Carrick better get everything he deserves. The male has been put through enough and needs to be freaking happy!!

But she has to be careful who she trusts. “For there to be betrayal, there would have to have been trust first.” ― Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games The suspense, intrigue and action are important factors in the story’s enjoyments, I was absorbed from start to finish. But it was Carrick and Finley’s smoldering and fated relationship that keeps evolving and burrowing in my heart that is the real magic in this already outstanding series. “Every time you walk into a room after being apart, it’s my soul that recognizes you.” A Battle of Blood and Stone is book #4 of Chronicles of the Stone Veil series by Sawyer Bennett who expertly recaps events from the previous books in case you missed it, but it’s recommended to read them in order. It is told from both points of view leaning towards the heroine’s side and ends with a massive cliffhanger. The author continues to masterfully weave together story that ensnared my attention immediately and kept me enthralled until the very end. I really enjoyed how the soul connection between Carrick and Finely is further illustrated within these pages. I just love the cast of characters and the unique way each one adds to the story. The intensity is dialed up as things are coming to a head with Kymaris and her diabolical plans. Finely, Carrick, and their gang are engrossed in strategical planning and must embark on some adventures that will hopefully aid in their quest to stop Kymaris. While I was able to deduce some of the twists, I found myself shocked with a few of the revelations. Trust is challenged. Betrayals occur. And an epic battle lays ahead. I found this book to be a thrilling read and thoroughly enjoyed the action sequences, the romantic aspect, and the overall story. The character development and plot progression is well thought out and I am most curious to see how everything is going to play out. I voluntarily read an early version of this novel. All thoughts and options are entirely my own.

"I just need you to know that you might need to continue on without me and if I don't find you in this lifetime, I'll damn sure do it in the next." The love between Carrick and Finley is so blindingly beautiful. I'm praying that they have a HEA that will last for eternity. Seriously, I was in swoon city with these two. The difference in Carrick's demeanour from the very first book to the current one is astounding. Once you know the background to their story, it's all understandable. This author has created a stunning world and awesome story that I'm absolutely hooked! Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-re...

The mission now? Find the Blood Stone. Book four hits the ground running and doesn’t stop until the end, and even then, leaves us wanting more. It’s been two weeks since the God Rune, snatched Carrick away from Finley. Learning that she is Carrick’s reincarnated love who is continuously snatched from his lifetime after time over centuries due to a curse Rune placed upon him has her reeling, and there was no chance for her to ask questions before Carrick was taken. Although she’s worried for and misses Carrick terribly, the prophecy will still occur, and there’s still much work to be done so Finley continues to team with Maddox, Zaid, Rainey and Myles to learn all they can about Kymaris’ plans. The “Scooby-Gang”, has also been working with Zaid’s father, Boral (who everyone is skeptical of, but he could prove to be very helpful). Once Carrick returns, he gives Finley the background on her former lives and what happened between the two of them. Finley and Carrick aren’t the only two who has developments in relationships. With Carrick missing, Finley and Zaid’s relationship also grows, and we see a different side of Zaid as well. I’ve like Zaid from the beginning, but this book really gave my heart a soft spot for him. His commitment and dedication to Finley was no longer due to his loyalty to Carrick. Finley has become family to him. As the time grows closer for Kymaris’ ritual to take place, Carrick realizes they really need to kick into high gear to make sure Finley is as prepared as she can be. While she’s been training tirelessly, she still needs more, so Carrick enlists the one person no one expects, Deandra who proves to be more helpful than Finley thought. There’s also Finley’s determination to connect with her sister, Zora, in the underground which she does manage to do again, but Zora is very resistant to Finley and wants nothing to do with her. We also get a glimpse of Lucien’s past which is directly related to the Blood Stone needed to help defeat Kymaris. The group obtains the Blood Stone at a costly price, and then goes to drastic measures to slow Kymaris down which means they must all separate and basically go into hiding to stay safe. While in hiding, Finley learns that while her team has formed unlikely alliances, so has Kymaris. Unfortunately for Finley, she learns of this alliance a little too late and can only hope that Carrick can come to her rescue. With each book, this story truly gets better and better, and leads to more and more questions. I’m curious about Finley’s past lives, was she a twin in each life? If not, was it intentional that she was a twin in this life? So many other backgrounds were given, does this mean there might be novellas or spin off series? Especially for Lucien. Will Ronan and Eilana show up in the fourth book? Will there be more to their story? What more will we learn about Zora; will she have a story of her own? I’m almost sad the last book is coming up because I don’t want it to end. I mentioned before about previous books not focusing so much on the relationship of Carrick and Finley and how it didn’t bother me, but I’m so glad it finally came to light. The evolution and the buildup of Finley and Carrick’s love is beautifully told and written.

