I have read this story under a different cover, but any book by Mr. Mackessy is definitely worthy of a re-read, especially this series. Certainly five stars worthy, as Clint, and his group are consistently defending their ranch, as Clint considers all of his many employees as family, not just ranch hands! You will enjoy this compassionately motivated group of people as they fight rustlers, Comanche, Comancherios and anyone else singling out this outstanding group of characters! Great storylines throughout this compelling western masterpiece, and the Author's outstanding character selections were perfectly selected for their commanding assignments throughout the entire story! Not a problem recommending this compelling western compilation of unending adventures to everyone, but especially to all of you dyed in the wool western folklore lovers. Give Clint, and his crew, a try, as you will find it hard to put this outstanding western masterpiece aside until the final paragraph has been read. Don't miss this action packed series of unending western folklore adventures or the loss is yours!!!๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Empire in the making A very interesting story of the growing West as it relates to the ever growing cattle business post Civil war. The main character is literally pulling himself up by boot straps. The author adds then interesting cast of characters that give the story real life. It is a fun story to read. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Liked it. I enjoyed the overall story. I've read some of his other books that weren't as chopped up as this one so l don't understand the problem (first book?). In fact after a lot of stops and unrelated starts I thought it was a series of short stories, that's how bad it was. I can recommend the other books of his I've read so I'll keep reading Mackessy's books. Liked it. I enjoyed the overall story. Disappointing book Book was choppy and didn't flow and in several places was actually boring. I was hoping for a better read than this! Disappointing book Book was choppy and didn't flow and in several places was actually boring. I was hoping for a better read than this!
