They find the goats huddled together in a terrified group and Nathan lying face up beneath the Live Oak trees, Why would someone kill Nathan King? The peace of a perfect November afternoon is shattered when Agatha hears the frantic bleating of goats across the river from her B&B. Agatha kayaks over with retired detective Tony and two guests--Bishop Henry and his wife Emma. I enjoyed this cozy mystery so much! Dead Broke is book two in the series, but I think readers could jump in and enjoy this book even if they haven’t read book one, Dead Wrong. This cozy mystery grabbed me in from the beginning. This novel by Vannetta Chapman grabbed my attention from the beginning till the end. I enjoyed this tale and read it in a day, that’s how amazing the story is. One great Vannetta Chapman series meets another! What a surprise to read this second book in one of many great series by a favorite author and find 2 beloved characters from another of her series, “The Amish Bishop series”! I am unsure how reading this book would be for someone who hasn’t read the other series, or if I would have appreciated it as much if I’d not read them. Another exciting installment in the life of Agatha's Amish B&B! No matter how hard she tries, she can't have peace and quiet in her life without some trouble thrown in here and there. This new series by Vannetta Chapman is quite enjoyable. This is the second book and I find myself quite invested in the characters of this small Texas town. This mystery has even more twists and turns than the first, and the relationships between the characters continue to build. Looking forward to book #3.

I read the first book and so happy I read this one too! Love this author's writings, no matter which genre she writes, Amish romance, mystery or Dystopian. She is amazing. Such a fun and cozy mystery! I love the B&B theme and it is a comfortable yet very engaging mystery. The characters are fun, including Fonzi the cat. I actually had a dog with that name, so I loved that! Was fun to see 2 different series' characters merge into one story. I totally love that. Made me smile to see "old friends". The second book in this series set in Hunt, TX brings B&B owner, Agatha, another dead body. This is one not on her property but she and neighbor, Tony, are the first on the scene. She has almost a full house at the B&B and several are not who they purport thenselves to be. The couple from her Bishop series are brought in to this series. Clean,, but not sappy, fiction.

I love Amish Mysteries and this series is really good. This is the 2nd book in the Agatha's Amish B&B. Agatha runs a B&B in Hunts, Tx. People come to stay at her B&B because she promotes it as a simple, plain stay meaning peace and quiet but unfortunately that doesn't seem to happen. When the body of a friend is found Agatha and her neighbor Tony start investigating. They find out that everyone staying at the B&B seem to have a secret or a gift. Loved it A whodunit, "for sure and for certain", but not the typical Amish mystery. Wish that the B&B existed because I'd go there. If you have read 'the Bishop' series, you'll enjoy this book since Henry and Emma are guests when the murder is committed. Loved the characters. I won this Kindle book in the Goodreads Giveaways. So delighted I did because it's another Vannetta Chapman winner. Highly recommend. Loved it A whodunit, "for sure and for certain", but not the typical Amish mystery. Reading one of Vannetta Chapman's books is always a pleasure. She portrays the Amish as real people, living real lives, and who stay true to their faith. In this story the author revisits a favorite character, Henry, "the Bishop," who was the focus of a series. I loved that series and really wanted to hear more about Henry and his special gift. On the whole, the characters each had their individual roles to play but none stood out to me as being truly primary. Not having read book one in this series, I didn't already know Agatha who is the owner of the Bed & Breakfast which the story seems centered around. The story starts off with a bang that is heard from the locale of the Bed and Breakfast and Henry (remember, he's the Bishop) and his wife plus Agatha (remember she owns the Bed and Breakfast) with Tony, who is a close non-Amish friend of Agatha's set off to see the source of the gunshot "bang." From there we meet other characters who seem minor players, but who surprise us in the end. The mystery gets solved. We see more of Henry's gift. We see the gentle involvement of the Amish in sordid mysterious events. And we see the grace with which the Amish approach the hard facts. Again, Vannetta Chapman doesn't disappoint but entertains the reader with good, clean fun sprinkled with goodness and grace. I received a complimentary copy from the author to facilitate a review. What a delight to return to Hunt, Texas! I was overdue for some R&R at Agatha's Amish B&B. And what better news than to find my old friends, Henry and Emma Lapp were visiting, too?! Vannetta Chapman has woven another wonderful cozy mystery, flavored with her obvious love of Texas and all things Amish. I have to confess I stayed up past my bedtime to finish this book in one day. The characters and red herrings just kept me involved, wondering how or if each detail would play out. As usual, every conversation flowed so naturally that I practically forgot I was turning pages! And for fans of Chapman's "Bishop" books set in Colorado, there's an extra treat - it looks like Henry has found another use for his savant gift. This book just left me with a satisfied smile...and impatience for the next book in this great series to be published.

Regardless, they’re good friends who care for each other. They really are written true to life and I’d love to stay at Agatha’s B&B! Chapman’s writing style is enjoyable.