The team is facing off against a wraith and Finley is still getting a hold of her powers. Maddox is more carefree than Carrick is with Finley. He asks her to be bait after all and Finley being Finley, goes along with it. Pays off in the end but you have to wonder what goes on in their heads here. Apparently Carrick is off on a mission and has yet to come back according to Maddox’s findings. Finley is angry with him, dropping the bombshell of being his lover reincarnated (plenty of times) and then not having reached out. She doesn’t know if any of her feelings towards him are actually real or not and she needs him there to talk it through. Rune took Carrick only to torture him, body and soul. He has him in an Underworld look alike hauling rocks and punishing him for any that fall. Completely pointless; nothing more than keeping him from where he wants to be. He will endure it all though, to make Rune think he isn’t affected. However, one other god deems it enough and sends Carrick back to earth. Since Finley is reincarnated many times, Carrick offers to take her to the Hall of Histories to show her her past lives. At that moment Finley realizes that this overseer, Temen, can give them an answer; Who wrote the Libri Mysteria. Lucien just wasn’t who they were expecting. They pull in Boral, Zaid’s father, into the team more. He is their spy and Finley’s chance at rescuing Zora, her sister, from the underworld. Finley trusts him most out of the group and I can’t figure out if it is because she truly believes him or if it’s because she lost her father and doesn’t want the same for Zaid. Finley also needs to master her gifts. There is no knowing what she can actually do but they manage to find someone and bring them in to help her figure them out. A little surprise there! Very effective as well. Once she figured out what she could do, the team began to plan the extraction of the chalice and blood stone to keep it from Kymaris. I have to wonder if it’s worth the loss they may have bore. There is one person that Finley will not lose though and that is Zora. She’s tried contacting her with very small benefit to herself but she refuses to give up. Even when Zora gives her no inclination she actually cares much less even wants to leave where she’s been for the past 28 years. It comes to light that the group has been betrayed and Carrick takes some matters into his own hands. They can only wonder if Boral did it on purpose or if it was tortured out of him. The way this one ends truly makes you wonder about these characters and their relationships to each other. How even time might make you think someone is loyal but they’re just biding their time waiting for the perfect moment. I’m still not Team Farrick. I don’t like them together and Finley still annoys me with her thinking she knows best and that things should be her way. I understand she’s scared and her world has turned upside down but have a little common sense! Carrick is still not a favorite, for someone who’s long lost love has come back he doesn’t treat her very nicely. Granted he has had plenty of time with her but still... I’m still team Maddox though!

