It started cute enough, although a little boring. When Leo meets River, he is surprised by how attracted he is to his best friend’s identical twin. After all, he was never attracted to Kai. But Kai warned him off River. Which of course means Leo can’t stop thinking about River. It’s a bit annoying how Kai seems to think River is so dumb and fragile and naive, and must be protected, but whatever. Leo and River secretly hook What the hell did I just read? Leo all of a sudden also starts treating River like a child. Leo: We can hook up. But only once a week. I don’t want you obsessing about me. And you have to go to school. Make new friends. No hanging out with me every night. River: Awesome! And we don’t tell Kai. Me: WTAF So yadayadayada, they have a weird secret relationship until they get caught and shit hits the fan. ... And then...wait for it...after everything was fixed, and they can be together...Leo went and found River an apartment and put a deposit on it, because apparently River is too dumb to do it on his own. That was at 85% and I was done. I skimmed till the end anyway, but my brain had already exploded all over my kindle.

Thought it was okay. The swoon level was pretty low unlike the first one. It’s just that at the end of the day it didn’t fully capture my interest. Highly interested with the others! I dig this falling for the brother’s bestfriend kind of storyline.

I loved it all very, first I was afraid it would be maybe a bit predictable but it was absolutely not. It was romantic and sensual, considered, and full of care. The sexual part was appealing af. The personalities were all so lovable and engaging, there are only kind and adorable guys with the best intentions. It has a really good plot. No unnecessary drama, the goal was happiness! The whole story was captivatingly written and quite entertaining and enjoyable.

I enjoyed this so much. I really liked Leo and River. Although their story was familiar and similar to many other romances, it was just a sweet wonderful read. It was great how they slowly came together and helped each other find their true self. I liked it much better than the first book in this series.

This one fell a bit flat to me, I liked book 1 way more. Leo is best friends with Kay and starts something with his twin River. That's not a bad plot but the execution was meh. A lot of conversations were summarized which did not allow me to see the relationship grow. I didn't really see or feel the friendship between Kay and Leo or the love between Leo and River. I get that the author tried to show that they were helping each other but it did not really come through to me. Kay felt too entitled to tell everyone else what he thought about their lives and how they should live it. He gave commands and rules, it was a bit much for people who are 30 because they accepted the "rules"... It's not a bad book but a lot was missing.

River, for his part, was a bit of a mess, but only because his heart was so big and he falls far too fast. He really takes the time to figure out what he wants out of life and to make it happen. I loved seeing both Leo and River being buoyed up by the other. These guys absolutely worked from the start. These two had a really solid foundation for their relationship, and things between them felt very natural as the relationship progressed. The chemistry sparked between them the moment they met, and it only grew from there. There was no doubt they were made for each other. Read Kris’ review in its entirety here.

Leo is very anti-relationship and wants nothing to do with second nights. When his other BFF/work and business partner/roommate (Kai) invites his twin brother (River) to stay with Leo and Kai for a while, Leo thinks nothing of it. He’s never been attracted to Kai and doesn’t do relationships which River does too many of. No worries at all, right? Call Leo surprised when he wants River more than he ever thought possible. River and Leo were great together. Leo helped River see what a healthy relationship was like, and River helped Leo see that letting your guard down wasn’t always a bad thing. There was more drama between Kai and the boys than there were between Shawn/Cass and Leo, but they all worked everything out beautifully. Another super sweet and great book. I really enjoyed book one of this series but struggled to get into Forbidden Friend. Kai has told River, his twin that he has to stay away from relationships as he's moving in with him after yet another breakup. Of course, what ensues is one hot hookup, a strong budding friendship with feelings neither man expected. There's definitely a good message here as River takes the time to be by himself and relearn what he wants from life without depending upon another. I liked the way that Leo and River's relationship developed after they'd had their secret rendezvous, with each man striving to help the other be better and move forward in a way that is positive for them. They both have a close relationship with Kai and there is of course fallout whenever there are secrets but it's well written, really able to sense the emotions that all three men feel throughout the building relationship and discovery. Overall I enjoyed the story, a good best friend's brother romance. It just took me a while to fall into the story. I'm hoping to get Kai's story next. I also loved getting to hear from Shawn and Cass (Falling For The Geek) again. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

