It’s never a good combo to be broke and desperate. You do stupid things. Like accidentally sign your soul over to Hell. When I interviewed for a new security job, I didn’t bat an eye that it was for a literal graveyard shift...headstones and all. I mean, at the hourly rate they were offering, who cares? I got this. Turns out, I’m not guarding a graveyard like I thought. It s It’s never a good combo to be broke and desperate. You do stupid things. Like accidentally sign your soul over to Hell. 2005 This book reads like it was written in 2005 by a 40+ woman who thinks that Top Gun was high art, some ‘90’s tv show with Tim Allen was the funniest show they’d ever seen, and Mystikal is the best musician. Everything about the book feels dated and more than a little pathetic. The female character, Delta Gates, is an utter lackwit. If I were to choose a pop cultural reference that describes dim-bulb Delta, she would be Zooey Deschanel at the height of her manic pixie dream girl popularity with purple hair, vacillating between crying, panic attacks, falling asleep, and sex fantasies that she says aloud like she has perverted Tourette’s for the first half of the book. Forget Buffy, Delta is a drippy damsel. And I am not normally one to find profanity off-putting, but at least 10% of the books is just every possible variation of virtually every American English curse word, only for Delta to primly denounce another character as “crass”. That’s kind of the root of the problem with co-written books, though. One author has the character constantly thinking and talking about @[email protected] and the other has her clutching her pearls, swatting at the man who used the bad word. One character has the character kicking @ss and the other has her falling down in a heap of snot. It makes the character seem bipolar and/or schizophrenic. In terms of the plot, there is none. Delta may or may not be some kind of demon. What kind? No one knows. The authors wait until the last paragraph of the book to decide and while they digress to all kinds of graphic sex fantasies, they don’t bother explaining the alternate universe beyond mentioning that there are 5 rings of Hell. If it’s anything like Dante’s Inferno, they don’t mention it one way or the other. That’s as far as the authors get in a book that is supposed to be about the gatekeepers to the gates of Hell. That is the start and end of how far they get into the discussion of Hell or demons or anything else. They spend more time discussing the details of Delta taking a shower than establishing that the book takes place in a different universe.

Down on her luck and needing a new job Delta Gate seeing an add for a security guard with an amazing hourly rate thinks she's hit the jackpot, what she doesn't realise is that the job involves protecting a Gate to Hell- hence the amazing hazard pay and benefits. Lots of heavy flirting between Delta and the 4 demons in book one but that's it (in this book I didn't feel any type of strong connection between them which sucked). Acquired via KU.

Ok book The beginning was good then the middle with her oh poor me I can't do anything got so annoying. I had to stop reading cause the book was making want to jump in and slap her. I did eventually get to the end and it does get better. I don't think I am going to read anymore of this series.

A n ad for a security officer with grear pay and benefits seems like a dream come true. Only on her first night she meets four sexy guys who gurn out to be demons, now they want to make Delta their fifth guardian but they need to know what level of demon she is and the only way to discover this is by going to Hell ******** This started off pretty good, the h is hilarious and I enjoyed being in her head. She reminded me of the h From the cupidity series....but things went a bit downhill from there. Delta wasn't just hesitant in her new role, which could be understandable but she acted like a coward and this entire book was basically just the guys trying to convince her to find her lady balls and honestly that's just not what I hoped for in my h. The guys are almost mirror reflections of the guys from the cupidity series as well. One is a jokester and the good ole boy of the group, one is interested in sex, one is the serious leader of the and the other is a gigantic asshole who constantly puts her down. We don't quite get a feel for the guys yet especially as we don't get their POV Cliffhanger RH though no real sex as yet ***just as I hate when I'm constantly reminded of a manwhore hero's past it's the same for my h. Sexual confidence and freedom is fine but I really don't need to be frequently reminded that the h is no stranger to ONS or that she's got no problems with casual sex. This is a personal preference and seriously irked me here.