I suppose there could be spin-off books, though, depending on what happens in book five. I guess I will find out soon enough! In the previous books we met Finley, her friends, her twin sister, Carrick and many others. We learned that Finley is instrumental in thwarting a dark fae queen as both are mentioned in a prophecy. We learned the myth of the world with Dark and Light, Fae, Daemon, Gods, and demigods. We are provided with a romance or two that continue through the series, Finley learns more about who she is and works on getting stronger while learning new skills, and we go along for the ride as Finley, Carrick and the rest work toward preparing for their part(s) in the prophetic happenings that will take place. The series has all the elements requires of required of an excellent urban fantasy and I am hooked. What I liked: * Finley: strong, independent, human, coming to terms with her situation and what is expected of her, falling deeper in love with her soul mate Carrick, and I like her. * Carrick: demigod, immortal, in deep abiding love with Finley, dedicated to assisting Finley succeed when she deals with the prophecy, hopeful, strong, stalwart, HOT. * Lucien and Maddox: Carrick’s demigod brothers…keep wondering if they might get stories of their own in the future. * Zaid: mixed breed paranormal with a murky past and evil father – he is definitely growing on me. * Rainey and Miles: Finley’s friends, in love, part of the team though not as active as in previous books. * The visit to the Hall of Histories * The battle for the Blood Stone * That I was drawn in, felt part of the story, and found myself rooting for the good guys * Zora: though taciturn and distant I hope that she can be saved from the underworld * Getting to see characters from previous books * The way the characters are bonding as they prepare for what is to come * The growing relationship between Carrick and Finley, the strength of their love, and the way they communicate – there is a nice balance between them * The scene where Finley is helped to access her “powers” * Wondering how Finley will get out of the situation she finds herself in at the end of this book What I didn’t like: * Not knowing what happened to a few characters in this book…they might be okay OR might be gone forever. * The baddies…including the new one that was revealed in a twist near the end of the story * The ending…but then I was expecting it to have a cliffhanger as each of the previous books had one, too. s Did I enjoy this book? It leaves you desperately wanting Rune to forget about his grudge and let Carrick live a normal life. While Carrick is gone, the gang must continue their quest to end Kymaris’s plan. Oh Finley, I just love her so much. Her fierce personality and determination throughout all of this turmoil is admirable. She takes her destiny in stride even thought it’ll end with her great sacrifice. Finley, Maddox, Lucian, Rainey, Miles, Carrick go on a quest for the Blood Stone as it holds immense power. The problem is, getting the stone is extremely difficult. Get ready for an epic battle. Finley is finally getting more comfortable with her powers as she gets unlikely assistance to help her do so. A battle ensues for the stone that had me on the edge of my seat. Carrick is sweeter than ever proving to us just how deep his love for Finley is. Carrick would do anything for her. Finley, as strong as stubborn as ever is still on her quest to rescue her twin sister Zora from the underworld. We get so much closer to all of these revelations and just as things are getting ready to end. We know it’s too good to be true. We have an underlying feeling that something isn’t right. I’m rooting hard for Carrick and Finley in this one. Their relationship continues to progress as Finely learns more about her past lives bringing her and Carrick even closer together. Since the prophecy essentially promises their doom, I wonder if somehow, we can get a happy ending out of this that doesn’t include Finley’s death. One can hope. Find out what happens in this fourth installment of the journey to save the world. One more book as we finally get the epic conclusion. Can’t wait to see how these ends! This is an excellent series by such a talented writer. I love the way Sawyer writes the voice of Finley making her strong and vulnerable. She writes Carrick making him indestructible yet soft and loving. She’s so talented! I voluntarily read an early version of this novel. All thoughts and options are entirely my own.

I'm trying not to scream because I have to wait a few more days to get an early copy of the final book. Let me just tell you, the sex is hot, the antagonist is hotter, and the fights are better. I know she is saving the best for the last book, and I'm not sure how it is going to end. The scrappy little band of friends begin to fight back and learn more and more about how Kymaris is planning to open up the Underworld and why. It is not pretty my friends. There is a lot of death involved. But you know, demons don't care! Finley and Carrick put all their faith in one another and learn to work harder together and to survive on their own. The Gods are in the middle of everything, just when you need one of the demi-gods, they are taken away to places unknown and the rest of the band has to figure out how to fill the whole on their team. Finley also gets a better look at her sister who's stuck in the Underworld and keeps trying to convince her she does care. But when a sole has been that mistreated and starved for kindness, it's hard to convince there is good in the world. Finley is barely holding it together as she realizes she's going to die again on Carrick and may not save the world as she knows it. The real surprise has been from Zaid and his father in this book. There is an unlikely pair who by the end show us bad can turn good with enough prodding and motivation. There is a super big cliffhanger on this one so I'm not going to spoil it because it has to do with Zaid's father and a few other characters. Just know you are going to be so mad at Sawyer that these aren't publishing all at once. I know the last book won't let me down, but I really just need to get to the end and see how it all turns out. What I need from the last one...Do Rainey and Quinn get married finally? Does Zaid find his father and make up? Does Carrick break the curse? Does Finley decide to be immortal? Which Gods are not playing fair? Who created the prophecy? Oh god, and so much more!!! I'm giving this a 4.5 of 5 because of the cliffhanger and because there was a little twist I figured out way to early in this book that she waited until the end to reveal. So Sawyer, thanks for nothing. I need that last book!!!!

