In this book the main character is Penny Clearwater who has been brought low by the one man who should have been looking out for her, her father. After his death all that Penny inherited was a mountain of gambling debts and bad dealings. With nothing left for her, Penny was forced to live off of the kindness of her friends. This was not an ideal situation for her but she was left with little choice in life until she was informed that she had a small inheritance that had not been swallowed by her father’s irresponsible ways. The only issue with her inheritance was that it would be nearly impossible for her to get it up and running by herself. At this point is where Lord Wesley Preston entered with a unique proposition as he too had been down on his luck. Although Penny did not trust Preston, as she could draw too many parallels between his situation and her father’s, but she was also not in a position to be too picky. So, she accepted his proposal and kept her fingers crossed that her intuition about Preston’s character was not playing her false. What a sweet romance Too Wicked to Woo was! It was charming to read about the fears and hopes that both Penny and Preston were dealing with. They both had to extend trust towards each other in order to salvage a new life for themselves but it was a scary endeavor for them as well. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, these two characters were adorable with their ups and downs as they forged a new life that included a few surprises along the way. I love that this story also included a little mystery in as well as a lovely romance. Overall, Too Wicked to Woo was a wonderful addition to a charming series and I would recommend it to all readers who love historical romance. My review : When the past left them destitute, is there a future together when trust is most precious currency... Sorry I am a true Dory, I do remember now Wesley, he was the one nearly lost to excesses in The Earl Of Dryden. I pitied him for how low he had fallen. Then the opening of this book introduced the new lord Preston, still broke but his body free of any drugs or spirits. I was sad for him, he made mistakes and gave up his rights by drowning in dens of hell. Until the electroshock of his friend finding a new meaning for himself because of love. Penny has seen from the inside, the damages left when a love is not both sided and one is a cheater never reneging on using his vile means to get what he wants. So when a said reformed cad proposes to her, she has every right to doubt his word. Thus begins a slow courting as they get to know one another once married. Together they will share and face the ghosts of their past, ugly or fair... Up to them to decide where lies their trust. It was an emotional and harrowing tale as both fight their own demons, in spite of deciding to band together but still some battles are best done alone, until they can sort out where their heart and soul are called. Penny is constantly analyzing her relationship with Wes, scarred he might going back to his old life when every new day, he shows her how he cares for herself and the promises he made to her on their wedding day. While Wes struggles with his own guilt and insecurities, he blinds himself to his own value, unable to see he is an asset to their fledgling union. Luckily for them, their chemistry will cement their love until they can find in them the strength to straighten their soul to a deeper level. 5 stars I was granted an advance copy by the author and I have prior to it preordered my own. "The Art of Dealing with Rouges." A decent name to begin with but Penny and her friends were going to try to put together a book to help young ladies with said rogues. Or was it? Such a perfect story of two people coming together contractually to help each other become profitable. But oh, there was much more to it than that! Loved Preston and all that he had been through and Penny who had endured her fair share of heartbreak. Tammy Andresen never fails to make me fall in love with her characters and create a story that brings a smile to my heart. Oh, and the book they were putting together? You will just have to read to find out!

To Wicked To Woo, by Tammy Andresen. This story is well written. The writer focused the readers attention on Penny and Wes. She showed the love and romance that blossoms between the two characters with a good plot. The characters worked well together from how they are described and the troubling past that they worked hard to stay away from. This is good writing and a good book.

