bookmark, so thank you to the author and publisher for that. When I received the book I was a little skeptical as it has been quite cheaply produced, so I admit that I did not have high hopes. Having said that, I did enjoy reading this overall. I like the author's writing style and the premise of the story is good, solid and interesting enough. I liked the ch I read this book after winning a paperback copy in a Goodreads giveaway. I liked the characters and there are quite a few cliffhangers and excitement throughout, so I was keen to pick it up and keep reading. I was a little bit let down by the ending, it seemed rushed and didn't quite come to the epic climax I was expecting. The main thing that let the book down for me was that there were quite a few typos and this ruined the flow of reading for me. I'd recommend to any YA readers keen on fantasy.

Mackenzie Murphy is a half demon who can control a shadow which does her bidding. She gets mixed up in a battle between three warring families one of which is her own. This book is fast paced and has a strong female lead. The characters are well written. This is the first book and it definitely leaves you wanting more. I think the character of Taryn is interesting as you don't quite know where his loyalties lie. Fans of the show "Supernatural" will feel the vibe the author does with her female half blood, daemon. Stuck in between a three family rival and a talisman that holds power, they all want. Two unexpected twist and some hyper fast pace fight scenes, held my interest. Found myself rooting for Mackenzie in this page turning daemon persuasion. Gregory's half blood daemon is a character to watch, I'm hoping she gets mid evil in the next book and bashes some of those lesser daemons. I received this book via Goodreads giveaway. I found that instead of being a horror story it was more of a suspense thriller. I was thoroughly entertained and drawn into the story until the very end.

Welcome to the dark side This is a good story that brings to mind the fight of good versus evil, and it delves into the fantasy slash paranormal area. It's an easy read and is well written, but the characters could use a little depth. I enjoyed the story, and Mackenzie, who is a remarkably strong woman, who often gets her own butt kicked, but she fights and fights well. The story offers humor and intrigue, that breaks up the fights and darkness. Decent but dragged I felt nothing for the characters, even when they were being tortured. I like the premise but the execution was just lackluster. The pacing was off, the emotional response of the story was off, and the resolution is just depressing.

The only thing I liked about this book was Mackenzie, she was a character that was relatable (aside from the demon powers) as she had to deal with a lot in her life - her abusive stepdad, her mother, and her unexplained abilities. She was not just a beautiful girl who got whatever she wanted; she worked her butt off, looked out for her mother, and tried to deal with all the new information she was receiving. Other than that, the characters were not interesting, the story was not thrilling, and I did not enjoy this book. *I won this copy of Daemon Persuasion by S K Gregory through a Goodreads First-Read giveaway.*

Excellent book! I'm not usually into the whole "horror" genre, but this book had me in from the start. Read it in one sitting. Loved the characters and the story. I hope book 2 isn't too far off.
