It talks about mental health, family and the changing ways we bring up children, relationships, the changing values and norms, the virtual social life we try to maintain and the fast paced life we all are trying to catch up with. I love how beautiful the entire book is starting from the cover. It's totally comforting to read something relatable, short yet insightful which expresses the thoughts of many in such few impactful lines. I appreciate the inclusion of the blank worksheets in between so that the reader can actually express their views after reading each poetry and short story. We can use this book like a journal. Thank you, author, for being so thoughtful. The most hard-hitting lines are about abuse, the girl child and the losing family values. One of the best 2021 reads! *Highlights: 👉 The sketches are perfect! 👉 This book might turn you into a good writer. Just fill up the empty journal pages 💌 I am planning to read this book now and then to get inspiration when I need it throughout the year. The book is designed for that I feel. So precious 💝

Danni brings creativity on the fore. His poems are instantaneous, quick, random and about anything and everything that comes to a person's mind. The things that make these works interesting are empty pages after each of the titles, calling upon the readers to pour their thoughts, short stories along with poems, occasionally, and also the randomness of the themes and issues that the poet has dealt with. You can expect very apparent language, mixed issues, random themes, no connection between this and that work and yet, a straight line of unity following you throughout the pages. Danni has done well with his lines, could do better with the representation, has done his best with the visual appeal with sketches and empty pages. Enjoyable, in one word!

Danni's poetry is displaying a variety of issues, themes, subjects and ideas. However, all of those are coming very much from the general life, everyday chores, and frequent emotions, feelings and thoughts experienced by commoners. In short lines, with simple words, Danni has been able to say a lot. Not only poetry the collection also has short stories and sketches. As a whole, I believe that this will impress the readers for sure. Danni's poetry is displaying a variety of issues, themes, subjects and ideas. Fireflies at 3 am is a fusion of art; a collection of poetry, short stories and sketches. The best part of the book is it's randomness which is constant throughout. And the idea that the author has come with - to leave a blank page after each title so the readers can also pour their randomness on it. How enticing it is. I thoroughly loved the concept Danni has come up with. Truly a good read. And I am sure that it will not go without making an impression upon the readers who read it... This book has many unique things but the most unique one that I would like others to know is that after each poem or story in the collection, the book invites your creativity... it has blank pages on which a reader can muse or write something he or she likes... I filled a few pages with my random thoughts that were, at times, inspired by what I read on the page before... Shoetry is a new name but old concept of offering a salad with various genres put together in one box. I recommend this book to those who enjoy books written in shoetry form and who like books that talk about tough topics. I am giving this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. Actually this was a surprising read for me!! I do not read poetry, nor do I typically like it, therefore I have avoided reading books in verse for years. But I decided to pick up this book just because it offers an interesting new genre "shoetry", but I’m so pleased I gave it a chance. This is a collection of stories and poetries absolutely everyone should experience. Highly Recommended to all the lovers of poetries written in a whole new and unique way.

Well, as the author of this book calls it 'shoetry', a combination of poems and short stories together in a collection... I would agree with Danni. It makes sense calling it what it is. Reading a plain genre might have been too trying... on a constant loop. And therefore, I truly admire what the author has done – offered poetry and short stories together and called it shoetry! :) Danni's writing, more of less, sounds emotive. He experiences, thinks, feels, imagines and writes his lines. Most of the time, his lines might connect with the readers. Fireflies at 3 am is a Shoetry collection, as the author calls it so, however, I don't completely agree with this. The book also has illustrations that enhance the visual and emotional appeal of poems and stories. Danni's effort as a poet and story writer is commendable. All the poems and stories are unique, varied in length and depth and have a fresh fragrance of emotions. I am absolutely in love with this short shoetry book. 'We', "Envy", 'Equal', 'The Last Lesson', 'Beaten' and 'The Nurse' are some of the poems that resonated with me the most. Among the short stories, 'The White Sofa' did touch deep. This exemplifies the need to enjoy moments, to let children explore their own places. Because what matters and is reminisced are those moments and not the materialistic pleasures. ••••• I would highly recommend this for any poetry reader, even those who haven't had a good time with poetry in a while. This will leave you with a novel feeling and renew you in ways you haven't imagined.

I was offered a version of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. When I first started this poetry collection, I was not a fan. The style was different than what I had expected and the poems were a bit rough around the edges. However, as I pushed through the collection I came to really appreciate the uniqueness of these poems and the style. It took a bit of getting used to, and could perhaps be worked on a bit to flow better, but overall i enjoyed it. There didn’t seem to be any theme connecting them together, which gave a bit of a random feel to the collection and made it more difficult to really get in the ‘mood’ of each poem. Overall, I enjoyed the collection and would be interested to read any future publications from this author. I really think they have potential, and they do really clever things with words which I admire.