Leo has never wanted a real relationship, while River has always been looking for love. Good god, this is pure entertainment of falling for your best friend's twin. It's a roommates story with a wonderfully written forbidden aspect. It's a story with attraction, sneaking around, and heat. Leo and River are adorable together. I just love every moment of them and the ending is fabulous. They are complete opposites who connect quickly and have a strong chemistry that can't de denied. Personally, I absolutely love that Leo is attracted to River, after never finding himself even looking twice at River's twin. He can see the differences between the men quickly, making for a compelling read. This is a story with self doubts, insecurities, and pain. It's a story of thinking one isn't worthy of love, until one man comes along and gives you the strength and confidence you need to accept yourself. The writing is great, very fluid, with stellar dialogue. I love the characters and their flaws. The storyline is riveting and left me consumed throughout. Forbidden Friend is a sweet tale. It's a quick story, delightfully entertaining, and perfect when you're in the mood for a light story with some angst.

What a sweet romance. With each book I read from this author I enjoy them more and more. River and Leo are so different but the love they grow balances them out. Funny and cute with only a little drama, their story made me laugh and gave so many adorable moments as well as plenty of heat and a few tears.

I have to assume that Kai has never heard of reverse psychology. Otherwise, his forbidding his best friend, Leo, from hooking up with his identical twin brother, River, makes no sense. We all know that if you tell someone not to do something, they’ll focus on doing that one forbidden thing. In this story, it seemed Leo took Kai’s words to heart and vowed not to get involved with River, who moved in with them after coming off of yet another boyfriend break-up and broken heart. However, that resolve lasted only until he actually saw River - all of River - engaged in some very private activity. After, Leo gave the whole “stay away from my brother who is now living in the bedroom next to you and walking around the apartment half-naked” a valiant attempt, but (and I don’t think I’m spoiling anything here) Leo, who only does hook-ups, and River, who never does hook-ups, are nevertheless attracted like magnets and eventually the attraction becomes too much to resist. The development of their relationship was sweet, and it was enjoyable seeing them both willing to try something different, to be with each other in a way they had never been with another person before. The respect Leo gives River, and the loving support, encouragement and independence he nurtures in River, was really the best part of the book. (The steamy sex scenes weren't bad either.) Leo wants River, but he puts River ahead of his desires. I really enjoyed seeing these two MCs become a couple and progress towards their HEA. Recommended reading for sure, and you can pick this up even if you haven’t read the first book in the series; characters from that story play a role in this one so you know there’s a storyline you missed, but it doesn’t affect your enjoyment of this book. If anything, reading this book will just spur you on to read the first one, and then return to this one for a reread.

Forbidden Friend is the second book the His Best Friend's Brother series. This book is about the forbidden romance between Leo and River - forbidden only because River's twin brother very pointedly tells Leo to keep his hands off of River. There is some angst in this book, primarily with Kai and its all angst that could have been resolved by them just TALKING to Kai instead of all the times they talked about how they should talk to him. The communication between River and Leo was cute though, as was a deal they made early in the book. This book is a great second book in the series and really warmed my heart. He has a habit of falling in love very easily and losing himself in his partner. Kai has one request for Leo about his brother coming to stay with them...."Keep your filthy hands off my brother!" Leo usually sticks to one-night stands so that shouldn't be a problem. Besides, Leo isn't attracted to Kai, so he shouldn't be attracted to his identical twin either, right?! Well....not exactly. River is very different from Kai, in looks and attitude. Maybe it's just the fact that he is forbidden that makes him want River more. Their chemistry is off the charts but neither of them want to hurt Kai. But if it's just a one-night stand, it should be ok....no one gets hurt and the itch is scratched! Sounds good in theory but life has a way of shaking things up. As Leo and River start to learn more about each other, it becomes clear that they want more than they originally discussed. Can these two actually have a relationship....without Kai wanting to throttle them both? Can Leo open himself up to more than a casual romp? Will River fall in love again and lose himself like he always seems to do or will he finally be able to put himself first? A fun, sexy read!

