This third chapter must be read following the other two - in order - as many of the characters and events referenced will flow more easily for the reader. This is a series worth investing in!

Another author to add to my list of favorites, ranking right up there with Bernard Cornwell. Another page turner, nail biter, can't put it down, kept me up late at night book (or should I say series of books). I was on a wild and merry adventure with Einer Unnsson and the Wolf Coats, all set to dive into the fourth and last book of this series and imagine my HUGE bonecrushing disappointment when I learned that it's not being released until June!! It's going to be a loooooong 3 months. Another author to add to my list of favorites, ranking right up there with Bernard Cornwell. Fantastically written! This book will have you hooked from the very first page! This is book three in the Whale Road Chronicles, if you haven't read the first two, stop now, go buy them, go read them. You'll have them done in no time at all and you can come back and tear through this one as well. Tim Hodkinson is quickly climbing the ranks of historical fiction authors and is definitely solidified in my personal top 5. Less of a history nerd and in it more for the adventure? No worries there! Tim's got you covered, even without having an interest in history or this particular time period you will thoroughly enjoy the book for the store, characters and fantastically paced action. Who knows, maybe you'll come away with a little bit of history nerd in the end! 5 Stars all the way, buy it, read it, love it, recommend it!

I want to thank NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for letting me read and review this book. The ‘Wolf Coats’ are a band of outlaw Viking warriors, who are on the run from a ‘would be king’ of the Viking nations. Along with a few others that they picked up along the way, they fight in huge battles, get captured, escaped from certain death, and repeated the process. They attribute their misfortune to a curse from a witch, and keep trying to get the curse lifted, without much luck. They attribute their misfortune to a curse from a witch, and keep trying to get the curse lifted, without much luck. Against all of the odds, their travels take them through many adventures and battles, just trying to survive. I enjoyed reading about the days of Viking lore, much of which seems to be based in historical fact.

A fantastic third installment and quite possibly my favourite yet! Plans don't quite go their way for the wolf coats as they struggle to rid the curse, as they find themselves in the middle of far too many wars and not coming out too well.. A full struggle to survive, and the battles keep going. Tim Hodkinson has an amazing way of putting you right in the action every time, letting you visualise every stab made, and every limb severed from the body! A solid 5 star from me, I loved it from the moment I opened the book, right up until the last few pages!

Lots of action Story line is one of constant combat. Too bad the Wolf Coats are so unlucky or cursed! One could get the idea they need a jarl or king to guide them. They have the life style of monks and need to spice up their lives otherwise what are they fighting for?

Again the author has kept us in suspense with this tale. Another fast pace tale which kept you turning the next pages. I have enjoyed the first 3 books in this series and cannot wait for the 4th one.
