What a charming, feel good story! I just live for Rebecca Jenshak’s new adult sports romances, and I was so excited to dive into this new world. We get a feel good romance, a heroine who does some growing, and all the fun I love about a college sports story- a team full of lovable goofs, parties, high stakes athletic moments, and young adults learning how to be adults, in love and life. While I’ve not read the other books in the series (yet), I loved all of the characters both big and small in this Moo world- and I swooned with delight over the sweet love story between prickly Kailtyn and affectionate Lex. Kaitlyn is such a different heroine- something I appreciated but also took me a minute to warm up to her. In fact, in the first few chapters I was worried I wouldn’t like her - but RJ totally changed my mind. One thing I find so refreshing about Rebecca Jenshak is how she consistently plays with the sports/college trope- her characters and their stories never fit in one box. And Kaitlyn is a perfect example of that- we have a heroine who is a troublemaker, on the outs with her family as the result of a string of bad decisions, one of which is why she’s been punished to attend Moo. She’s not like your typical new adult heroine- she’s stoic, closed off emotionally, rough around the edges and carrying a huge chip on her shoulder. Early on, she’s in the wrong- the jerk, a bit arrogant, and frustrating- but we soon learn that there’s a gentle heart and kind soul underneath her teeth. Meanwhile, Lex is a GIANT TEDDY BEAR. This man is just impossible to not be charmed by- he’s sweet, emotionally available, a hard worker and so genuine. This is a hero that is transparent and uncomplicated. And he’s so patient (and cute) in his pursuit of the prickly Katilyn. I love how charmed he is by her sharp edges, love his earnest and sensitive wooing of her. I love how selfless he is- even this story’s narrative demonstrates this, because this story is really about Kaitlyn and her growth. RJ is really a gifted character writer- she has an uncanny way of bringing relatable characters to life on the page- they are memorable, unique, well defined and nuanced, but also subtly created- they feel normal. The way her characters grow and change through love is what I love best about her stories- she helps them grow up, helps them become a better version of themselves, but without the melodrama, and without compromising or changing their core. What RJ does with Kaitlyn is just that- Kaitlyn grows up, learns to be a little less selfish and more open, and she sheds the chip on her shoulder by learning how to face conflict, with honesty and forgiveness. We get some softness from her, without RJ making her into someone she’s not- she doesn’t turn into a lovesick heroine, she’s still a bit jaded, still sassy, but now with an open heart. I love how Lex supports and champions her emotional needs, her emotional journey- and how Kaitlyn has to mature to learn to champion and prioritize his, too. There’s a sexiness to the maturity of that- to the sweet and relatable nature of their story. Like most RJ books, we have some minor conflict but the story is relatively low angst. We have all the Hallmarks that make me a RJ junkie- flirty banter and some sass, a sweet but sexy character chemistry, affable and impactful side characters, and two leads who you can’t help but fall in love with. RJ books always fill my soul with happiness and affection- and this does just that. Smiles, swoons, and sweet butterflies - the feel good romance I needed.

Enough rambling, let's talk shop. STORY I loved everything about Slapshot. Kaitlyn has been burned in the past by guys using her to get to know her famous hockey star dad. So she has no reason to believe that Lex Vonne, aspiring team member of the Moo U hockey team is any different. Lex, however, is one of the good guys and he'd jump through hoops, walk through fire and climb her impenetrable walls to make Kaitlyn see how desperately he is falling for her. Kaitlyn sure is hard to convince and her trust doesn't come easily but you know once she gives it, Lex will feel like a million bucks. Their romance was adorable. Their banter was sweet, their chemistry on fire. You get all the goodness that comes with college romance, the awesome sidekicks, some fun times with the rest of the hockey team and the prospect of more books to come in this awesome world. And btw. if you feel that the name Kaitlyn rings a bell? She's Dylan's girlfriend in Heartland and not gonna lie, I hated her in that book. I didn't think I could ever love her but damn, I did! And now I want to re-read Heartland and see if I can see her with different eyes. Rebecca Jenshak is becoming a go-to name for NA sports romance and her stories don't need to fear comparison with the big names. If you love Sara Ney, Elle Kennedy or Sarina Bowen's stories (duh!) you'll fall in love with these characters. NARRATION And if you don't mind some blushing get the audiobook. Emma Wilder and John Lane's narration is sizzling eargasm goodness. I'm no stranger to Emma Wilder, who always delivers but John Lane? OMG. I don't even care what he reads, he can make chemistry formulas sound sexy. BOTTOM LINE I recommend this feel-good story with lovable characters whole-heartedly, whether you read or you listen to it.