I am totally obsessed with this series. If you are a fan of adult fantasies featuring fae and demons, then this is a must read series for you. And now is the perfect time to pick up the books if you are new to the series because the fifth and final book is set to release on May 4, 2021! If you love to binge read, this is a great series for you to pick up. I really have enjoyed it and I am desperate for the last book. A Battle of Blood and Stone picks up right where The Evolution of Fae and Gods left off, on that heck of a cliffhanger. View Spoiler » Getting the Blood Stone and trying to figure out a way to defeat Kymaris is what this whole installment is about. I do have to say that for the first time in all four of the books, I felt like the plot in this one dragged a bit. It kind of felt like filler. I wanted more romance, or more action. More something. I was interested in learning about the Blood Stone and I am still super into the series, but this was probably my least favorite book so far. I know it is all culminating into a fantastic ending installment and I still loved this book, just maybe not quite as much as the first three. Like with the past books, most of the chapters are from still from Finley’s point of view, but every once in a while we will get a Carrick chapter. I love the Carrick chapters most of all, and I always looking for more of them. I am so invested in these characters and them beating the prophecy. I need the next book because I need to see how they will work their way out of this situation, and I want more Finley and Carrick. I just love the two of them so much! I am hoping for victory and romance in the final installment because Finley and Carrick deserve it! Bottom line: Fans of fantasies featuring light and dark fae set in our world will devour the Chronicles of the Stone Veil. It is one of my favorite series of 2021 so far. I am split between wanting to devour book 5 right now, and not wanting this series to end! But either way, more people need to read this series. It is fantastic!

Auch! Betrayal hurts but this… I did NOT see this one coming. I was waiting for a couple of others to betray Carrick and Finley, but this son of a gun came out of nowhere. Sorry, I just jumped to the end :) Since I finished the book, I am thinking back and try to see if any indications were giving signals of this betrayal. But I cannot pinpoint anything. Let me dial it back and start from the beginning. While Kymaris, Queen of Underworld, gaining power with every passing minute, thanks to the intervention of the Gods, Finley’s team constantly losing team members, first Carrick and then Maddox. Yeah, it is for a short period may be but doom is near. So seriously, STOP meddling and let the prophecy gang do their thing :) Since Carrick is gone for two weeks, thanks to Rune and his selfishness, some of the plans regarding the retrieval of the bloodstone came to a stop. Prophecy gang doesn’t sit around and wait for Carrick but what they can do without him is a bit limited. While the time for Kymaris’s ritual getting closer, Finley is doing everything she can to develop her powers so that she will have a chance against Kymaris. After Carrick’s return, he has an idea to give Finley the right motivation to push through her hold-ups. Annnndddd that motivation is no one other than Princess Deadra. Shocking right? I never thought Deadra will help Finley with anything. But Carrick being Carrick, finds the right incentive to lure Deadra in. Deadra helps Finley to understand and overcome her hold-ups. Surprisingly, after this book, I don’t hate Deadra as much as I did before. As for Finley, I admire her tenacious attitude and also love how she doesn’t lose hope in people, especially Boral and Zora, prophecy, and love. It was also great to see how Finley and Zaid’s relationship evolved. Since the beginning, Zaid was there to support Finley because of his loyalty to Carrick but with this book, you clearly see that he is there because of Finley, not Carrick. There are also new revelations about the team members but Lucien was the most intriguing one for me. With all the things we learned about Lucien, I think he at least needs a novella if not a whole book or series for himself. It feels like Lucien, Micah, and Charmeine trio have lots to offer. This also made me super curious about Maddox and his past as well so maybe (hopefully) we can get some inside scoop on him as well. Also, I am still waiting to see more of Eliana and Ronan and hopefully, we will get to see them in the last book. This series is getting better and better with each book and keeps me on my toes. I cannot wait to see how everything will be laid out at the end. Even though I am constantly waiting for the last book of the series so that finally we get everything out in the open, I am not ready for this series to be over. So PLEASE Ms. Bennett can you write some more books or novellas so that we don’t have to let go of the hot demi-gods and the Scooby Gang :) P.S. If I was all over the place with this review, sorry about that. I wanted to give you as much as I can without the spoilers so I might’ve jump one to another :) Would I recommend this book: Yes Would I re-read this book: Yes Would I read future books by this author: Yes e-ARC kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. SOME BACKGROUND: All of her life Finley Porter has been treated for hallucinations but days before her twenty-eighth birthday Finley is pulled into a world of the Light and Dark Fae by a man who stirs something deep within our story line heroine. An end of the world prophecy declares our heroine the savior, and in this Finley struggles with her fated destiny. As the gods watch the prophecy play out, some take it upon themselves to interfere where they do not belong. Told from first person perspective (Finley) and third person (Carrick) A BATTLE OF BLOOD AND STONE picks up immediately after the events and cliff hanger of book three wherein Carrick remains missing, and Finley continues to prepare for her role and fated destiny. Struggling to remain under the protection of Demi-gods and daemons, Finley is desperate to locate the the ‘Blood Stone’ purported to give the user immortal powers but a desperation brought about in an effort to keep the stone out of the hands of the Dark Fae. As Finley and Carrick, Carrick’s brothers Maddox and Lucien, and daemons Boral and Zaid head to a magical island to retrieve the missing stone, lives are lost, and our intrepid ‘Scooby gang’ is no further ahead but falling farther behind. Like the previous instalments, A BATTLE OF BLOOD AND STONE is a complex, detailed and riveting entry in Sawyer Bennett’s Chronicles of the Stone Veil. As the prophecy begins to take shape, Finley is desperate to reach into the Underworld, in an effort to make contact with someone from her past. Sawyer Bennett pulls the reader into an exciting and wonderful story line of revelations, betrayal and secrets, power and control that ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned. www.thereadingcafe.com

