Mark then ordered a tray of chocolates for his mother's birthday and scheduled a pick-up for the next day. After Mark left Margaret wandered down the street talking to the other shop owners -- Stacy Koontz, Happy Go Lucky Cafe; Mr. Stewart, dog groomer; Sabrina Harris, Baker's Dozen; Simone Peretti, antique store; Horace Bentley, used bookstore; Elizabeth Bartholomew, day care center; and Patrick and Bea Donohue, toy store. The Donohues were the only ones who had accepted Mark's offer. When Mark didn't pick up the tray the following day Margaret felt something wasn't right. She went to his house, discovered the door was unlocked and when no one answered, she entered the home. She discovered Mark dead clad only in his boxers. She phoned her boyfriend Detective David Graham to investigate. When David determined Mark had been murdered he asked Margaret to assist him in the investigation as she had done in recent murders. While trying to discover who had killed Mark, David began acting strange -- receiving text messages, phone calls, etc. Margaret began to worry that she was losing her boyfriend but didn't know why. This is another great book by Wendy Meadows, the fourth in the Sweet Shop Mysteries.

Wow. Someone want to buy all the properties and replace it with a mall. Why would anyone want to do that to a quaint shopping district. Sorry my personal pet peeve. Problem is now they are dead. Who did it? Why? Did the agreement ever get filed? What is going on with David? Surprises there. Pay attention to the clues and you will be able to figure it out. If you follow the rabbit trails then you will get lost. I kept asking myself: what about this clue? Turns out I was right. You will be too. Great Wow. I always welcome a new sweet shop mystery and just like West End, always feel welcomed into their community. When a developer approaches their small businesses with an offer to buy them out to build a strip mall, all but one turned their noses up at the offer. But when he turns up dead, they wonder why someone would resort to murder if they could have all just stuck together to prevent the development. Mark Sheridan is a real estate developer. He wants to buy out all the 'old businesses' on the main street and open up a big mall. All the business owners are angry at him, except one who accepted his proposal. Then he ends up dead. Of course, Margaret finds him when she is delivering some candy to his house. I love a great mystery and I love a great romance. What's better than when you can blend the two of them together? I absolutely felt like I could have been friends with Margaret if she were real. The reader will fall in love with the plot and the characters. The ending wasn't out of the realm of what the reader would have expected. Great Job!! Another good mystery in West End. This time there is a real estate developer making his rounds on Main St. trying to buy out all of the businesses. Only 1 takes his offer but then he is murdered before he can process the paperwork. Who could possibly want him dead? Don't worry! Margaret is on the case! She has some personal stuff to deal with but she always has time to solve a murder. A fun read! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This series is very entertaining to me. Anyone looking for a way to get lost in a story and to go through a gamut of emotions, can find what they are looking for in this book. Independent women/single mothers can identify with the main character on many levels. This story is a must read. A heartwarming story that will make you keep the tissues close by. Wendy Meadows writes wonderful books and this is truly one of them. You will love the town of West End and its citizens. Take the time to sit and enjoy the feeling of family and friends that weave through the book. Highly recommend to all cozy mystery lovers.

This was about so much more than solving a murder. It was about relationships, with others, with yourself, with a child...and how your own happiness isn’t defined by anyone else but yourself. The murder mystery was great, but this story went deeper and I really liked that! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Another death in West End. Times they are a changing. Another great story and a fairly quick read. Took me 2 days but I got the killer sorted on the first night. Margaret is being a right plonker in this one. Insecurity makes some people react in very rash ways. Just proves you don't always mature with age and grace is something not everyone readily achieves.
