I grabbed this story during the giveaway and really enjoyed it. First: cowboys, baby! Next: eye fucking galore, oodles of sexual chemistry, rough & dirty Also: dual POV with decent character development Plus: no manufactured drama; Harlan is a dick to Ben, but he regrets it and apologizes. Finally: epilogue with a HEA! (something most of these winter event stories have lacked) I'm pleased I get to add this one to my Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy shelf. Giddy up! It took me a few pages to warm up because at first it was just oodles of lust. And, absolutely NOTHING wrong with that. But, oodles of lust does not necessarily make for a believable HEA. The author gave these guys just enough conflict and extra time together to give them the depth they needed to move beyond the lust oodles and into real character development though. That extra oomph makes this such a great addition to the Winter Wonderland offerings and it's one of my favorites so far. A Song for Harlan is a novella set in L.C. Chase's The Pickup Men universe. I read the third book back in 2014 and I thought this short novella could definitely be a stand alone. It was an okay read for me... yes, Harlan and Ben were good together, and Harlan's boy, Tanner, was a darling. But that was it, nothing mind-blowing about this one. Rather predictable, really. Just finished A Song for Harlan by LC Chase and I loved it! Part of the WInter Wonderland freebie giveaway, this single, cowboy father, Harlan, his adorable son, Tanner and the sexy singer Harlan are not to be missed! I went back to see if I have read this author before and I had back in 2014 and I apparently loved all the books I have read. Not only did I love this sweet, sexy story, but the cover is gorgeous...I highly recommend this wonderful short and particularly for my cowboy lovin' peeps! Sweet follow-up to Pulling Leather, where Ben and Harlan are part of the side characters. Insta-lust to love connection in days but it rounds out the series nicely.

Quick read, sweet, insta attraction, forced proximity This is a sweet read with a single father who’s been burned and therefore very protective of his heart and his son and a singer roaming the country looking for what he wants. But Ben has another gig to get to. Mother Nature has other plans. Both MCs are sweet and you want to root for them. They are both searching and Harlan is afraid to take a risk. Harlan’s son Tanner is a cute secondary character who helps propel the storyline. It’s a short story but the author does a good job with letting us get to know the characters, building the relationship, creating the conflict and resolving the conflict. The ending is a bit abrupt but more a function of the format than anything. A good, quick read.

A single dad will always win me over at the start of a romance, but these characters were also instantly likeable and real. The MCs had a palpable insta-lust that worked like gangbusters for a couple of cowboys described as sexy as these two, but the romance was something they had to earn, which made it even better. MC Ben singing and playing guitar was a great bonus, but my favorite part may have been how even the lovemaking included language like musical instruments keeping rhythm. Harlan Bennett does do relationships. After his husband left him when their son was four years old. He meets Ben Marshall who is a musician playing at his sister's bar. they end up spending time together in what both know is only a one night stand. But, then it is more. Harlan explains to Ben that he won't pursue a relationship until his son, Tanner, is in college. Ben is disappointed but understands. Of course, things don't never go to plan. Deja Vu All Over Again This was the first of two books I read in the same week on the exact same theme: Young openly gay man named Ben slides off the road in a vicious snowstorm and is almost killed until rescued by a cowboy in his mid 30s. In this one the cowboy brings him home and they spend the whole book trying to figure out how Ben can stay without running the risk of two broken hearts. (The other one is Andrew Grey's "Half a Cowboy." This one is different in two ways--it's a lot shorter and the cowboy involved (Harlan) has an eight year old son, Tanner, whose presence in Harlan's life makes him believe no other man would want to have a relationship with him. And so it goes. This is the fourth book in a series which is unique in that at least one of the MC's works on the gay rodeo circuit. It's a nice coda for a nice series and worth the effort.

Harlan is afraid of being hurt again. His husband of 7 yrs., Jason had left him and their son, Tanner while they had been out for the day. Ben is a musician who had come into town to play at The Hangtown Brewhouse along his way to the coast. Ben has been trying to find a purpose in his life since leaving his family's horse ranch and his band. Only once he has left Harlan and Tanner does Ben realize that he didn't know what he'd been looking for was them, a family. Sweet ending. Harlan is afraid of being hurt again. Harlan Bennett was abandoned by his husband, and now all he cares about is raising their son, Tanner… alone. But Ben Marshall has come to town with his good looks and his guitar and reawakened something in Harlan. Will Ben be able to convince Harlan that there is still room in his heart for a second chance at happiness? L.C. Chase knows how to write about cowboys and “A Song for Harlan” is a perfect example.

This one really punches you in the feels! All the feels. Great story, very good pacing. Good enough you don't even realize it's a novella. That is, until the ending comes on way too fast. That's the only reason for knocking off a star. Would have preferred a little more flushing out of Ben's routine and the start of their HEA before the epilogue started. Omg what a sweet book. I loved it so much. The two MCs, Ben and Harlan, got to my heart and I suffered with them. One hot cowboy, a musician with a sexy voice, who plays the guitar; hot sex, dogs and horses, yeah. And a cut kid, who sees more than the adults. Need to check out this series. I recommend this book.

Two totally adorable and sympathetic men meet by chance – and with more than a few sparks! – and both have to re-evaluate what they want in life and love. It all happens over a short period but the connection between Ben and Harlan is believable, undeniable, and captured my heart. It was an extra treat to see them settling into a family as well as enjoying their own attraction.

An M+M Cowboy Romance. A jilted rodeo cowboy with a 8-year-old son and a sexy country singer. Harlan’s older sister owns the bar where Ben is singing and plays matchmaker. I’ve read the first three books in this series but this one takes place in the off-season. It’s Tanner Harlan’s son who seals the deal but even the dogs love the new man in his life.

Short, snowbound with your one (OK, two) night stand story. Only right at the end is there any sight of any of the others from previous stories. Harlan and Ben have a steamy hook up, and then off in separate ways - until snow, truck and bend collide. It all comes right at the end, over breakfast pancakes!!

A fun read, but the threads of the story rely heavily on some pretty unlikely situations. I had to put aside my disbelief in order to enjoy the good parts. Erotica was a small part only, but seemed exaggerated as well.

This is a new-to-me author and I have to say I'm glad I took a chance. This lovely book was heart-felt and I loved that Harlan got his happy ending. A wonderful romance. I haven't read the previous books but I hope to pick them up. If you haven't, no fear, this book is a great stand-alone. This is a new-to-me author and I have to say I'm glad I took a chance. This is a sweet love story and I'm so glad I was able to get and read this. My heart felt for Harland trying to raise his son alone but wanted to smack him for using that as an excuse to keep himself isolated. Ben was just what Harland needed even if they didn't realize until the were apart. This is a sweet love story and I'm so glad I was able to get and read this.