I just love it when some of my favourite authors come together on a project. Seriously what more could I ask for than Sarina Bowen's world and Rebecca Jenshak's writing? Everything Sarina Bowen has written I have devoured. And I couldn't get enough of Rebecca Jenshak's Smart Jocks series. So, this book being announced had me jumping with joy. And with Sarina Bowen publishing them and doing the promotion I jumped on them before they had covers and blurbs and I'm loving every second of the journey. And getting to know more of each of the guys in each book since the characters all crossover is perfect. Lex and Kaitlyn were an awesome combination. I loved Lex from the beginning, he was so driven and focused on being the best he could be. I kind of worried that that might have gotten in the way of his relationship. But instead, he turned all that intensity and drive to winning Kaitlyn over. And Kaitlyn was one hard nut to crack. She had been disappointed and misunderstood so much she was pretty closed off and defensive. Which was understandable but sometimes doesn't come across well in a new adult romance. Luckily, Rebecca is an amazingly talented writer and I loved Kaitlyn and sympathised with her. I am absolutely obsessed with the Moo U series and I am definitely going to have to read the Busy Bean series. And I'm going to have to check out the Vino and Veritas books too. Because I can't get enough of this world and I am intrigued by all these characters.

Kaitlyn Dalager is a new transferred student at the Moo U, she likes to spurge money until the day she finds herself broke because her famous ex NHL player father cuts her fonds. She has to get a job quickly and her only acceptable choice is the hockey team’s equipment manager, so even if she came to despise everything hockey related because that's her father first and only love, she accepts it. Lex Vonne is a hockey player, he feels insecure in the team because he started to play the sport only few year before so he spends all his energy trying to reach his teammates level, until he meets the new equipment manager. Kaitlyn tries to keep Lex at distance because so many times she had been burnt in the past with guys who has used her in order to meet her father, but it isn't easy to ignore his beauty and kindness. Will Lex conquer Kaitlyn trust showing she is the most important thing in his life? Or will Kaitlyn be right to be cautious with him? Kaitlyn and Lex are perfect, I adored them individually and as a couple. Kaitlyn is my favourite she could be mistaken for a rich and annoying brat but she actually is a nice girl who is scared to suffer again and she has built high walls to protect herself. Rebecca Jenshak wrote a sweet, hot and entertaining story, it's easy to read her words and it feels like it ends too quickly...ah ah ah but maybe that's me because I flew between its pages. I enjoyed and recommend this new adult college romance to everyone, and if you want to read about another great manager I suggest you to also get The Understatement of the Year and The Shameless Hour by Sarina Bowen. The narration by John Lane and Emma Wilder was fantastic and their performances complemented each other very well. I had no trouble distinguishing between characters and both gave playful and emotional performances. Many secondary characters are introduced and make appearances throughout Slapshot. Several characters already have books in the works (I can't wait for Paxton's story), and I'm hoping this isn't the last time we see Kaitlyn's friend, Vivian. I'm excited to read more from the Moo U series! *I voluntarily listened and read an advance review copy of this book*

Rebecca Jenshak is a new to me author so I was also looking forward to sampling her writing. This book turned out to be a very enjoyable listen from beginning to end. Kaitlyn is new to Moo U after a bad situation. She is living in the dorm and her roommate stole her boyfriend. Now she has been cut off financially by her famous father and has to get a job. She ends up with the last job she would have wanted working as the equipment manager for the Moo U hockey team. The fact that her father turned hockey pro after attending Moo U probably didn't hurt her in getting the job. Lex is focused on hockey and moving up in the team. Lex didn't pick up a hockey stick until high school so he feels like he is a bit behind the other guys on the team when it comes to experience. He is a genuinely nice guy who happens to be drawn to the new equipment manager and somehow is able to break through her shields. I loved Lex and Kaitlyn together. Kaitlyn is always worried that people only want to get close to her in order to get close to her famous father. Lex somehow worked his way past her defenses and the sparks really flew every time they were together. I thought that these two had fantastic chemistry together and I felt like their personalities fit together perfectly. I loved seeing them together and it was fun watching their relationship develop over the course of the story. Emma Wilder and John Lane did a wonderful job with the narration of this story. I thought that their voices complimented each other very well. I loved how they were both able to add a lot of emotion to the story in their reading and I thought that they were able to bring the characters to life. I found myself wanting to listen to this book for hours at a time and believe that their narration added to my overall enjoyment of the story. I would highly recommend this book to hockey romance fans. I loved that a lot of that hockey played a big role in this story and I had a great time watching these characters fall for each other. I cannot wait to read more of Rebecca Jenshak's work as well as future installments in the Moo U Hockey series. I received a digital review copy of this audiobook from the author/publicist.

