What an adorable winter story! Kids and parents alike will be delighted by everything Wendy sees as she goes for a walk on a snowy day, as well as the beautiful illustrations that accompany the text. The story is engaging for young children, and stuffed full of chances to hear and practice the early developing speech sounds: p, b, m, and w. I bought this book after seeing the author post online about how it was written with speech in mind. My youngest child has a speech issue and with masks being a major part of his younger years, it's become more complicated to offer him the opportunity to work out the sounds and improve his verbal skills. Over the two pages, adults can read techniques of how they can help their children work their mouths to focus on the words as children mimic the adult readers or even as they attempt to read the book themselves. These last two pages also include website links for more videos and online resources to aid adults in assisting their children with strengthening their P, B, M, and W sounds. I love this book so much that I'm donating one to my child's classroom as well as looking forward to purchasing the next in the series. I highly recommend 'Wendy's Winter Walk.'

This is an excellent book for children learning to read, who need speech sound support, and for those who just enjoy a fun interactive story! From the perspective of an educator Wendy’s Winter Walk is a great speech oriented/captivating story. It teaches the child to produce the sound w/out creating frustration. The story gives the child opportunities to repeat the sounds, tells them how to practice the sound, even telling them how to form their lips. It presents an excellent mix of sounds. When I shared the story with my speech pathologist friend she was really excited about it because so many books are just overly repetitive of the focus sounds and she loved that this book gives appropriate opportunities to practice the sounds w/out boring the child. From the perspective of a parent, I loved that my child had fun with the book! He especially enjoyed trying to whistle. Both my son and I also loved the artwork! We both hope for more stories in the series.

Wonderful book for learning sounds! Sweet story, that goes through some a snow time exploration outdoors and really goes out of its way to include the 4 sounds being focused on. For example, here's a line that includes multiple P, B, M, and W uses: "'Bye!' We say to my puppy, Pepper. Pepper wags his tail and waits in his warm, blue, bed." The whole book is structured in this way, and really tries to tell a story that is both entertaining for the kids, and educational at the same time. The only th Wonderful book for learning sounds! The only thing I could possibly add to something like this would be a faint, colored, underline to the letters emphasized to remind parents that they should enunciate those sounds more clearly.

I loved the illustrations, and the sweet story of Wendy and her Winter Walk. I bought the book for my grandchildren and after reading it I purchased a second book for my 5 year old granddaughter’s kindergarten classroom. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

This is an excellent book for beginning readers and for parents to read with young children who are still learning to recognize letters and match them with their sounds. The illustrations are colorful and beautifully done. The book employs the same phonics-teaching methods that have proved so successful on Sesame Street and other educational reading-based TV shows. I highly recommend this book for parents with preschoolers.

Fun and Helpful This book is a playful and engaging way to get little kids practicing speech sounds they may have trouble with. My oldest had some difficulty with her W-sounds and this would have been great for her. The illustrations are soft and charming and the story is gentle and fun.