Carrick is still broody, but once you understand him, the broodiness makes so much more sense. He has had an incredibly long, hard existence. I did like how he wanted to trust a little more, love harder, and you were able to see him really get into hunting of the prophecy’s conclusion. Finally, you have Finley, who is still wanting to free her sister, figure out her role in the prophecy and love Carrick as much as she can. I enjoyed this story, but it wasn’t as full of the action. Instead, it was more drawn out than the previous books. While I can understand needing some of the information, this book felt more drawn out and maybe could’ve been mixed in with book three, so that book four was the conclusion. However, I say that without having read the conclusion yet, so maybe I’ll change my mind once I have. Reviewers received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

Working with her nemesis, the Scooby Gang (her mortal friends), her immortal friends, and the love of her life-Carrick, Finley is running out of time as Kymaris is gaining strength before the new moon and the prophecy comes to fruition. The gang is searching for an ancient relic, the Blood Stone, a relic that they hope has the power to help in their fight. Everyone is focused on getting the stone, but will it be enough to defeat what's coming? There are so many questions left to answer before we get to the final book, but I'm excited to finish this series and answer all of my questions. Finley works on her recently discovered powers while spending every moment she can with Carrick. Since she discovered she is his reincarnated love she's dealing with those feelings along with everything else that's landed upon her shoulders. I have to say this part of the story, where they reconnect as lovers and soulmates is so bittersweet. The change in Carrick from book one is beautiful as well as Finley, she's more grounded and focused. I love how these two are so closely connected and complete each other in a deep level. How they end up and where their love story goes next is certainly what I'm anticipating the most, but of course how they save the world is a very close second. The fourth book in this amazing series is gaining momentum and we are down to only one left. Finley and all of her friends are reaching the end. I'm excited to see how it all plays out.

While they are there, they get a lead on The Blood Stone.....they know who knows where it is and enlists their help in getting it. The group is able to capture The Blood Stone, but not without losses. Now it has become critical that The Blood Stone is kept from Kymaris. As Finley continues to try and unlock her magical powers, she finds help from an unlikely source but it actually works. Just when it looks like their plan is starting to fall into place, they find out that Kymaris knows more than they thought and they quickly change their plans. Finley and Zaid head to Faere to hide with The Blood Stone but are quickly greeted by an unexpected guest. The next thing Finley knows is that she is being swept away to the least likely place she ever expected to be not knowing what will happen next! Yep, another cliffhanger! I am loving this story! I find myself rooting for all of these characters and I cannot wait to see how this series ends. I think I am in love with Carrick! The love he has for Finley is so pure and perfect and I can't wait to see if they get their happy ending.

