They let her go back to her old friends that she had had a falling out with and kept her in the dark for a year after the accident and subsequent memory loss. She felt incredibly betrayed and manipulated when she discovered they had staged the heart trail. Fast read, but also underwhelming. Felt a bit rushed in some areas. This would be a perfect introduction to contemporary romance, though. Very simple and short. I wasn’t swooning, but it had swooning potential. The entire plot seemed sweet, but I didn’t enjoy the execution. Also... totally guessed who Andy was from the start. 😗

I loved every moment of cozying up to this adorable little novel. Ella’s story was sweet, had a lot of emotional depth and the added touch of mystery made reading the book really enjoyable. It’s definitely one of those rare YA novels that will hold your attention throughout the story. 💜 Ella was a really relatable teenager! Her struggles to fit in, even with her closest friends after her tragic car accident laid a very strong foundation for the story. As you grow older, you start to realize who the real people in your life are – this fact was perfectly portrayed through various truth bombs that were dropped throughout the book. I’ve found it very hard to stand up to my friends, just like Ella does in 11 Paper Hearts, so I really connected to her that way. One of the book’s biggest lessons is: Life is very short, so we should let go of the toxic people and make space for the ones who bring out the best side of us. The sibling dynamic between Ella and Ashley was definitely one of the highlights of reading 11 Paper Hearts for me! Seeing the growth in their relationship made my heart feel so full! They had their ups and downs along the way, but that’s what made their bond so real, you know? I loved reading about Andy too! Nerdy guys in books make me go all soft and sappy, and Andy was no different. His conversations with Ella made reading the book so much better! I’ll end the review with my favorite part of reading the book – The mystery of the 11 Paper Hearts! The author created such a unique plotline by making Ella follow the trail of paper hearts. It was both heart-touching and fascinating to see that someone was trying really hard to help Ella remember the 11 weeks that she had no memory of for the accident. I thought I’d figured out who the mystery admirer was, but boy, I was so wrong! The ending was just the sweetest thing ever. Highly recommend picking 11 Paper Hearts when it comes out tomorrow. I hope you guys love reading it as much as I did! 😁

Unfortunately, I just didn’t care for anything else about the book. The main character, Ella, lacked depth and development and, for someone who spent a good amount of time talking about her own intelligence, made for a pretty shoddy detective. The mystery of the love notes was obvious and I didn’t care for the other plot points, such as Ella’s relationship with her friends or her ex-boyfriend, Pete. Overall, this book was clearly not for me but I would recommend it to younger teen readers and to fans of To All the Boys I've Loved Before. The perfect Valentine’s Day read with a swoony romance that left me with a smile on my face. I really enjoy amnesia stories and this one reminded me of a YA version of Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella which I also really enjoyed. The love interest was a total sweetheart and I loved as Ella put the clues together to find out who her secret admirer was. I felt there were many things that still did not make sense to me by the end of the story. So I am undecided on how to rate this book. It is somewhere between it was okay and I liked it. (view spoiler)[ Ella is suppose to be this smart and organized person. She got into a great college in NYC and yet she couldn't figure out how to do a "forgot password" to get back into her social media accounts? This drove me batty! I forget passwords all the time and I just reset them... sometimes I even try to reset them to the password that I forgot they were... I kept internally screaming JUST RESET THE PASSWORD! I also found myself asking does she not have old text messages on her phone from this supposed person she was in love with prior to her accident? Did someone go into her phone and delete the messages? I don't understand how there was no digital trail that she could have used to figure out what was going on. Also I didn't buy Andy's excuse on waiting AN ENTIRE YEAR to try and get back into Ella's life after the accident. He should have been there from the start helping her recover. How can you love someone and then abandon them when they need you the most even if they temporarily cannot remember you? Who knows maybe if he was involved from the beginning she could have recovered some lost memories? I don't know I am not a doctor but this just seemed so wrong to me. Also Ella come on you're getting mad at him because he said his name was Andy instead of Drew... His name is Andrew it is all the same name! Well to me. This book was such a joy to read. In fact, I finished it and immediately wanted to read it again. I love the idea of the plot - a mystery without being scary. I enjoyed trying to guess the ending the entire time and happily discovering I was wrong. I love when books are able to surprise me. I found Ella and all of her thoughts extremely relatable. She nailed the uncomfortable teenager, not really sure where she fits in, or how to speak up when she witnesses someone else being mean. This book has This book was such a joy to read. This book has romance, friendship, mystery, and lovely comedic moments. I love the touch of capitalizing certain phrases, e.g. “Normal Teenage Things”. The quick, witty dialogue between Andy and Ella is reminiscent of Gilmore Girls. I have already recommended this book to so many people. If you’re reading this, you’re next. Go read it! I can’t wait to read what Kelsey Hartwell writes next.