So I will say this-I enjoyed the beginning of the story-and found my self chuckling at the quick quippy dialogue. But damn- reading the reviews on this book some people were not feeling the crude humor or throwback references. Yikes. Yeah, I agree that some of the stuff Delta says can be considered crass and she was constantly thinking about sex. But I didn't mind for the most part. For me I was just sitting there reading her talking about wanting at least 10 inches down south and thinking....Giirrrl we got a size queen over here and Damn she really shaded Johnny Depp's ass and Tom Cruise freaks me out too... With that said, even for moi- after Delta started to hang around the guys I got a less interested in the book. The flirting and inuendos were just kind of cheesy- but honestly nothing new for most of the RH books I've read. -->IE: traitorous body line, the goofy nicknames, the constantly horny dialogues...you get the gist... But what I really wasn't feeling was- (yeah I can see the anger at being expected to take on a role you never asked for and being overwhelmed)- but the fraidy cat moments, the cry baby scenes, and the constant clumsiness that lead to potential death more than once just made me eye roll. (view spoiler)[ I mean how can you be a complete badass one min- mowing down and dusting baddies- and the next you can't even walk down some damn stairs with out dying and needing to be rescued? Iyiyi. (hide spoiler)] So yeah, I was feeling the potential but don't think I'll read the next one. However, if you like typical RH this might be up your alley- I just didn't have much fun. Also, I will say I don't think it was all that bad as the reviews were saying- just nothing new.

4 stars Interesting, fun, and funny read! The only reason it’s not five stars is because the main character was extremely aggravating. Her favorite saying was “It wasn’t my fault”. However I am able to get over that and I will be reading the second book.

Series review, same posted for book 4. No spoilers I loved this story but... 1. I wish it was not told the way it was. I think I would have appreciated it more if it was one or two books told from multiple povs, especially of the sisters. The way the story is delivered, with separate books per sister, didn't work very well for the plot. 2. Again, I felt like the 4th book also needed the multiple povs to cover the other events where Sable was not there. It was a bit frustrating wondering what everyone else was up to. 3. I hated that after the epic battle with Morax, I had to go back to the mundane life of Sable. Not that I didn't want to know about it, it just felt meh and kind of a very long extended epilogue. I wish the story ended shortly after the high of the battle. This is a very good story but the flow and the delivery could have been better.

Is that hyporcritical of me? Possibly... But I can't help it. This heroine seemed pretty funny at first but her annoying whininess got old FAST. It was certainly different and refreshing that she didn't jump in to her new life immediately after learning about it, but her impulsiveness was a turn off most of the time. Due to all this, I stopped reading after she decides to come home for "emotional reasons" after JUST learning how bad it is when the gatekeepers are not nearby to guard their gates. That level of selfishness? No, just no. Also I just learned that the 3rd book is about a whole new bunch of characters with an even more annoying heroine, so it's just better to cut my losses now.

This was a fun and interesting start to a new series. What starts out as she assumes as a simple security job guarding a graveyard turns into so much more than she bargained for. Hoping in the next book her kinky dreams will become a reality, that is if everyone can survive a trip through hell.

Delta Gate is hilarious! Have you ever read a sentence in a book so good that you read it again just to fully appreciate it? I did that a ton in this book. I laughed out loud a lot reading this. I'm sad that I don't already have the second book ready to go, but relieved that I dont have to wait too much longer. It looks like the entire series will be finished and published by the end of July, which is amazing. This is the type of series I'll reread again and again after the next book comes out until it's over. Definitely adding to my "waiting for more" list.

3-3.5 stars....Look I feel like I have to be honest here, I'm totally biased when it comes to these author's works. That all being said of course I enjoyed this... but it wasn't my favorite of their stuff. Would I hang it on my fridge and make sure everyone who came in my house had to see it and listen to me go on an on about it like a proud parent... Yea probably lol, but.. I still feel like there were some things definitely off in comparison to their other stuff. Its obvious that during quarantine at least one of these author's have been neck deep in some 90's throwback.. I think it was Ivy because she obviously has the obsession with Top Gun as evidenced by her references in some of her other solo works. That being said, I'm pretty sure Raven co-signed the shit out of it and dove right in because she seems ride or die like that. So I love me some 90's and I am totally down with the ride, but I feel like a lot of these references are gonna shoot right over the heads of some of our younger readers, just saying. Might need to mix it up a bit in the next series.. FMC, Delta gets a rude awakening when she desperately starts a new job as security for some rich dudes who need their graveyard watched.. yea all kinds of flags go up but its 80$ an hour with some hazard pay, yada yada, and all that stuff that she wasn't really interested in because its freaking 80$ an hour.. First night on the job quickly turns into a shit show though as Delta is thrust into a supernatural world of which apparently she is a part of. Stage Scene or long, drawn out, freak out with panic attacks, fake feinting and weird flirting. Delta, like most of Raven and Ivy's FMCs, is great because she is OTT awkward which makes her so relatable because not everyone has their shit in order and we love reading all about it lol. The difference here is that Delta has a super stubborn streak that for most of the book kept the plot from really progressing because she put the capital D in DENIAL, as well as totally wussing it up for most of the story. This caused some major setbacks in plot progression, but at the same time it was a little refreshing and a different approach in comparison to the other FMC's. I'm not really "feeling" the connections with the guys yet as everything seems totally superficial at this point but keep in mind we really haven't gotten anywhere except past the freak out.. so I'm thinking this is going to pick up. These author's have never let me down so I have total faith. Delta herself is occasionally all accidental bad A, and all whiney "why me" and also kind of damsel in distress.. Its a weird combo but like I said, still having total faith. Totally got me on the cliffhanger. Luckily, for me, they have planned the releases of these books to be about 2 weeks (or so, I don't math) from each other so I won't have a long wait to dive back in. Now that book one and the epic freak out is over, I can't wait for some reveals about this world and our characters.

