This was another great read from Chloe Carley. I am always amazed at how quickly this Author can pull you into the storyline. I thought the storyline was unique. Shawn and Guy are brothers that don’t seem to get along. They argue more than anything. Shawn comes back home from New York for his Father who is dying. There seems to be some resentment over Shawn’s having gone to New York to begin with. After their Father’s death Shawn meets Ellie when he goes to her shop to order flowers for the funeral. Ellie understands the grief they are feeling as she is still mourning the death a couple of years or so previously of her husband. There is likening of Shawn to the prodigal son. However this is not exactly like the prodigal son story from the Bible. Shawn comes back home mostly a success. The “Prodigal Son” of the Bible didn’t come back home a success. This is more reminiscent of the story of Jacob and Esau. There is a villain in the story, Les Vincent. He has made a loan to Ellie with the purpose of ensnaring Ellie with the hopes of forcing her to marry him. She thinks she is the only one he has done this to. However Ellie finds out she is not the only one. Shawn and Guy put away their disagreements to face Les Vincent together. I enjoyed the fact that there is no profanity and no sexually explicit dialogue. This is a beautiful love story!

An interesting story about our heroine, Ellie, a widow and her kindhearted deeds in the community and a family grieving over their patriarch's death, made worse when the older city son, Shawn, is left with the farm instead of the younger son Guy, who devoted his life to farming the land. And the villain, Les, in the story "owns", intimidates, and threatens several folk who are financially indebted to him (1 of whom is Ellie). Basically it's a story of good vs. evil. Ellie is encouraged by Shawn with several ideas on how to improve her store and bring in more revenue, and a relationship grows. The overall theme is: "Goodness is not always found in grand actions but in the little moments of grace that seemed to spring up unannounced." I wondered several times where was the Sheriff?? And why did Ellie & Shawn have to take care of the problem themselves?? And why didn't Shawn have a gun with him when he went to confront Les?? I also found several typos, but they did not hinder my reading the story. I received a complimentary ARC copy of this book and have voluntarily given my honest opinion in this review.

From there she tried to keep her payments up only to fall behind and the banker was threatening her if she did not pay up. Shawn Holdman came back to town because his father was sick and dying. Shawn stuck around for awhile after only to find that he liked being in Missouri rather than in New York where it was full of smoke and loud noises and lots of people. Shawn and Ellie became friends and she with her faith and Shawns help managed to get the people to start gardens and grow flowers and vegetables. This was a book on suspense, love and the help of the faith that Ellie was trying to bring to everyone. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill

Shawn and Ellie strike up a friendship and together form a plan to help the townsfolk. You'll find yourself frustrated by the setbacks townsfolk experience, as well as encouraged by their faith and willingness to work together. It's easy to root for the good guys but hard to figure out how how the bad guy can possibly be caught. Even though you know it will eventually happen, You'll be surprised how. This was a pleasurable read , I'm sure you will enjoy.

Ellie is enjoying the florist shop her husband John helped her to build before his death. But, the only shadow over her is the debt. She borrowed money to finance it from an unscrupulous man who has the whole town thinking him an upstanding citizen. Shawn is a business man who resides in New York City. He did not want to be a farmer/rancher as his father wanted him to be. He only wanted fame and fortune. He is called home to the small town where he grew up as his father is sick unto death. Can they find happiness together or will he go back to New York. I recommend this book. It has twists and turns and happy ever after's.

Christian romance Nice story line. But where was the sheriff when a Shawn was beaten. Where was the sheriff when her flowers and flower bed fence were destroyed. Where's was the sheriff when others were also receiving property damage. He just showed up towards the end of the story. Christian romance Nice story line. There were a lot of symbolisms here This was a story of prayer, the power of prayers and hope. There were multiple layers to the messages here. It’s a light read that makes you smile.

Chloe Carley's latest novel, Tending to their Wounded Hearts, is a wonderful read with a timeless message. Her characters, Ellie and Shawn, illustrate that life is not always easy, and bullying is not only a 21st century problem.