This was a sweet YA love story that had me swooning, and such a great twist on a second chance romance. The mystery with the paper hearts led Ella to a scavenger hunt, but instead of trying to remember, she was more present, getting out of her bubble post-accident, creating new memories in parallel to the old ones. The nostalgia spoke volumes, and the ending was still somewhat of a surprise to me (in a good way). Yes, I LOVED it! Seriously the perfect, quick binge on Valentine’s week.

11 Paper Hearts has a really cute premise, a mystery admirer sending 11 clues to their identity and helping Ella rediscover herself after trauma causes her to lose some memories. I was hoping eternally that she would stand up to them as they clearly weren't a good group of people. Even after finishing the book, I still cant understand why no one at all just filled Ella in on her missing weeks. Her parents, sibling, friends, love interests.... all of them must have known the basics and no one thought to just tell her anything that had gone on. It all struck me as a bit odd and I think ruined my enjoyment of the story. It's also quite odd that the mystery heart sender waited an entire year before trying to help her regain her memory, it perhaps made for a better story but it just felt cruel to me, and so it took away the cute edge that I was hoping the story would hold.

An ADORABLE read! Sure, it was a bit predictable, but, that didn't damper my enjoyment of it. I think I liked it BECAUSE it was a little predictable, I wanted the things to happen that were going to happen…if that makes sense. I tell you though I thought for sure I knew who was leaving the hearts, but I was a bit wrong on that, so, not entirely predictable for me as it'll probably be for others who are going to read this. It was SO CUTE in the sort of way that 'To All the Boys I've Loved Before' or 'The Kissing Booth' was which this book is compared to in the synopsis, and I have to agree for what sort of 'feel' the book gives, they were spot on. (I haven't read so I can't compare the style or caliber of writing styles, but I've seen the movie adaptations of those two books) It's fluffy, sweet, and also a bit about embracing change and the unknown while making sure you KNOW who you want to be or don't want to be because we're not always sure of who we are in the moment. Ella was one of the popular girls and she still is but I loved watching her morph, to change her own perception of her friends and herself, and not to mention I also adored her sister and both Pete and Andy as the boys in this book. 3.5/5 huge cups of coffee from me, thanks so much to the publisher and NetGalley for an eARC of this in exchange for my honest opinion.

Sweet, soft, and perfect for the mood I was in at that time. Loved the main character as well as the supporting characters, like her ex, her sister, her partner detective etc. My only complaint is that I wish the backstories had been fleshed out a little more. After the revelation, I felt like I did not know these characters at all (much like how the main character felt). And the ending seemed rushed. I think a few more additional chapters would have helped me connect with the story more.

A lot happens in each chapter as Ella goes on her scavenger hunt for the paper hearts. The author writes the mystery element nicely, where I wasn’t sure until the end of who was sending the hearts. Similarly, the author also describes the locations so beautifully. I want to visit Belvedere Castle to see the beautiful views. Again, I also loved how the author described “The Whispering Gallery” and would love to experience it the next time I’m in the city. The characters are dynamic as well. I liked Ella in the lead. While she is a popular girl, she is down to earth. The author wrote her nicely as she goes through different emotions due to her amnesia. I loved her friendship and chemistry with Andy. Honestly, Ella shares good chemistry with Andy and Pete. However, I loved the scenes with Andy and Ella. Some memorable moments are when they play the “Hot Chocolate Game” or see the stars. I also enjoyed the moments between Ella and Ashley. The author portrayed their bond realistically. However, the only minor criticism I have of the story is how the author did not focus on Sarah and Carmen’s characters. I would have loved more background on Ella’s confrontation with Sarah and Carmen towards the climax. Apart from that, overall, I thought “11 Paper Heart” was fun, exciting, romantic with a good mystery alongside.

