Nail-biting! I'm surprised I have any nails left after finishing "When They Find Us" by Jenifer Ruff. This is the third book in the series with a fourth to come. I believe they can be read as stand alone because I have not read the first two yet and didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. You can mark my words that I am going to find the time in my schedule to read them. This is a great story of survival after a plane crash in Greenland during the winter. There are seven survivors. You can mark my words that I am going to find the time in my schedule to read them. This is a great story of survival after a plane crash in Greenland during the winter. There are seven survivors. One of them is an FBI agent so, you know they pull out all the stops to investigate their whereabouts and what happened to the plane. There were a few characters I was rooting for and a couple I didn't care for. That's normal. I think there is always one character I don't like. Maybe that's just me.  I read one other book by Jenifer and that was a winner too. I'm not usually into espionage and FBI but, she really knows how to pull off a good story and I haven't minded. In fact, you can tell I loved both of her books. If you haven't read her books yet and are looking for a new series or author, I highly recommend Jenifer's books. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest review. I'm glad I did! Thank you, Jenifer.

Entertaining! Jenifer Ruff has written another action packed, suspenseful book! I'm telling you, when you have a chance to read Ruff's books, you don't want to pass it up. This was the 3rd book in her Agent Victoria Heslin series, it can be read as a stand alone, but I think you should definitely read the others. Tension, drama, suspense and epic adventure! This is the third book in the Agent Victoria Heslin Thriller Series but be assured that it can absolutely be thoroughly enjoyed as a standalone without imparting any sense of having missed out on vital background. This is the third book in the Agent Victoria Heslin Thriller Series but be assured that it can absolutely be thoroughly enjoyed as a standalone without imparting any sense of having missed out on vital background. In this frighteningly plausible storyline, we follow FBI Agent Victoria Heslin and her potential romantic partner and friend, Ned Patterson (a veterinarian) as they embark on a trip to Spain to volunteer at an animal rescue which Victoria sponsors. Unfortunately for them, the flight does not go as planned. The plane crashes under mysterious circumstances in a location so far removed from the approved flight path that finding the downed plane using established search and rescue protocols soon proves to be an exercise in futility. As the investigation into the disappearance of Skyline Flight 745 unfolds, it becomes apparent that this is not a routine hijacking or act of terrorism. Leading the FBI’s efforts in this multi-agency investigation is Agent Dante Rivera, a colleague and personal friend of Victoria’s who harbors some intense but, as yet, unspoken personal feelings for her. His struggle to remain professional in spite of his escalating internal turmoil as he relentlessly pursues each lead in the case is so well portrayed that his anxiety and tension are palpable. The horrific circumstances Victoria, Ned, and the other crash survivors find themselves in is carefully depicted in detail but, thankfully, without the excessive gruesomeness favored by some writers. The exquisitely vivid description of the excruciating cold endured by the survivors as they await rescue is enough to chill your bones as you read. Can they survive long enough to be rescued? Will the mystery of what crashed Flight 745 be solved? You’ll have to pick up the book and start reading to find out. If you enjoy a taught thriller featuring a diverse array of interesting characters and a timely and plausible premise, this book will surely enthrall you from start to finish. It offers the visceral impact of a Dan Brown novel and a meticulously crafted plot replete with unrelenting chills, thrills, and suspense. Please insure that your seat backs and tray tables are in their full upright and locked positions because this is one epic adventure! I was provided with an advance copy of this book by the author and I am voluntarily offering my honest and unbiased review.

From the first Victoria Heslin book I have loved her character. In this book her character shows strengths and weaknesses and really develops into a more rounded character. Starts out great, middle is great, ending fizzles out. And because of spoilers I can't say why it fizzles out but I can tell you was I was left unsatisfied. The bulk of the novel is how the characters deal with being stuck in an area where there is just snow as far as the eye can see. No distant smoke trails from towns or villages, nothing but white. And wind. The wind is the killer. And they also have to deal with each other's personalities and the clashes that ensue. And wind. The wind is the killer. And they also have to deal with each other's personalities and the clashes that ensue. Speaking of personalities, at least one of the characters seemed two dimensional to me, and like a Hollywood stand-in for X typical role. Now that I think of it there was more than one character that seemed two dimensional or wooden to me. Their actions, now that I look back, seemed to be useful for the plot rather than what a real person would choose to do. Same thing with some of the things they said and their overall character, it just seemed too perfect for the plot rather than a real person. But it's not the worst book I've read so I gave it 3 stars. I don't think I'll be reading any more from this author unless I run out of other stuff to read, which I don't foresee.

