This is a Second Chance Romance with some steamy parts, and this is the 3rd book in the Brotherhood by Fire series. I have not read the first two books in this series. I love when books as a single mother find love again, and the new love treats the single mother's kid really well. This book does that really well. I found the storyline was really good. 2.5 Stars I have been sitting on the previous two books in this series so I could binge them all when the third and final book released. Three brothers, not by blood but through the connection forged when living their young lives on the streets, are all saved from a house fire and then adopted by the fire fighter who saved them. The blub of dreams I hear you say, and believe me I felt the same way, until I started reading. The first book was enjoyable enough, I did find myself questioning the amount of page space being wasted on the lengthy descriptions of daily life, cooking and cleaning have never played such a big part in a book before that I can recall, by the middle of book two I realized that it wasn't a one off and the sexy times thrown in for good measure would not make up for the lack of a decent story-line. I mean seriously how many times can you write pages on what's being eaten, how it was prepared and cooked, and then follow that up with a lengthy paragraph or three on how they cleaned up the kitchen afterwards. Extolling the virtues of a man who knows his way around the kitchen and cleaning up after himself is great the first time, but constantly and through all three books not-so-much! I absolutely adored the author's Hope series and reading those books in succession did not feel like the author had rolled out the same thing time and time again, but this series was an exercise in mediocrity, don't get me wrong you need the day-to-day as much as the relationship building in any romance but all three books relied far too heavily on the mundane and the rest was added in sparsely just to keep things rolling along from one meal and clean up to the next. Nothing like I have come to expect from Jaci, and really disappointing, the bones of this series were solid and expectations for three really heart-felt, emotional, and sexy stories were completely off the mark. This review can also be found at Carole's Random Life in Books. I really enjoyed this book. I read the first two books in this trilogy last year so I was pretty excited to read Kal's story and it did not disappoint. This is the third book in the Brotherhood by Fire trilogy which I would recommend reading in order if at all possible since the couples from the previous book play roles in this story. I had a great time reading this second chance romance. Kal and Hannah were high school sweethearts. This review can also be found at Carole's Random Life in Books. I really enjoyed this book. I had a great time reading this second chance romance. Kal and Hannah were high school sweethearts. They broke up when Kal left for college but they both really cared for each other. Kal went on to become a firefighter while Hannah got married and had a child. Hannah's marriage is over and she is back in town with her son. Both Kal and Hannah decide to go to their high school reunion and quickly find that the spark that they had is still there. I loved Kal and Hannah and thought that they were perfect for each other. Kal was incredibly patient and willing to take things at Hannah's pace. I loved the way that he included Oliver, Hannah's son, in activities as often as possible. Hannah really wanted to rebuild her life and wasn't sure how a relationship would fit in but she couldn't seem to resist Kal. I loved the chemistry that they had with each other and I thought that their personalities really just seemed to fit. I would recommend this book to others. It was really easy to fall for these characters as they fell for each other all over again. I definitely plan to read more of Jaci Burton's work in the future. Well. Here we are. I’ve read a couple of Jaci’s other books and they never really work for me, but I keep trying. I liked Hannah and Kal. They’re both good, loyal people. I liked their history and how the relationship progressed. There are a good amount of characters, but they added a lot of dimension to the story. Plot wise, it was a bit boring. In his own book, he comes into his own. He is no longer working with his brothers he's not at another station. It works for him to be a little independent of them. Most of the time when a character shows up in other books by the time they get to their own you see some growth of said character but with Kal, you don't really have that because he's such a great, easy-going guy. Can you tell I really like him? Now Hannah is a new character so she's the one I wanted to know more about. I liked how she stood for her son and did what was best for him. She's a good mom. I think my only issue with her and it's a small one is that she is so focused on being independent of everyone that she's missing out on what could be. Sometimes we need to stand back for a second and figure out why we can't see what makes us happy until it hits us upside the head. It might have taken a while for these two to find each other again but when they did you see how much they still care for each other. Sometimes first love is the only love you'll have. You'll also love Hannah's mom and son. Both are wonderful characters on their own. This is a wonderful story that is what I'd call a comfort read. It just all worked so well and I enjoyed it so much. Kal has just transferred to the Tactical Team, and so we get some really hairy situations that they have to deal with - reminding us just how dangerous the life of a firefighter can be, and how it is not just fires which require their expertise and courage. Hannah is very jaded about love, her ex-husband did a number on her confidence and she is just fine spending her time with her young son, Oliver. But at her ten year High School reunion she sees her first love, Kal. It is clear from the first moment that Kal is going to do everything he can to find what he felt before with her, but she is going to have to change a lot of her rules to believe in an HEA. It is lovely watching her feel more comfortable with him, and renewing her friendship with the rest of the family. Obviously Oliver is a key part of the growing love in this pairing and Kal does not disappoint. The Donovan parents have every right to be proud of the boys that they raised - and are definitely enjoying the happy lives they now have with women who love and support them. I have enjoyed all these stories, and the mix of excitement due to their careers, and the risks which firefighting can bring which impacts on them having good, secure, loving relationships.