I die for this stuff, you guys. I gobble it up and keep coming back for more! Lex was one of those heroes who made it absolutely impossible not to love him. He was so sweetly sincere and steadfast in his pursuit of Kaitlyn, and in general just such a genuine, intuitive spirit. He was adorable and earnest and pretty much pure perfection. Kaitlyn was a little harder for my heart to embrace (and if you recognized her from her role in Heartland - which admittedly is not a connection I made right away - you'll know that the cards were stacked against her likability going in). It took a while for her to get out of her own way and I was very frustrated with her for a while. I was braced for their inevitable conflict, but when it finally came - while it did break my heart - I found the way it was handled to be so satisfying in a way that I was not expecting at all. Her redemptive character arc totally worked for me and I loved getting to see that soft underbelly in the end. Overall, Slapshot was a relatively low angst romance filled with flirty banter, sparky physical chemistry, and an absolutely adorable ending that made my heart so happy. This read like a sweet, decadent treat for my heart, and I had so much fun reading it! ~ Shelly, 4 Stars

I settled into the Moo U world so effortlessly and loved every word of Lex and Kaitlyn's story. Kaitlyn is such a tough cookie. She's had to live with being the 'famous hockey star's daughter' for most of her life and is sadly used to people who see her as a stepping stone to get close to her father. She's sworn off all things hockey in an effort to guard her heart...until she's in desperate need of a job. Lex is a determined and focused hockey player. Even though I love my angsty bad boy book heroes, Lex is exactly the kind of guy you would want in real life. He's goofy, supportive, and not afraid of showing Kaitlyn how he feels, and I loved how open he was. ARC received for an honest review Just as the new NHL season is ramping up, so is my reading of my hockey hotties. I loved that this second installment of the Moo U series focuses more on the hockey side of the things, more than that farm side (don't get me wrong, I love all the Vermonty-farmy stuff, but the hockey has my heart 💜) Lex is just all kinds of swoony. Man...it has been a while now since I had read Heartland but initially after I realized who she was I thought "oh right, Kaitlyn, mean-ish roommate who had been dating Dylan that I didn't like" but...man I'm annoyed at myself for thinking that. That's the problem with the first person narrative though. We see what one character sees and what they feel, and their story and their truths aren't always the full picture. I got a big reminder of that in this book. While I couldn't personally put myself in Kaitlyn's shoes, I understood. I got why she had done what she did with Dylan and her mindset made sense. My heart still hurt for her, but it made sense. The fact then, that she had those complex feelings about hockey and ended up having to work as the team's equipment manager was *chef kiss*. The perfect kind of plot device to help move her story forward. Especially with Lex (:. Ahh, to be a young, cocky hockey player used to being hot shit and getting his way. I love when those types of men are put in their place by women, lol. Don't get me wrong, Lex isn't your typical alpha jock that you only enjoy reading about in books, but he still has that natural confidence. I loved their dynamic together from start to finish. Love that she helped him on the ice and that he broke down her walls so that she began to trust in him. Of course there was a little bit of tension to stir things up towards the end but you know, sometimes you just need that little bit of angst to really drive things home at the end. Huge thanks to HeartEyes Press and Sarina Bowen for allowing me to read this eARC in exchange for my honest opinion!♥ For more of my reviews, please visit:

Another great book by the author! She writes new adult and sports romance like no other. College companionships are well described, with the teasing by the pairs, the parties, but also the loyalty inside the teams. While Kaitlyn struggles with her relationship with her father, Lex is trying to find his place in the hockey team. During their journey, they learn to rely on each other, and they change their perspective, find new more important things. The character development is amazing here. And the secondary characters all have their role to play, but they’re also the heroes of their own stories. Even not knowing the universe this book is set in, I had no problem relating with them. As always, I enjoyed the easy and fun banter between the various characters. But what I love the most is the hockey part! You get in the locker room; you see the equipment and its management; there’s some on ice action, and some strategy planning. It really gives a feel of college hockey. I can’t recommend it enough, it’s a not too angsty college romance with a hockey backdrop. This super sweet and adorable romance had me swooning right from the start and I quickly found myself completely lost amongst the pages. Kaitlyn Dalager and Lex Vonne had an explosive chemistry that gave me all the feels and I couldn't get enough of this adorable couple. The attraction between these two was instantly evident from the moment they laid eyes on each other, even if Kaitlyn denied it for as long as she could, but with a guy like Lex there is no obstacle he isn't willing to climb if it means getting the girl. These two were a perfect match that complimented one another. While Lex was a sweet and sensitive character, Kaitlyn was a little guarded and had a bit of a Pitbull attitude. With a famous hockey player for a father, she struggled to find who her real friends were. Although she pushed Lex away time and time again, he was persistent and eventually wore her down. Overall, this couple gave me life and I was living for every second of their journey. Rebecca Jenshak storytelling is absolutely addictive and her character development is ALWAYS on point. She is a queen of sports romances and when I heard she was part of the Moo U series, I couldn't freaking wait to get my hands on her story and it was definitely worth the wait. Her story was a beautiful addition to this series and I cannot wait to read all the books in this new universe full of sexy college hockey players!

So one thing to know about this series that is exists in the True North World that was created by Sarina Bowen. And Moo U was introduced in Bowen's book, Heartland, which featured Dylan and Chastity. Meaning we saw our first glimpse of Kaitlyn, which because she was in the way of Dylan and Chastity's HEA, I didn't like her too much. But! Now she has her own story to tell and we get to know her a lot better and find out why she wasn't all that nice and great in Heartland. And turns out, Kaitlyn is actually a pretty awesome heroine. So Kaitlyn isn't really loving her Moo U experience. She was kicked out of her last college and shipped here by her dad who is basically cutting her off until she proves that she is on the right track again. Then of course being the roommate to the girl who ended up with her ex-boyfriend isn't a great feeling. As she tries to pick herself back up, she realizes she needs a job and ends up working as the equipment manager for the boys' hockey team. A job she could do in her sleep because she grew up with hockey since her dad was a famous hockey player. And this job brings her to Lex. Who she is at first sure is just using her to get to her dad. Since in Kaitlyn's experience that is usually the case. But Lex is not like any guy she knows. He genuinely likes Kaitlyn and just wants to get to know her. Lex has to be the absolute sweetest. And when he isn't trying to win Kaitlyn over, he is probably the hardest working player on the Moo U team. I loved their story. Lex was an absolute dream who continued to fight for Kaitlyn and prove that he was there for her and her alone. It isn't easy and there were definitely ups and downs. Kaitlyn has built a shield around herself and has never given anyone a real chance. But Lex has a way of understanding her and making her want to try to trust and fall in love. All around great story. Their romance was great, great banter, and of course hockey and hockey players! Another great insight to this world that is getting bigger and bigger and I'm looking forward to it all! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

It's official, I'm obsessed with Moo U. Rebecca Jenshak absolutely killed it in this second book in the new series from Sarina Bowen's World of True North. And the narrators of the audiobook? If you read Bowen's Heartland, you probably hated Kaitlyn like I did, so Jenshak had her work set out for her in making Kaitlyn likable and the heroine of her own story, but she did a phenomenal job. Kaitlyn starts off as your stereotypical entitled rich girl - kicked out of her last school and exiled to Vermont, cut off from daddy's money, and unfit (or unwilling) to work most of the jobs the college job placement program has available. But throughout the novel, her growth and willingness to embrace hockey, a sport she pretends to despise thanks to her tumultuous relationship with her hockey royalty dad, and the hockey players around her as she takes on her new job as the hockey team's equipment manager really softened my heart towards her. And her relationship with Lex, a hockey hero you can't help but adore, sealed the deal. The way they support each other through their hardships made them an absolutely swoony couple for me and ultimately made this my first five star book of the year. I was graciously provided an audio ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The drama is definitely real in this one with the way Kaitlyn starts her year at Moo U. She has to listen to her ex and her roommate getting busy in the next room.