This is a wonderful third book in a series – the other two are even better, as far as the mystery goes, but the survivalist part of this one is amazing. Also you’ll be cold reading it and it’s a 2 am - finish the book before I go to bed kind of book.

A well written thriller but simply not as plausible as previous entries in this series. There are a few loose ends which are never really wrapped up either, and the suspension of disbelief is more akin to a science fiction story than a crime thriller. Good for a light read.

This Book MUST Be Made Into A Movie From beginning to end, a movie played in my mind. It was sensational! I was so worried Ashby was going to die right before the rescue. This should not be a low budget movie but a grand one. I wish I had a contact at a studio. Best book I've read in awhile. When I get the opportunity to read this author and her novels I jump at them or should say into them. This one will grip you by the throat right away with us holding our breaths. Victoria finds herself in a dilemma that I myself could not imagine. With that going on for her there is her coworker whom is like trying to find a needle in a haystack but with no haystack. Nothing is held back in this one to keep the reader engaged and tangled up in this drama that we can not look away from. We are given the right level of suspense in the unfolding of what happens to the survivors without going too far. Do not plan on leaving this either too much because time is of the essence in seeing who survives if any.

PHENOMENAL ! I mean talk about being on the edge of your seat, nail biting, stress feeling (feeling what the characters feel) and so much more ! Ruff has done a phenomenal job with this book. So intense. Talk about surviving...now this is a story. I received this as an ARC and this is my honest and voluntary review.

My year in books 2021 is off to a great start with When They Find Us. From the very first chapter, I was captivated by the plot. I look forward to reading additional books by Jenifer Ruff. The fast-moving plot and variety of characters made me anxious to keep reading. And, a bonus for me at least, was that the book was not too gory.

Another great installment A routine trip to her dog rescue in Spain sees Victorias plane crash land in the middle of nowhere. The story shows the race against time to not only find the plane and its occupants alive before time runs out. As always these books are fast paced and thrilling in how real the scenarios could be.

I was captured by this story from the first to last page. I really enjoyed the survival aspect more than I expected. The characters were realistic and I loved reading about different responses to life and death situations. It was totally believable with being gruesome. I always learn things from Ruff’s books as well. Agent Heslin’s love life is both intriguing and frustrating. I now know who she should choose if she is true to herself. The mystery kept me guessing the entire time. I highly recom I was captured by this story from the first to last page. I really enjoyed the survival aspect more than I expected. This was a roller coaster ride from the first page. There is so much mystery and suspense. The storyline of this one is very intriguing and entertaining. I was hooked from the beginning to end. It can be read as a stand-alone with no cliffhanger. Victoria Heslin is a very strong likable character. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving this review

Couldn’t put it down A plane crash in a frozen wasteland. Survivors desperate to be rescued. FBI agents determined to find not only the cause of the plane’s disappearance, but to find his co-worker. I was hooked on this book from the start. The intricate story line kept me reading well past my bedtime. I loved how the author developed the characters so well that I could easily picture them in my mind. I love this book and intended to start this series from the beginning.

When They Find Us, the third novel in the Agent Victoria Heslin series, is an incredible page turner. This edge-of-your-seat thriller starts off with a bang when an airplane disappears. Where is the plane? Did it crash? Was it hijacked? Rivera, Victoria’s partner at the FBI, will do all he can to try to answer these questions and, most importantly, find her. Meanwhile, she will have her own troubles to deal with. I could not put down this fast-paced tale. Ms. Ruff has definitely outdone herself.