Kal decides to attend his 10-year high school reunion, and to his surprise, he runs into his high school girlfriend, whom he left behind years ago. Hannah Clark, has returned home after a divorce, with a young son (Oliver) and living with her mom. Hannah meets up with her friends at the High School reunion and is shocked when she sees Kal, the boy she loved years ago. Hannah is not interested in rekindling their old romance, as she is focused on taking care of Oliver. Best laid plans usually do not work out, as Kal and Hannah start spending time together, rehashing old memories, with both just being friends. Kal loves being with Hannah and Oliver, and despite their determination to being friends, the chemistry between is red hot, and soon they will act on their feelings, being friends with benefits. Hannah has sworn that she will not allow herself to have her heart broken again, even if Kal decides he wants something more permanent. In between this romance, it was great to see the many exciting technical rescues that were real or just training. I also loved the relationship with Kal and his family, and how nice Hannah & Oliver fit in. It was great to see both brothers, and their wife/fiancée. Hannah was a wonderful heroine, and you could not help care about her and her son. She allowed herself to fall in love again with Kal, but she was set in her promise that she will not go further. All Consuming was a sweet second chance steamy romance that was very well written by Jaci Burton. I loved Kal and Hannah, as they made such a great couple, not to mention Oliver, who was great. We did begin to worry, as we rooted hard for their relationship to move to a permanent one. Jaci Burton always writes wonderful romances, and All Consuming was another fabulous story that you should read. Barb The Reading Cafe

This is my first-time reading books by Jaci Burton and this is the 3rd book in the series “Brotherhood By Fire”. I’m behind in this series. The characters are wonderful, great word building, hot and sexy firemen and easy to read. Mary – ☆☆☆☆ This is the third book in the series and each is about a different brother. I do feel each can be read as a standalone, but then you would miss the back story on how the brothers grew up. Kal has just joined the Tactical Rescue Team and wants to be part of the team, more like family in the way they work together. When he gets an invite to his high school reunion, he wonders if his high school girlfriend will be there. They split when he went off to college, but he never forgot her. Hannah loved Kal in high school, but when he left for college she wasn't staying in town. She left, got married, and had a kid. Now she is back home and divorced. Seeing Kal at the reunion has stirred up those old feelings. She doesn't want to jump into another relationship. She wants to make it on her own for a while. Can Kal make Hannah see that he loves her and wants what is best for her and her son? Will Hannah give Kal a chance to show her that his love is real? Will they get the happily ever after that started back in high school? I really like this series and can't decide which brother I like best. Each one has their own strengths and a woman that will bring them to their knees. This story has all the feels that make it good. It will have you laughing one minute and ready to cry the next. If you are looking for firefighter brothers who love hard and fall in love harder, then this series is for you. Avid Reader – ☆☆☆ M/F Second-Chance Romance Kal loves his job. Working in the Tactical Rescue Team is exciting and challenging. Despite his co-workers being buttheads, Kal enjoys this new environment. The dating scene is a little tiresome for him though. He wants what his brothers and dad have. He wants a family. Hannah is home to pick up again and dust herself off. After a divorce, she knows that her son, Oliver, needs some stability. Living with her mom, while not ideal, is just what they both need. When Hannah and Kal meet up again, their chemistry is just as powerful as it was when they were kids. Now, though, they have more life experience to help guide them. But old fears creep in, relationship insecurities fight to take center stage. These two want to find their happily ever after, but can they over come their past? This is a sweet, second-chance romance. There isn’t a lot of angst and you’ll get a happy ever after, but the book is just a little flat. It’s an easy read, but nothing truly jumps out and happens. It’s predictable and calm. I am loving this Brotherhood! Kal and Hannah’s story was a beautiful second chance romance that put a smile on my face and warmed my heart. I am sometimes skeptical with a second chance romance. Kal and Hannah’s story was a beautiful second chance romance that put a smile on my face and warmed my heart. I am sometimes skeptical with a second chance romance. Is it going to be angsty, full of drama reliving past hurts, saying “I’m sorry” over and over again? Well, there was very little of this in All Consuming. Both Kal and Hannah accepted the past and dealt with it. Hannah knew her marriage was a mistake and Kal knew that he let the best thing that happened to him get away. Now, it was time for Kal to prove to Hannah that he learned his lesson and that his love didn’t fade away. And, Hannah had to decide if she would trust, not only her heart but that of Oliver’s, wouldn’t be broken again by the only man that ever held her heart. I truly enjoyed watching Kal win Hannah over and how he interacted with Oliver. She made him a better man, helped him through his struggles and decisions within the firehouse and the home he shared with his brothers. Did he make some missteps? Of course. Did she have some panic times? Of course. But, in the end, they both knew that it was inevitable that their lives weren’t complete without the other in it. The characters in this series were all written with one thing in common … big hearts. If you have read the series from the beginning, you know their past and how heart-breaking it was. But they each made something of themselves with the loving help of wonderful step-parents. Parents that were there to guide them, to love them and help them. They encouraged them to face their past and look forward to the future. Why do I bring this up? They were the cornerstones that saved these three wonderful men from the fire that could have consumed them. They were always in the back-ground but always a part of this series. Jaci Burton truly engrossed me in this series with the way she told each of their stories. They were all different, yet the same. She made us understand their trial and tribulations and showed us what a little love, lot’s of encouragement and hard work can get you. She wrote strong men with even stronger woman at their sides. She highlighted their past and wove it into their futures. She brought each of her characters full circle and made us proud of the men that they became. Review copy provided for a voluntary review.