Penny Clearwater is one of her friends, she has survived her mother's death, her father's financial ruin & death leaving her penniless & caused her fall from society has been taken in by one the her friends. Penny appreciates the help but yearns for a family of her own & being away from her friends charity but know marriage will never come her way. . Lord Wesley Preston finds out he is suddenly an Earl which he never expected & he must give up a very successful military position in order to take on the earldom. The new position, money & lack of physical work led him down a road of debauchery with alcohol, opium & women. He has now pulled himself out of the gutter but his money is gone & he only has his rundown London town home & his dilapidated estate so he swallows his pride & asks his military friend, Earl of Dryden to help him. The earl is more than happy to help is old friend, Wes. The earl has also been helping Penny with legal matters after her father left her penniless & has just discovered that her mother left her the family home (the one thing her father didn't get hold of & sell). It is wonderful news but she does not have the funds to restore the house & land that has been uninhabited for a while. Wes overhears the conversation taking place about the inheritance & enters the room after excusing his interruption. The earl & his wife, Chloe introduce Wes to Penny & Wes immediately offers a solution to her problem of repairing the house. He explains his expertise in farming & also his knowledge in repairs around the house & building. He suggests trading his labor for half of the money that is earned when he prepares, plants & sells the crops grown. He also asks Penny to marry him to keep the gossip mongers from talking & it would be done as a business agreement & after the sales of the crop in a year or so, they could both go their separate ways. The journey from here is fun, a little rocky, with a little bit of a danger but the one thing that holds true is always tell the truth. I was gifted the Advanced Reader Copy of this book & all opinions are my own & have been voluntarily given.

Penny meets Wesley, Earl of Preston when arriving at the home of her dear friends Lady Chloe Dryden and Fin, Earl of Dryden. Wesley was not one who came from riches. He was the son of a farmer and had been a Captain in the Army and through circumstances beyond his control he becomes Earl of Preston the beginning of Wes’s downfall. When he meets Penny he has spent the last few months weaning himself off of drink. Having been taken advantage of by a unscrupulous manager he is in need of money to rebuild all he has lost. Wes who really has nothing makes Penny an offer. She takes him up on his offer and with that their story begins. The story gets very emotional at times for both characters. You watch love begin to bloom between Penny and Wes, as they both work to make her property habitable and profitable. Both have histories they need to overcome. I much enjoyed reading their story, and catching up with some of the other characters and their stories. I read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that was received from a third party. He had no money and hoped his friend, Dryden, might be able to help him straighten himself out. After hearing of Penny’s run-down property, he suggests they marry and together improve the property. After some convincing, Penny accepts Wes’s proposal but is still afraid she has fallen for a rake like her mother did. She contributes to the chronicle by writing about her parents’ marriage, but she is worried her marriage is following their path. Can Penny overcome her fear and trust Wes before his past comes between them? I have enjoyed this series and this book is a great addition to it. I loved the characters and could feel their emotions while reading the book. Both Penny and Wes have fears from the past that they must overcome in order to trust each other. I can’t wait to read Lady Annabelle’s story next.

Amidst much trepidation, the two embark on a contractual marriage, one that would benefit both of them, but neither takes into account the past that keeps creeping up on them. The plot of this book kept me turning the pages and involved my emotions. I fell in love with Wes and empathised with Penny as they struggled to bring all the pieces of their lives together. I was sorry when the book came to an end as I was totally invested in the characters. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

I loved reading the story of Wes and Penny! Wes is a mess. Yeah it rhymes and it’s true. What can I say? He knows he’s got to do better and has been trying to. But then he meets Penny and there’s chemistry between them, but she’s afraid he might be either the best thing for her or the worst. Wes makes her an offer that wouldn’t be wise to refuse, considering her position. Watching them fall in love was very heart warming. I only wish it were longer!

Wes looked so scruffy he was a!most whipped from the premises! Overheating Penny's inheritance Wes instantly proposes he has nothing to loose no where to live and neither does Penny! No one sane would consider his proposal but what if...... An unusual proposal Wes is almost destitute so on impulse he decided to visit and old friend and was immediately captivated by Penny! A sweet historic romance! I enjoyed the humor and love that grew between two scared but wonderful human persons. The growth of love and trust between them was fun to watch. Love and fate make such wonderful partners. An enjoyable experience, thank you, Jack.

A marriage of convenience turns into so much more. Loved how determined the protagonists were about turning their lives around. Penny has trust issues and Wes has a bad reputation. They both work hard on overcoming those hurdles. A great story you'll enjoy. A marriage of convenience turns into so much more.
