Although a bit odd in parts (particularly near the end) this is a book that a dear older friend gave me years ago from her personal library. She had an RC background (Joyce Rupp was O.S.M.) I had tried to pick it up several times, but it seems to be the ideal thing to read at this time of COVID-19, as I am absorbing much of it's deep content like a sponge. I had tried to pick it up several times, but it seems to be the ideal thing to read at this time of COVID-19, as I am absorbing much of it's deep content like a sponge. It deals a lot with personal fear and the hesitancy we have for looking within ourselves at the issues that hold us back, being candid about that and looking for growth no matter what is stirred. Here are the excellent chapter headings: The Land of Darkness/Leave the Hall Light On/Silent Stirrings in the Tomb/Separate Bedrooms (a woman in a small group setting the writer was facilitating was asked where she felt her relationship with God was at this time, and she had answered, 'it feels like we have separate bedrooms')/The Morning Will Come. There is also an Epilogue and some notes at the end. An excellent 'companion' reader to add to other materials that you may be attracted to daily.

Wondful wise and helpful book. As a Catholic who suffers from depression and anxiety I found it early comforting to read something by someone who understood how awful I can feel but also how challenging this can be for my faith. This is a book to keep by me I think. Small and immensely powerful. Thank you to the author who has given me some hope.

A small book full of wisdom. hope-filled. I'll read this one again and again. A small book full of wisdom. hope-filled. I'll read this one again and again.

Great little reminder of the goods things and never to lose hope. Can be read over and over and different meanings will be gleaned.

I recently finished reading the newly revised 2016 version of "Little Pieces of Light: Darkness and Personal Growth" by Joyce Rupp, OSM. As I read her prose and poetry, I underlined many sentences and wrote multiple notes along the sides. The next time I read it (and, yes, this will be one book I will read again and again), I'm apt to find even deeper levels of meaning. Regardless of where you are in life's journey, this book will help you find light and guidance. A great little book to remind and inspire that amidst the darkness of life comes transformation and new life.