The two eventually start dating, but will Hannah’s fear of repeating mistakes of her past keep her from the future with a great man? This was an okay read, but it came off a bit flat and one-dimensional. I liked Kal, but it’s one of those books where the male hero is just too perfect. He reacts to everything perfectly. He behaves perfectly with Oliver, Hannah’s son. He always says and does the perfect thing. I find when someone is too perfect in a book the character becomes unbelievable and frankly boring. I needed to see a wart or two, but it wasn’t there. Hannah was okay as well … but she was a bit over-dramatic. The way she treated Kal because he wanted to get serious really made no sense. You had a bad relationship before, we get it. Not everybody is your ex, so it’s time to move on. Of course we got to see the rest of the Donovan clan, who are also perfect! But as everyone was gathered for the last scene it felt like the end of the series. I know there are enough guys (and gals) in the fire department to give Burton something to write about, but this was the last Donovan brother. And, as we saw some time pass, it just felt like a conclusion. I guess we’ll see if that ends up being the case or not! Some of this author’s series are rather lengthy so it really could go either way!

Jaci Burton is a fairly new-to-me author, but I love reading new authors because you never know when you’ll stumble upon your next new favorite writer. This is the third book in her Brotherhood by Fire series. All of the books are marketed as stand-alone titles. I jumped into this series with this book, and had I not done my research, I never would have known it was a part of a series. There was just enough backstory with Kal’s brothers’ relationships that I wasn’t lost, but it was not a huge information dump, either. Kal and Hannah were high school sweethearts that broke up when he headed off to college. Ten years later, they reunite at their high school reunion. Life has taken some interesting turns, but their feelings for each other haven’t really gone away. Hannah has significant trust issues, though. I truly loved Kal’s character. He’s one of the good ones. He loves his job, his family, and is a loyal friend. He’s overcome a lot in his life, but he’s not let that hold him back. He used the lessons learned in the challenging years to push him to be a success. Now, he’s ready for the next steps: house, wife, family. I understood where Hannah was coming from, but after a while, I just got over being sympathetic. Kal was nothing but wonderful to her and always showing how dependable he was and how much he cared. The story arc also fell a little flat for me. Or maybe I’ve just been reading too much romantic suspense lately. Despite feeling a bit let down with the story arc and my issues with Hannah, this was an entertaining read all in all. I will be adding both of the previous books in the series to my TBR and look forward to more from this author in the future. If you like second-chance romance with an all-around lovable hero, you’ll enjoy this book. NICUnurse’s Rating: I give All Consuming by Jaci Burton 3.5 out of 5 stars!

I seem to be reading a lot of second-chance romances lately and All Consuming is another good one. I enjoyed Kal and Hannah together. Their teenage relationship ended ten years ago and when they reunite at their high school reunion it's with no lingering guilt or hard feelings regarding the end of that young romance. They're adults now, with life experience under their belts, moving forward into a potential new relationship but with a foundation of friendship at its core. They're adults now, with life experience under their belts, moving forward into a potential new relationship but with a foundation of friendship at its core. I enjoyed their banter, the spark of attraction between them, and the steam they generate when they finally act upon it. I especially enjoyed the fun they have together, in and out of the bedroom. There's such an ease between them that comes from that foundation of friendship. I also enjoyed the attention that was given to each of their careers, giving readers glimpses into their daily lives away from one another. I like learning new things and also gaining a more complete understanding of the individual characters. Something Jaci Burton excels at is creating families I want to know better and there are some good ones in this book. It was fun to meet and get to know Hannah's young son, Oliver (I loved the relationship Kal forms with him), Hannah's mom (she's a hoot), and Kal's parents, his brothers, and their significant others. They all add an additional richness to the story. I hadn't read books one and two before beginning this one. All Consuming stands fine on its own but by the time I finished, I was so enamored with the Donovan family that I immediately downloaded both Hot to the Touch and Ignite on Contact. If you enjoy heart-tugging, second-chance, contemporary romance with likeable characters, a bit of steam, feel-good fun, and smile-inducing happy endings, give this one a try. *Advance copy received via NetGalley for fair and unbiased review

