Our lives are really busy. We rush through home life to get to a hectic work life. Rush to get all of the tasks in work done in a day then rush back home to get food made, the family organized, and prepare for the next day. It’s easy to lose our sense of self in this jumble we call life and it’s easy to let outside events affect us. Even the miscommunication with those we love can throw us for a loop. Things like these make us feel bitter and like there is nothing for us in this life. But simply Our lives are really busy. We rush through home life to get to a hectic work life. It’s easy to lose our sense of self in this jumble we call life and it’s easy to let outside events affect us. Even the miscommunication with those we love can throw us for a loop. Things like these make us feel bitter and like there is nothing for us in this life. But simply making time for ourselves, doing something we enjoy, and sharing with others our passions can make a difference in our lives. This short book is a collection of poems and stories about that. How can we take a moment and change it for the better? How important is something you do or who you spend your time with? What are you willing to do to make yourself or someone else happy? It’s easy to forget about the little things that mean so much to all of us. This book is a great way to remind ourselves to do something for us, to learn how important it is to take time for ourselves, and how simple things like this make our lives so much easier. I admit that I’m not really a poetry person. But I really liked how this short book made a point of how important you are and how we need to spend time with ourselves to really enjoy life. This is a great little book and one I strongly recommend reading. It will surprise you. I received Pearls of Daily Life from the author for free. This has in no way influenced my opinion of this book.

Pearls of Daily Life by Antonia Loschner is a collection of short stories and poems which "invite a journey of discovery". The book explores daily lives of people doing ordinary routine things and finding out little things about themselves. It offers exactly what is promises- wisdom in daily life. A journey of self-discovery in small incidents of life. The book takes on seemingly mundane yet interesting themes- a walk in the garden, a train ride, standing up for your co-passengers, children playing in the garden. The book came as a breath of fresh air. I was afraid it was going to be like those preachy self-help novel espousing hard routines or sermons to discover yourself. But as soon as I read the first poem- Creativity, I knew I was in for something different. You need not trek the Himalayas to discover yourself, you could very well be taking a walk and surprise yourself. You just need to be a little aware. Another thing that I liked about the book is how often the author talked mental illness. Mental Illness is a grim reality of today and it has affected so many people around us. But it also true it is also one of the most tabooed subjects to talk about. In a nutshell, pick up this book if you want to read something light, breezy and inspiring. PS: I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

I just loved this little gem. When it arrived, my first thought on seeing the cover, was what a wonderful gift this would make. I am not someone that usually gets into poetry, but the simple poetry in this book had meaning to me. The short stories each had something to do with self... rediscovery, self-care, being present, passion, etc.. The stories were independent with various characters on their own life journeys. More than one of these stories encouraged and inspired me in my personal life. I just loved this little gem. I believe there really is something for everyone in this little book. The book is translated from German to English. In a couple of places the writing seems a bit awkward, but the meaning is very clear. I would use the book by reading a story or poem each morning to have something to reflect on throughout the day. It might also be a good book to carry with you, reading a story on your lunch break or while waiting for someone. This is a book that can be read over and over. The stories may have distinct meanings at different points in life. I was provided with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Pearls of Daily Life is a wonderful novel full of short stories and poems. I found it very easy to read through this book. The stories were quick yet simple reads set through the eyes of everyday people. It really makes you think how quickly life can pass by if you ignore it or only focus on complex things going on. The author made me want to stop and think about daily happenings within my own life and how something so simple like enjoying a cup of coffee or talking to a coworker you barely know can really change your life. The poems were descriptive and detailed and I could feel and see what the author was describing like the ocean or the forest. This is a recommended read for anyone who has sometime to pause life and read through a few pages during the day.

I was asked if I would read these short stories and poems about self discovery. I was apprehensive as I usual read fiction apart from the odd books based on true stories and the odd autobiography. In our busy lives nowadays and the hustle and bustle stressful lives we lead there is never enough time in a day to think about our own needs and we might get "lost" along the way. She sure knows what she's talking about. I loved the short stories the best.
