   We often hear, “but he was so nice, and a loving husband and father…I just can’t believe he could be capable of doing such things." Samuel’s Secret had me wondering…how well do I know my neighbors, acquaintances, loved ones and co-workers? And, are each of us who we are because of nature or nurture? I had empathy for Samuel and total shock and disgust for him, too. He is the kind of person you would “think” only a mother could love. I had empathy for Samuel and total shock and disgust for him, too. He is the kind of person you would “think” only a mother could love. As you read, you will feel his pain, his anxiety, the love he has for his family, and you will also experience his internal struggle. Ultimately, you will understand him and why he does the things he does, even if you don’t want to. Buffy Andrews pulls you into Samuel’s life on the very first page and holds you captive until the very last. If you like crime/drama/suspense with many unpredictable twists and turns, you will love this book, but be prepared…you may find yourself wondering about the people in your life, too! Excellent read ... I highly recommend!!

   punch I love Buffy Andrews’ women’s fiction, so I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about reading a book about a serial killer. I shouldn’t have worried. In typical Andrews’ style, her writing captured me from the start. The book sent me on an emotional roller-coaster, feeling empathy for Samuel on one hand and hatred for him on the other. I was fascinated as I followed the police as they searched for the killer. The characters came to life, and Andrews deftly handled dialog that really captured the vario punch I love Buffy Andrews’ women’s fiction, so I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about reading a book about a serial killer. I shouldn’t have worried. In typical Andrews’ style, her writing captured me from the start. The book sent me on an emotional roller-coaster, feeling empathy for Samuel on one hand and hatred for him on the other. I was fascinated as I followed the police as they searched for the killer. The characters came to life, and Andrews deftly handled dialog that really captured the various personalities. Andrews presents the nurture versus nature discussion, leaving it up to the reader to decide where they end up. A warning: This is not an easy book to read for its emotional impact, but it’s worth every penny. Kudos to the author for expanding her writing chops.