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review. When he gets an invite to his high school reunion, he wonders if his high school girlfriend will be there. They split when he went off to college but he never forgot her. Will they get the HEA that started back in high school? I really like this series and can't decide which brother I like best. Each one has their own strengths and a woman that will bring them to their knees. This story has all the feels that make it good. It will have you laughing one minute and ready to cry the next. If you are looking for firefighter brothers who love hard and fall in love harder, then this series is for you.

The Brotherhood by Fire series continues with Kal's story. Kal finally made it into the Tactical Rescue Team and he is thriving there, apart from some conflict with a couple of guys who aren't convinced he should be there. Kal seems just too good to be true. He does an extremely dangerous job very well, without any serious incidents. He is happy and well-adjusted after growing up homeless and nearly dying in a house fire. He cooks, does volunteer work, and a whole host of other things. The only dark spots in his life are the two guys at work giving him a hard time, and the fact that Hannah didn't fall into his arms at first sight. It's quite a charmed life. My biggest issue with this is that the Kal that we meet at the start of the story is the same Kal at the end of the story. And he's really sweet, don't get me wrong. But that did not make for very interesting reading. Hannah, on the other hand, had a lot to overcome to find happiness again. She was a lot more interesting. I enjoyed this second chance at love romance. Hannah and Kal were easy to get to know and the secondary characters were very likable. Their sexy times were hot both in and out of the bedroom. Overall, a solid read. Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.

This is the third book in this series but can stand alone. I have not read the first two books in this series. Kal comes from a family of firefighters. Kal and Hannah instantly reconnect and the chemistry is there. I loved how Kal just fits in wherever he goes. Always thinking about Hannah and her son Oliver but also anyone else in circle. Hannah struggles with trusting him and letting him help her. This comes from her ex-husband who was immature and untrustworthy. After while this got tiring and overdone. Overall I enjoyed the book about three quarters of the way through Hannah's mistrust just got to be to much. Kal did nothing to warrant it. Still wouldn't mind reading the first two books in this series.

There are a few tense rescue scenes and some mild conflict at work for Kal, and I wished the story had been more focused on that part of the story, or at least give it equal page time. If you are in the need for a sweet love story with very mild conflict, you might like this story. A complementary copy was received. This is my honest review.

Hannah is hesitant because of just coming off of her divorce, but Kal is persistent. Of course the more time these two spend together the more they realize that old feelings are still there. When Kal decides to take things to the next level, Hannah freaks. It will take some soul searching for Hannah to realize that what she really wants is her happy ending with Kal. She gets her perfect happy ending.

How on earth did I miss the first two books in this series? Must fix this problem ASAP... I really enjoyed All Consuming. Kal and Hannah's second chance romance was believable and very sweet. My only real complaint, if you can even call it that, is how low-drama everything is in the book. Kal endures some low level aggression from two coworkers on the Tactical Rescue Team, but it's a mild annoyance to him and is resolved without a lot of fuss in the end. Their main relationship problem is Hannah's need to be independent--she takes it a bit further than she really needs to but then quickly gets over herself to get them to an HEA. Reading this was a pleasant way to pass the time, but there wasn't a sense of urgency to get to the end--there's no real sense of physical or emotional danger here (the former is perhaps a bit surprising given what the hero does for a living). I guess finding out that I already added Kal's brothers' books to my TBR before I even got to this one's epilogue probably tells you all you need to know... ;) Rating: 4 stars/ B+ I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book

4.5 stars. I really enjoyed this book! Kal and Hannah’s journey to HEA was chock full of heart, love, passion and emotion. It is a second chance for them as they were once high school sweethearts. Unfortunately Hannah is a little jaded by love and the prospect of forever after the failure of her marriage to Oliver’s father, so it isn’t easy for her to give herself over to it. But Kal is a patient man and head over heels for her. I love their story and the way things turn out for him, Hannah and Oliver and for his brothers as well. Great book!