Holy cliffhangers! What a ride! Delta Gates just wants a good job after the bar that she works at goes under. She ends up having her whole life upended and everything she knows about herself is now questioned. She’s a demon, and she’s been hired to guard a Hell Gate. So now, they have to figure out what kind of demon she is.

I had no problem with her slightly crude comments, and I actually laughed at a few of her pop cultural spaz moments. My issue was Delta's cowardice. Her continued denial and fear, was annoying to me. The last scene could've been her moment to shine, but her running away (and the resulting cliffhanger ending) pretty much closed this series for me. The other point I struggled with was the immediate attraction to the demons. I realize this is not a fault of the story, but with my ability so understand the attraction.

Delta seems to be a character that is not really into lovey-dovey relationships and having 4 partners suits her. She's a demanding girl with an extensive sexual history. Anyway, onto the book no 2!

Not what I expected from this duo First, it took me 9 days to read this book. Coming from someone who normally reads a book every other day, that’s saying something. I just couldn’t get into this book. Now, let’s talk about Delta. To me she was immature, whiny, and annoying. I didn’t find her panic attacks and running away endearing, I thought she was just childish for 28. She acted more like a 16 year old with her temper tantrums and outbursts than a grown woman in my opinion. It got exciting the last few pages but not exciting enough to keep reading. I will have to pass on the rest of this series.

Excellent start to a new series I love when Ivy Asher and Raven Kennedy come together and write books. In this one it’s a lot for Delta to deal with. She went for a job and finds out she isn’t human and doesn’t understand how she didn’t know. I completely understand her reactions and I felt like the guy’s reactions were a bit annoying. They expected her to just roll with it and not freak out? She had no clue, her parents are not alive so she can’t ask them and she’s 28. It’s a bit different than the usual vampires and werewolves scenario. So they need to evaluate her and find out what type of demon she is, only they have to do this in hell. She procrastinates because she still hasn’t fully accepted and come to terms with what they are saying. Which again is totally understandable. I do not like how Jerif (probably misspelled that) treats Delta. At first he wasn’t so bad but she her freak outs and such he calls her weak. I don’t think learning you’re completely different from what you knew is being weak. People need to process and for him to give her a hard time for processing bugs me. He continues to treat her poorly too. Except at the end. Naturally there is a huge amount of action 90% mark, what we basically have been waiting for but then it ends in a cliffhanger, which I’m not a fan of. Definitely reading the next one.

Action-packed start to a new series! I'm still reeling from that cliffhanger. Just wow. But at least these books are coming out every two weeks, so I won't have to wait too long for a result. Honestly these characters have completely sucked me in. Delta is one of the best protagonists I've seen in the paranormal genre, because she's so real. She reacts to everything like a real person would in all the craziness. When she talks herself into doing what needs to be done, it's so inspiring. And her fu Action-packed start to a new series! And her fun personality is perfectly complimented by the other three guardians. We've seen lots of their personalities, but only seen hints of their pasts, so I really hope we get to see more of that specifically. Ivy Asher and Raven Kennedy are taking us on a hell of a ride in this new series. Pun intended.

Great growth Delta is not the typical hero. She starts off seening self-centered and ridiculous but as I learned more about her I wondered how she could be doing as well as she is. The ending lands on a cliff hanger. I had a feeling the very end would happen the way it did. Not all of it but the most important question going through the story, what level is Delta?

The constant freak outs and sexual innuendos were just boring. I skipped so much because it was the same thing over and over. There is so much wrong with this book. The portrayal of the mc is sooooo bad. She flighty and constantly horny. The demons are hot and always trying to fuck her. It’s repetitive and lacks imagination.

