After reading a rather intense, smutty series, I needed something mindless to read. This series of short stories are fun. I wouldn’t say they are great, but they are easy to read and keep my mind from wondering. I feel like they are easy books to read between series.

Fantasy + romance = yum! I’ve read and reviewed a couple of Angela’s books in this genre (she has multiple series in high fantasy, too!) Angela is an impressive author, and I love supporting a fellow indie author. "Heart of the Raven" was spicier than "Lord of the Castle", but I didn’t mind! This episode brings together two unlikely travelers, each looking for their place in the world. Lady Sasha, a young noble woman, fleeing from an arranged marriage to a brutal lord, was traveling with friends through the woods to visit her grandmother, a seer, to help her understand her inherited magical powers. Raven, a man/bird changeling, who was the old, evil Queen’s instrument of death, banished by the new Queen, was wrestling with reforming his ways while roaming the wildwood. The two met when Sasha was the only survivor of a violent attack. Raven agreed to guide Sasha through the woods, in return for a good report on him when the Queen questioned her. Each one had to resolve whether to trust the other. The dangers in the journey exposed their inner wants and needs, helping them discover what they really wanted out of life. Could they be happy together, or would they continue to search on their own? Ms. Ford’s masterful storytelling and world building skills show in every book she writes. She captivates the reader in a mixture of fantasy, magic and romance, then adds a darker side of an adult fairy tale in this series. These stand-alone books have small connections to other books in the series that make me want to read them all, to see the full rich scope of the enchanted wildwood. I highly recommend this series – see for yourself!

A short intensely romantic story that reads like epic fantasy and feels like a fairy tale. The old queens ruthless killer and an aloof, haughty lady, her hands unroughened from work. The relationship building in this forbidden romance was truly amazing. Beautifully told story full of magic and the unexpected. Definitely an adult fairy tale due to both some of the dark subject matter and a sensuous scene near the end of the book. It is in keeping with the other books in the series. This is the 4th book in the Tales of the Enchanted Wildwood series. As with the previous books, it can be enjoyed as a standalone but is also tangentially related to previous books. Sasha was introduced in book 3 and Raven was first seen in Book 1. You knew there was more to both of them and they had an amazing story. A couple new characters were introduced in this book that I hope will feature in their own installments as well.

A beautifully romantic tale about a young noble woman, Lady Sasha and her flight to freedom, escaping form a forced arranged marriage to the cruel tyrannical, Lord Bracken and looking for her real home. On the way she encounters the Raven, the harbinger of death, who used to work for the evil queen of the Wildwood but who had been banished by the new queen. A man who was trying his best to reform, to leave darkness behind him forever and who Sasha believed in, and saw light and goodness in. A man who was trying his best to reform, to leave darkness behind him forever and who Sasha believed in, and saw light and goodness in. Sasha learnt as they traversed the Wildwood on her way to Capern and her great grandmother, Mother Misha the true meaning of the word home and she returned to lay a claim on what was hers before the Goddess of death did. I was blown away by the beauty of this tale, of magic, hope and love and the need all of us have to belong as did our two lost souls, who found one another. These tales of the Enchanted Wildwood are truly magical and I am dying to read the next book in the series of stand alone novels.

This was my first read in this series and I can definitely attest that it stands alone, but it was so good, it also made me want to go back and read the rest of the series. This story has great world-building and imagery along with well-drawn characters. Lady Sasha and the Raven meet when they are both lost after a fashion, the lady running from an arranged marriage, the Raven running from his past, both seeking freedom and home. This a beautiful story with magic, fantasy, and a bit of steam. I could not get through this book. Sasha is just too unlikeable! She’s so pretentious! She pretended to be a maid for 2 years and still can’t clean/ tidy up? You are SPOILED my guy. And she goes on about how things were acceptable to peasants but not her. Puh-Leeeze. She complains all the time! She complains about wearing pants because she’s a woman, YOU ARE IN HIDING GIRL. I couldn’t get passed her unbearable personality so I did not finish.

A solid 3.5 Okay so, this is my favorite one in this novella series. It goes more in-depth in the magic system and it uses pre-established characters! We have a woman from book 3 and an antagonist from book 1. I really think the world is interesting and it's a shame that novellas don't go super in-depth. This was so good! The story was perfect. It was a kind of forbidden romance trope and so perfect. The author is so good in writing romance and the only problem was that the books was not long enough.