Blurb: Another day, another step closer to Hell on Earth being unleashed. With every piece that falls into place for the queen of the Underworld, Kymaris gains strength and power that will make it more difficult to defeat her when the time comes. It feels as if we’re in a desperate race to get just one step ahead of her, but my demise feels closer than it ever has before with still so much to do. The first order of business is to unlock the angelic powers with which I was gifted at birth, and Carrick insists on getting help from my archnemesis to do so. Yes, I have to save the world, but my priority has now become rescuing my sister from the Underworld. While there are many questions still to be answered about my long-lost twin, I know I will not win this battle without her by my side. In the midst of all the doom and gloom, Carrick has become my beacon of shining light. Our connection unimaginable, my heart recognizes his as the other half of its whole. Inexplicable and deeper than one could ever imagine, the love I hold for him is forged by destiny, however ill-fated it may turn out to be. And those are the feelings I must hold close…to keep me going. Because a painful lesson is on the horizon—betrayal never comes from your enemies. A Battle of Blood and Stone is book four of the Chronicles of the Stone Veil series and is best enjoyed if read in series order.

The team is on the hunt for the blood stone with the demi-god brothers leading the way with an annihilator (yeah, Titus returns). a daemon, a dark Fae and Finley rounding out the group that heads to a dark realm to snatch the blood stone. A mission fraught with sorry as things go awry. Meanwhile, Kymaris is moving forward with her plans for world domination and is close to having all her pieces in place. The ending moves fast with tons of action as the team acts to thwart Kymaris and keep everyone safe. Alas, it doesn't work and as usually Finley is in the middle of the chaos. On a sorta good note, Finley makes contact with her twin, Zora and hopes to save her from the Underworld. I'm hoping one of Carrick's hunky brothers will help in that regard and we'll have another great adventure and sexy romance in the future. We're coming down to the wire with the prophecy. Will Finley save the world? Will she and Carrick get their happy ending or will god Rune enact his curse again? She’s been known to make stupid and childish decisions, not here though. Her situation has to do with the betrayal I spoke of earlier. One of the things I’m struggling with in this story is the chemistry between Finley and Carrick. It’s not consistent for me. Sometimes I feel their connection, their centuries of finding each other over and over again. Other times I feel more like they’re really, really good friends. Being a HUGE fan of this author, and finding her to almost always be right on the nose with the chemistry between her characters, it’s really throwing me for a loop. I’m trying to remember to look at this tale as a paranormal fantasy first and foremost, and a romance secondarily. The more important story is the quest Finley and her companions are on to save the world for humans. When it comes to Carrick and his brothers and the things they have been through, I’m really hoping the author has another couple of series in mind so they can find their own destinies. And when we’re talking the world building and the actual story of Finley and her sister, I’m loving it all. I’m fully invested in the journey of this ragtag group of humans and immortals. Danger and chaos are coming their way and they definitely can feel it. This fourth installment kept me on my toes, this combination of action, suspense and romance totally worked. Finley and Carrick made me swoon so hard it hurts. A love that defies time and space, transcendent, so beautifully transcribed. I appreciated to see how deep their connection was, sharing without holding back any fears, honesty, challenging and caring. Just couple goals. I was totally hooked from the start. The author managed to pull me in gradually and transported me into a fantastic world about gods, faes, demons and magic as much frightening as enchanting. In their quest that felt like a race against time, Finley had to push her limits if she wanted to win against the evil forces coming their way. A weight on her shoulders she accepted, a fate she embraced but raising so many questions about its significance and her future with Carrick. Each installment gradually steps to another level, adding new pieces to this puzzle when your friends can be your enemies and vice versa, giving more depth to the characters. That is not the kind of story to stagnate, it is constantly evolving as the author introduces subtlety new aspects and information, making me crave for more. I loved how each ending has its mind-blowing effect. Next book, please!!!!