This book was ok but I think that there wasn’t enough of the actual romance. I liked that at some of the places that the clues led to the characters did things but there were too many places where they went there found the paper heart and left. I wanted to see more scenes with Ella interacting with the other characters and doing things. For example, at the ice skating rink, nothing actually happens. They go there, the other character says they don’t ice skate and Ella just leaves them there and skates around, gets disappointed that she can’t find the paper heart, then they get hot chocolate and that’s it. I would have wanted to see more details like what they talked about and maybe them actually skating together as it was just boring. The characters were ok but other than Ella, you don’t really get to know as they don’t appear enough or for long enough in the scenes. I didn’t like Ella’s friends and I don’t think that Ella liked them either but she doesn’t do anything about it until one of the last chapters. All the other characters aren’t really shown enough to actually get to know them. The main characters might spend time together but it’s not until the last time that they were together that Ella wasn’t only thinking about the paper hearts. Also, the relationship to me wasn’t shown because after she finds out what she did in the 11 weeks before the accident, the main characters don’t talk for weeks and then there is one scene where they see each other and everything thing is fine. There was no epilogue or other chapters after that to see how they would actually get along as a couple. This book was ok but it wasn’t for me as nothing really happened, despite the creative plot. The main characters don’t really interact with each other even when they spend time together and Ella doesn’t like some things but still goes along with them which didn’t make sense.

I especially liked the ending and all the cute moments shared by Ella and her forgotten love. Ella was able to accept the truth when it was uncovered and move past her issues but best of all she was able to acknowledge her own love story in the end. Even though she couldn't remember the boy she fell in love with, she was able to feel his love to the fullest extent. "If I'm being honest with myself, he's the real reason I felt so lost this year. Now I know why - he borrowed my heart like a library book, but he never really gave it back." Ella is a hopeless romantic but after she is involved in a car accident she suffers from Amnesia causing her to lose 11 weeks of her life. In that time, she forgets meeting the boy she loves and the drama surrounding her best friends. After a year, on Valentine's Day she receives a paper heart with a clue to one of eleven locations. Ella has to follow the clues from her secret admirer and try to remember the beautiful moments she experienced at each location.

Ella’s journey, from trying to find out who kept sending her the paper hearts, along with changing as a person and outgrowing the life with her friends and boyfriend that she thought had always been perfect for her, was really nice to see. I thought the way Ella stood up to her friends, especially Carmen, was really well done and was happy at the end when she was able to do things that she wouldn’t have had the pleasure of experiencing had she been the person her friends expected her to be. I thought the mystery aspect was great as well, really making me wonder who the secret admirer was; just when I thought I had finally figured it out, something in the story would pop up, completely changing my mind. As for the romance, I thought it was very sweet and I couldn’t get enough of it. The conversations between Andy and Ella were really cute and I wish I’d have more of them, especially in the end since it felt a little bit rushed.

This was such a cute read and it is definitely perfect for the month of February and Valentine’s Day! This is a YA contemporary romance that follows Ella along her journey of discovering who is sending her the paper hearts, and what exactly happened in the weeks leading up to her accident. Within the story, we learn about her friendships, romantic relationships, and see her grow as a person. This is a light, fun read and I would recommend it to those who are looking for a cute romance!

Did I tag the whole book with sticky notes? Yup. Did I buy my own copy right after reading the book? Absolutely. Did I love this book? You bet I did. Do I plan on reread this book over and over and over? Most definitely. If you like Kasie West or Jenny Han or Miranda Kenneally, this book is for you. This was a sweet YA contemporary rom-com story. It had me swooning. It had some great twist and secrets. I love the mystery and the scavenger hunt with the paper hearts. I love that Ella found herself, and stood up for herself. I enjoy reading about sibling dynamic between Ella and Ashley. And there’s Andy. Sweet, nerdy, loveable Andy. And don’t get me started with Ella’s friends, Carmen, Jess and Katie. Katie wasn’t too bad. And sweet Sarah. I completely fell in love with this book. 5 stars.