Bloody brilliant!!! As of this writing, I have LOVED everything that Raven Kennedy and/or Ivy Asher have released. This book slaps onto the page with verve and relatable humor, introducing Delta and her unlucky situation in a way that draws you into the story with delicate talent - and fist to the face wit. She's just this side of dangerous and just that side of snarky - added together, it makes for a well rounded foundation that carries this tale from beginning to end, especially after she meets the illusive 'owners' of the graveyard gate she is meant to be guarding. I think one of the things I enjoyed most about Delta was her personal honesty. She's a [email protected], yes.... but she doesn't really KNOW that, and her fear speaks loudly in the quiet of her mind. She has flaws and foibles like the rest of us, and this narrative doesn't shy away from that truth. It makes her more approachable than many FMC's in PNR stories, offering her a sense of 'realness', even if there are moments you might want to smack her. Exciting, original and wonderfully concocted, this is a gem - and with the rapid release, you can dive into the entire tale right now! Perspective First Person, Single POV Ending Type Cliffhanger Rating Mature Romantic Dynamic MMMMF Character Age Range 28+ My Final Verdict on Grave Mistakes Exciting and well written, this is an amazing start to a new PNR series by two powerful and talented authors. Deftly plotted and easy flowing, this has all the oomph and pizzaz you'd expect from this dynamic duo - and with the rapid release format, you won't have to wait long to enjoy the entire collection! Errrr... Rating and reviewing this one is hard. I love the overall idea of the story. Hot demons? Yes, please! Sign me up! It would have been a 4 star read for me, but the FMC was a struggle for me. The first 20% of the book had enough plenty of LOL moments to keep me going. And then it's like nonstop of her acting like a prissy b*tch, fluctuating between "it's not my problem" burying her head in the figurative sand and "uh-huh I'll show you" indignation. Her moods are petulant tantrums, irrational rage, and extreme horniness. I'm at a loss. I'm enjoying the guys, but I swear every time Jerif says something that she interprets as him being a prick, I'm over here thinking "I'm with Jerif on this" while raising a stern brow at her. BUT I am powering through and reading the next book, hoping to see character growth and maturity in the FMC. I love both Ivy Asher and Raven Kennedy so much, that I am committed and I just hope that there is some relief soon and the payoff is worth it. Adding that I did appreciate how the book ended. Yes, it's a cliffhanger, but this author duo has this series on rapid release, so chill. What I appreciated was the promises from some of the Hs that she would be ok and they had her back, trying to soothe her panic or rabbit mode, contrasting with her needing to find the courage to save her ass and *fingers crossed* unleash her inner badass. I was ready for the figurative push her over the cliff to see her use her wings to fly.

2.5-3 stars. Okay I really love Raven Kennedy's writing, but I think I don't like Ivy Asher's... I read their other collaboration or April's Fools, and I didn't love it. This was like watching a train wreck, I don't enjoy the idea of it, but it is so hard to look away. I didn't really like Delta, she tried too hard to be too cool, but when it came down to it she was very selfish and whiney.. I couldn't connect. I really liked the dynamic of the guys, but I don't think that is enough for me to cont 2.5-3 stars. Okay I really love Raven Kennedy's writing, but I think I don't like Ivy Asher's... Like the ending ended in a cliffhanger, and my first thought was "ehh... not my favorite" Overall if you liked April's Fools, and a lot of pop culture references then this will be for you.

I feel the need, the need for speed! Wow! Such a full throttle and highly entertaining story! Grave Mistakes was seriously funny, it had me cracking up every few pages. I especially loved all the pop culture references. Delta is a complicated and likeable character, who is incredibly realistic. She isn't automatically courageous, willing to dive into a dangerous adventure. She isn't immediately ready and able to kick some serious butt. She doesn't just blindly accept that she has to do what she's I feel the need, the need for speed! Wow! Such a full throttle and highly entertaining story! This book flowed so smooth and fast, it broke the sound barrier. A real page turner. You have to try this book. And with a fast release schedule, there's little waiting for the rest of the series to come out, yay! 😁

Holy Hell! Wow. Absolute talent pours from these authors minds and I cant get enough of it. Delta is 100% my girl and the ultimate heroine. Possible Spoiler: One thing I have to say really made me fall in love with this story was the fact the guys did not chase her down. I was in stitches laughing at her reaction for that. I always found it odd when books have the guys kidnapping the girl. I cant recommend this book enough, it will have you laughing your heart out. Original plot, amazing characters Holy Hell! Wow.