Rating: 4.5 Stars Finley has really grown since the first book – good reason to not start the series here. The group, as a whole, is still trying to figure out what’s going on. I had a hard time figuring out why we only get to hear Finley’s point of view but I think that I finally figured it out. In my opinion it’s because of how important she is to what’s happening and her connection to it all. There are a lot of secondary characters that help her move this story along. We rely on her to give us how she feels about them – friend or foe. She needs all the right people around her to accomplish her mission. The author’s good at giving us plenty of action and suspense. It was interesting to watch all of Finley’s emotions and to see what all the other characters show. Just like how it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a group to overcome what has yet to happen. They are here to get answers to the questions that have developed over the previous three books. And they also help to lead us to one last cliffhanger. Which leaves me with mixed emotions. The author has done such a good job at getting her readers involved in a series like nothing they may have read before. Each book that comes out is like a steppingstone to the next. In this case, we already have the feeling that the next will hold all the answers as well as the ending. And that in a way is bittersweet. I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

A Battle Of Blood and Stone is the amazingly gripping and action-packed read by Sawyer Bennett. This series has continuously kept my interest, and it’s been an absolute delight getting to immerse myself in a fictional world where there’s a mixture of good vs evil, and lots of weird and wonderful goings on. This is the fourth book in the Chronicles of the Stone Veil Series, and I have avidly read each one to keep up to date with the adventures of Finley and her sidekick Carrick. If you are a romance lover, you will be captivated and kept on your toes with the budding relationship between Finley and Carrick. But if you love action-packed and fast-paced reads which have a unique plot and feel to them, then this book and series will be for you. Finley and her team are determined to break the prophecy and defeat the Queen of the underworld Kymaris. Finley needs to tap into the gifts she was given at birth, but in order to do so, she needs to embark upon a journey to reconnect with her long lost twin sister. Bennett has written a truly imaginative series, and with each book comes characters which intrigue you just as much as Finley and Carrick. Like all of these books, there is a cliffhanger which will make you die to read the final instalment. I know I for one cannot wait! This is an excellent read but to get the full enjoyment and feel of events you will need to read books 1,2 and 3. Each book takes you one step closer to what you know and sense will be an incredible finale. The perfect book for lovers of fantasy, romance and suspenseful action stories.

    Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

Trying to do an independent review of what amounts to only one-fifth of a saga is difficult, as each successive book just adds to the whole of this series. With every installment, this story gets better and better. The more we know about each of the characters, the more fascinating and complex they become, and I have a hard time viewing any of the characters in the same way I did when I first met them. There is so much more to each of them than it originally appeared, and they each add such depth to what is amounting to an epic story, spanning millennia. In this penultimate book of the series, Carrick and Finley face their most dangerous tasks yet, knowing that their greatest challenge, having Finley battle the Queen of the Underworld, is still yet to come. I’ve been fascinated, trying to see who will remain loyal, who will betray the Scooby Gang, and what tricks the gods have up their sleeves to throw a wrench in the plans that are being made to save the world from ultimate destruction by the demons and dark fae. This series really has it all. It has an epic quest, battles, magic, betrayal, loyalty. And at its core, it has a love that has spanned the ages, never waning or faltering, that has me swooning with adoration for Carrick and Finley, and those that have stood by their side. Even those that don’t typically find paranormal romance to be their cup of tea need to give this series a try. It is escapism at its finest and an enduring romance at its best. Battle of Blood and Stone (Chronicles of The Stone Veil # 4) by Sawyer Bennett. I have to say that when I first started this series I was leery as to how I was going to feel about this story. However after each book I am loving this series more and more and I can't wait for the next book. The story picks up with Carrick still MIA. Finley is trying her best to keep things going but is struggling without Carrick. They still have to do what they can to find out how to defeat Kymaris. She also needs to deal with the revelation of who she is to Carrick and her feelings towards him. I don't want to give anything away about the story but I do want to say is hold on because you are getting ready to go on the ride of a lifetime.  As Finley tries to learn more about her powers and how to use them an unexpected person is brought in to help her. At the same time others are brought in to help with the quest. The question is who can they trust and who will betray them. What you think is not always what happens. The surprises just keep coming. The ending I didn't see coming and it was a clutch the pearls moment.  An OMG that will have everyone ready to fall out or scream. This story was really good from the beginning to the end. I can say I am so sick of the gods. They have a lot of explaining to do. So looking forward to the next book. Some decisions need to be made and I am curious what will they do. 5 stars for me.