Danni Thomas has made a wonderful attempt in his book by combining three different forms of art - poetry, short story and sketching. No doubt his poems and stories have wider vision, vast variety of themes of day-to-day life and are easily comprehendible, but I found sketches more talkative and powerful. Shoetry... the name confused me when I got this book... however, I quickly figured it out – poetry and short stories together make it shoetry. I liked most of the works by Danni as I read those. I also liked the sketches that the author has supplied with his texts. Moreover, I enjoyed the short stories that deal with emotional and humane issues we often interact... enjoy reading the book guys!

To be frank, Danni has been very subjective and he has boldly expressed what he things, feels and judges to be right. It is good. Creativity is fine in his works. He has been a little extra creative and called upon the readers to show their creativity by leaving empty pages for them to muse or write whatever they feel... that's exciting. I believe Dani is the founder of this genre on published papers, however I have seen a few amateur artists having written pieces with a similar style. All the topics are unique to the author, fresh and crisp, not read beforehand. Dani, the author, with his limited words, brain strikes the mind with marvelous imagery and understanding of fictional ideas. With the shortest of poems, even two liners, though found not many in the book, has the power to set a vision in your eyes. WHAT I LIKED ABOUT THE BOOK? • Less words make a lot of sense sometimes. And these words stay with you, quench your wanting of a safe space to went out. This book has been that for me. • All the poems have a rhyme pattern well thought upon. The rhythm is apt. • The author has touched a considerable number of topics in the book namely, compassion, passion, relationships, God, beliefs, lifestyle. No topic has repeated itself again, every page being a new journey to it’s readers. • The doodling is extremely peace provoking and easy to understand. Some pieces may have a place in your heart while some stay in your mind, both soothing your eyes. • The pieces that fall into ‘shoetry’ is a same or a similar thought written in both poetry and short story format, separately. How a thought can be molded so differently yet mean the same left me astonished every single time! • After every piece of writing, is a blank page that says, “Unbottle your emotions, Pen your thoughts, Let your feelings shine.” I personally enjoyed writing my thoughts on these pages, and I managed to write on almost all of them. It truly felt therapeutic and liberating. WHAT I DID NOT LIKE ABOUT THE BOOK? • The cover, to me the cover does little justice to this masterpiece work. I absolutely stand firm on the point that if the cover would have been thought upon with a more serious note, I would have rated it much better than I have now. • A piece or two were predictable to me, with a poor end or break in the rhyme scheme. MY TAKE ON THE AUTHOR – • The author likes to write his piece of poetry entirely as one metaphor. • In a few poems, the beginning and the closing lines have the same meaning, though demonstrating a different feeling altogether. This to me is absolutely genius! • The author is a firm believer of religion and God as there are considerable poems depicting the same. • A short story end with the sentence, “GOD IS A WOMAN”, which tells me that he is a feminist. This particular short story is one of my favorites. • He talks highly of cherishing the gift of life – true friends. • I love how he begins and ends a few topic on the same note. Like a punchline. • He has written considerable pieces on father-son relationships, which seem to be near to his heart. • He honors parenthood, especially motherhood a lot. • He has a good taste in observational writing. Special mention to each short story- extremely unpredictable, fresh and a happy read.

"Fireflies at 3 am" by Danni Thomas is a debut poetry and short stories collection combinedly forming a new genre (according to the author) called "Shoetry". There're a total of 63 poems and 13 short stories, the topics of which span around Danni's life experiences, stories that he has heard and his observations of various happenings around him. Each of Danni's writings seemed to be plain as pikestaff without any layering. His topics cover different aspects ranging from anything to everything. Each of Danni's writings seemed to be plain as pikestaff without any layering. His topics cover different aspects ranging from anything to everything. There's an existing trend that I figured out in his so called Shoetry-writing - there's a short story written for every 5th poem in the rank. However, maintaining the sanctity of the author's creation, I would humbly beg to differ from his point of naming his work as a new genre of writing- 'Shoetry'. A genre is a set of patterns that is determined by literary technique, its content, plot, setting, tone and character (to name a few) that makes the literary work interesting or complex or complete. But the book neither seemed interesting or complex or even complete to me! The ending is so vague and abrupt; throughout the book, the poems even failed to establish any connection with me. Thus, the writings form more of a repetitive pattern instead of a new-genre. I don't wish to contradict here with my already stated views that the book is plain and simple. However, the simplicity of the writing would have been justified if it was written from a child's perspective or by a child-author. I would like to admit that the author's thoughts and creativity behind every piece of writing is really appreciable but somehow didn't turn out to be satisfactory in its execution. Besides, the coolest thing about the book is its feature of blank pages, left out deliberately after every poem/short story, for the readers to pen down their thoughts. Myself being a great admirer of everything minimalistic, I absolutely loved the "minimalistic illustrations" on every single page of the book that perfectly sync with the writings. A handpicked few that I liked of all the writings in the book are - 'The Nurse', 'Wings', 'Glass Ceiling', 'The King' and '?'. 3/5⭐