All of this changes in an instant when she wakes up in a hospital after a Valentine’s Day Dance. Unaware of what happened to cause the accident or the 11 weeks prior to the crash - she’s left with a lot of questions and not a lot of answers. Including why she broke up with her perfect boyfriend. Now, a year has gone by and she’s still trying to piece together her memories of what has happened. As paper hearts with mysterious clues start arriving leading up to the Dance...sending her on a scavenger hunt...will she find her missing answers? Or, will she find even more than she was looking for? ♥️ This book was such a fun YA romcom. The characters that Hartwell developed have you rooting for Ella and the friends she makes along the way. Woven in were some great insights about the importance of true friendship and understanding the soul of a person. A sweet love story that just gives you that mushy feeling you want not only around the holiday of love, but all-year long. I really enjoyed this book, it was another fast read for me and I would definitely pick up more of her books!!!

Although I thought it was a cute story and I loved how shippable Ella and Andy were, at times it felt rushed - namely at the end. I was super proud of Ella when she stood up to Carmen but I wish she had told her how she felt earlier. Her “friends” were so shitty to her and just horrible people in general. I’m mad that they didn’t tell her what she missed during those 11 weeks, specially because Carmen was an awful friend to her. Carmen is so freaking self-centred, she was honestly detestable. On the other hand, I can’t bring myself to be mad at the admirer for not telling her about the three items in her secret spot. I can’t imagine how confusing it must have been for Ella, telling her about the items would only add to the confusion. However, if I was in Ella’s shoes I’d also be super mad so ugh idk. They should have probably just told her little bits slowly and been upfront about her having met someone before the accident. It would have been confusing but they could have worked through it? But then again, wouldn’t that be forcing Ella into something she might not want to happen? Overall, it’s just a messy situation. I did enjoy the plot and story. I’m always bothered when one party knows who the other is in these kinds of situations but I didn’t mind it as much in this one.

Overall, this is a cute story with a compelling mystery, but Ella is a bit of a tough character to like at times. Could just be that if she were real, we just wouldn't get along in real life, but I think it's more that as a narrator, Ella is guilty of telling the reader a lot about herself and the people around her, without giving us, the reader, the opportunity to be shown what they are like. With a story about someone missing eleven weeks of memories, this could have gone a really interesting direction. Perhaps if Ella was telling us everything the way she knew it, only for the reader to see something different, as Ella comes to realize her memories don't match with reality. This isn't quite the way the story went, though I think maybe it tried. I just think it was a missed opportunity. My only other major complaint is the number of times brand names and pop culture references were dropped into the text was a bit excessive, though that's more of a personal gripe. I think it dates books instantly. Again, though, I did enjoy this book. It was easy to digest, and even though the mystery wasn't too hard to guess, I enjoyed the journey to the end to find out if I was right or not. Not a bad choice if you need an easy, feel good romance.

This fast-paced, highly entertaining romance is the light-hearted read we all need right now. Ella, our teenage heroine, will grow on readers. Ella is determined to remember her past and she initially comes across as passive and adrift. As the story unfolds, Ella's character develops into a strong woman who is able to navigate tricky relationships between her sister, friends, ex-boyfriend, and new love. Readers will particularly cheer for Ella and her sister as they attempt to mend their ways. Many parts in the book are applicable to young adults, including standing up to friends, growing apart and finding oneself. In addition to romance, 11 Paper Hearts contains intrigue and comedy. While the novel has a few plot holes (where were the adults when all this was going down?), they didn't keep me from finishing the book in one sitting. A fun read, particularly for any teenage reluctant readers. Review of a Digital Advance Reading Copy For full content analysis, go to www.compassbookratings.com

I grabbed this book when it came up on audible because it honestly sounded like a cute read and I wasn't disappointed. It's a YA book that reminded me a lot of The Vow since it's about a girl who forgot eleven weeks of her life and is now getting hearts from a secret admirer to help her remember something that happened before her accident. Was I a little disappointed that there was never any real detail about the 'accident'? 3.5 stars! This book was so so cute! It’s the perfect fluffy YA romance read that manages to stay so wholesome while handling some hard topics. I really hated Carmen throughout the book and I know that’s the author’s goal, but I wish I got a little bit more of a glimpse into why she made the Big Bad Horrible Secret-Keeping Decision she made. Cause wow... I don’t know how you could do that to another person. Sometimes this book was a little boring and it didn’t blow me out of the water, but I really 3.5 stars! This book was so so cute!