This was a cute brother’s best friend romance. Kai and Leo have been roommates for the last 10 years and they own and run a PR firm together. Kai’s twin, River, moves in with them to try and get himself back on his feet after a breakup. Leo is a hookup only, no relationships ever kinda guy and River is the opposite, basically a hopeless romantic who jumps into relationships way too fast. Kai warns Leo away from his brother and also asks his brother to stay out of relationships and get himself to This was a cute brother’s best friend romance. Kai warns Leo away from his brother and also asks his brother to stay out of relationships and get himself together. Of course... that doesn’t work. Ha. Leo and River were cute. They complemented each other pretty well. The epilogue was pretty cute. I’m excited to read Kai’s story now. I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the first in this series but I’m still glad I read it. I’d give this a 3.5⭐️

An adorably sweet story. Leo and Kai met, due to Kai brother bailing on the apartment they both signed on. Leo and Kai became friends then business partners. Leo has never been in a relationship, prefering hook-ups. Kai definately should have known better than to tell Leo to stay away from his twin, River. River has followed his heart for 10 years, hes had relationship after relationship. Been heartbroken over and over. So when Kai told him not to get into another relationship. River tried. So what else would you expect but for the perputual lover to fall for the hookup king. I definately recommend this for low angst reading.

I loved Leo in Falling for the Geek, but it was amazing to see his personality and what made him into the man he is in Forbidden Friend. When he was told by his best friend to keep his filthy hands to himself, that should have been a red flag!! This was low angst romance between Leo and River. River falls in love too easily, but he found the real thing in Leo. It was impossible to keep them apart, they had an instant connection. Super steamy, excellent story!! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. This author's books are ones I consistently enjoy, and that held true here as I liked this sweet, low angst story. I've gotta admit, though, that I didn't LOVE it. The healthy, mutually empowering, balanced relationship angle - while it would be great out in the real world, I'm sure - just doesn't tick my personal romance boxes as much... and the whole idea that a third party - Kai, in this case - gets to have a say in whether or not two people get together REALLY rubs me the wrong way. Reading to Stay Awake

As with book one in this series this needs a good edit and proof read!! The story this time is based around the brother from book one and he falls for his best friend's twin, awkward or what!!!!! Of course gooey eyes eventually lead to popcorn eventually lead to FWB agreements and that leads to the HEA. The pace of the book is great with you being able to read it in one sitting. As with book one this is a great book for reading in the sun on the beach so I recommend it if you can see past the err As with book one in this series this needs a good edit and proof read!! This opposites attract/best friend's brother romance was sweet with low angst. Leo and River started as friends with an attraction that slowly built into a forever kind of love that neither was expecting. The angst was really River's twin brother/Leo's best friend, Kai, when he found out River and Leo were together. This is a stand alone but you do meet Leo in His Best Friends's Brother, when Leo's childhood best friend falls in love with his brother which was another sweet, summer story. It is a romance, so what do you immediately know as the start has Kai telling his friend Leo that when his brother, River moves in with them he is off limits? Of course, Mr. Playboy Leo is immediately attracted to Mr. Hearts and Flowers, forever after, River. Talk about opposites attract and obstacles to overcome involving family, friends and reputation these two guys have it all. I loved the way the author built up the tension and then resolved it so they get their HEA but it never seems rushed It is a romance, so what do you immediately know as the start has Kai telling his friend Leo that when his brother, River moves in with them he is off limits?