Hallelujah! It’s finally here... Paperback! I bought a paperback this time & my time went pretty well with it. I am feeling great affection towards my life now. A happy face writing this review just because of this amazing book. It made my day special. Myself heard many times that few stories have power to feed you with self-love and inspiration . Even some poetry would give you nostalgia or vice versa. Finally with both Self-love and nostalgia here comes a wonderful artwork called "Shoetry", combin Hallelujah! It’s finally here... Paperback! It made my day special. Myself heard many times that few stories have power to feed you with self-love and inspiration . Even some poetry would give you nostalgia or vice versa. Finally with both Self-love and nostalgia here comes a wonderful artwork called "Shoetry", combine dazzling stories & delightful poems. Written by "Danni Thomas" is a writer and works in advertising business & product headlines. He had worked with big brands, made memorable ads and won international recognition for his work. He love to make stories like he did when he was just a child. Shoetry is a medium conveying many great memories & notions of life in a short, simple & sweetest way. Quality of this book is just as smooth as rose petal. The concept of simplicity makes it even more beautiful. Author did an awesome work on interactive words allowing him to share his thoughts. Fireflies at 3 am has 181 pages consisting 13 short stories along with 70 Poems. It's hardly an hour read but will fill your heart with emotions. I have never seen such style of writing before. Each poem has an artwork, sketches are mediators for the person to connect with words. I enjoyed meeting cherish moments i have lived via this book. Life is beautiful and we are busy making ourselves tough. Book will relax your fuzzy brain. Complete narrative part of the book is brilliant. Short stories are motivating, heart touching, some with happiness and some with reminiscence. I am lucky to come across such genre of written artwork. The best part is you can use this book not only as a Shoetry to read but also as a notebook to write. Every alternate page kept blank for a reader to write their own thoughts with a beautiful note that says "Unbottle your emotions, Pen your thoughts, Let your feelings shine". Recommended for all

💌Through this book, Danni Thomas gave birth to a new genre of writing, ‘Shoetry’. A very unique yet beautiful genre where you will enjoy the combination of poetry and the ebb of stories together at one place. As i read the "Contents" of this book, I realised this book is something that i should read at 3am midnight because every title mentioned in the contents is relatable to our life and I really needed a clear and free mind to go through this book. 💌The author has beautifully expressed his thoughts and perspectives on various important and senstive topics like mental health, family problems, relationship, ambition, freedom, the changing values and our culture. The best part of this book is, there is a blank page after every poetry where we readers can unbottle our emotions and thoughts. This is really impressive and helpful, through this we will be able to pen down our own thoughts. 💌Everything is very beautifully portrayed in the book, it is a kind of book that can easily build a connection with the readers. Also, the illustrations attached to every poetry is beautiful and adding a deep connection and matching with the content of that Poetry. Its a short read but very deep and meaningful, I was able to relate to so many poems. I found some deep meanings and messages behind every poem. My favourite are : 1) "OMG" - here the innocence of a child has been described beautifully. 2) "The Walk" - here bonding of a father and child and how time changes the relationship is described which is really emotional. 3) "WE" - Best one, because of really deep message. Emotional yet true. 💌There are so many poems I want to share but I want you all to grab this beautiful piece of work and read on your own, heal your heart, let your emotions out and let your feelings shine. I really want to recommend this book to everyone.

Then, I read the preface (Yes, I am one of those people who read preface too), which was hilarious. Then, I flipped the book to read the blurb which was accompanied by Author's information. Then, I read the preface (Yes, I am one of those people who read preface too), which was hilarious. Then, I flipped the book to read the blurb which was accompanied by Author's information. And in the blurb I found it - SHOETRY : It is a combination of short stories and poetry. Then I read the book in one sitting, yes you read it correctly, in one sitting, it took me close to an hour to finish this lovely shoetry collection. The author, Danni Thomas has truly mastered the art of telling a story in least words possible. The poems tell a story and sometimes they are accompanied by short story which is based on the same concept as the poem. My favourites are the poem OMG and the short story by the same name, I found it cute and filled with innocence and I liked how the short story ended with "And God was a Woman!" Another one which I liked was Wings, it portrays a lovely father - daughter relationship. Actually, I liked them all and I just couldn't put the book down which made me read it in one sitting and I was so engrossed that it barely took me an hour to read it. I would recommend it to all the readers especially the ones who have never read poetry, because hey! it's shoetry, the best of both worlds.
